Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and sugar

Avatar n tn com There they did tons and tons blood work and physical exam and let me know I also had Fibromyalgia too. From all I read about it and of the few people I do know with it. It truely affects no two people alike! So Nancy: This is what I found on Cushing’s, and I think because some of the symptoms overlaps, a good Dr. does check the possibilities for cross connection of some of these Auto-immune diseases.
Avatar f tn apparently you havent read too many of the threads. I've not see anyone give medical advise. we share our experiences. there are quite a few people on here who seem to know more about fibromyalgia and CFS then most M.D. most people on here do not want "sugar coating" but the truth and as sad as it is there are people with fibromyalgia and CFS that are in wheelchairs..

I hope you are doing better now but if now try a strict diet and lots of water, lemon, green drinks, veggie salads, NO WHEAT! Let me know how you are if you get this.

Avatar f tn I have Fibromyalgia and can only work three days a week with days in between and have to sleep 12 hours and two short naps during the days off. This year if I do too much during one day, my upper back spasms into a neck/shoulder pain spasm and causes migraine, and I am bedridden. The only thing that provides relief is a hot bath and codeine and 2 muscle relaxants and one gravol. It has only been that bad for one year.
1033336 tn?1252509731 Following then onwards, I have experince pain trobbing at the back, in between the joint of knees, in between the hip joint, upper and lower both of the legs, at the joints of the arms, in between fingers, at the palm of hands and feet. Am i suffering from fibromyalgia? Do i need to do a full body check-up for diagnosis?
Avatar f tn ) to get rid of muscle pain, exercise regularly (walking, yoga, stretching) to get rid of joint pain and joint stiffness and quit refined sugar, gluten and dairy. I am now in remission. I still suffer from fatigue but nothing like it used to be! This seems to be the magic formula for me. Also, I take magnesium citrate at night for anxiety and sleep. I sleep through the night for the first time in my life.
Avatar m tn People with eating disorders, kidney diseases, cancer, autoiimmune diseases, and anemia should not try this diet. A fibromyalgia detox diet means avoiding cheese, transfat, caffeine, chocolates, candies, alcohol, processed meats and restricting use of salt, sugar and fats. Medicines can be usually taken while on detox diet. Before discontinuing any medication consult your local health care provider. Hope it helps. Take care and best luck!
470168 tn?1237474845 Does anyone else have both these conditions within the family and especially anyone with autism and fibromyalgia. On a different topic, I have had alot of success recently using dietry intervention. It involves removing all simple carbohydrates (sugar, wheat etc) and all stimulents (ie. coffee, tea, alcohol), and all artificial sweetners etc. You also have to eat something every 2-2 1/2 hours to maintain blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn My feet and ankles sometimes hurt so bad I can't sleep or walk. I am on Lyrica for fibromyalgia and it makes the swelling worse. My blood sugar is coming down slowly with the insulin.I was put on another blood pressure pill but it made the swelling worse. I take Lisinopril and a water pill and am trying another new pill. My blood is still high. I wonder if I should go off the Lyrica? I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 40 years ago. I have lumps in all the adipose tissue on my body.
1075109 tn?1281839291 Driving even with an automatic car is painful and because of the dizzy spells that attack suddenly I am afraid to take long journeys and the pain afterwards is levelling. I know that I have to give up caffeine, sugar and carbonated drinks and of course smoking. But I want to know what can be done for me especially with Bipolar. It is like the 2 feed off each other. I am getting very depressed with the lack of sleep and pain and that is just the beginning.
Avatar n tn hi silkrock i have a great general practitioner dr, great being she knows and understands and believes in the condition. that's a great start. recently she referred me to a rheumatologist who also is familiar with it, and though she couldn't help me much she was certainly dedicated and on side. she just wrote a script and gave me some info from the American rheumatologists website.. another thing I found helpful was breathing and meditation practice.
470168 tn?1237474845 Oh, and I am on both a lupus med and a fibromyalgia med... I am taking Lyrica for the pain, which has been recently approved for fibromyalgia. It knocks a lot of pain out, but I warn you if you aren't on it... it makes you gain weight if you don't watch what you eat. As long as you keep an eye on it, though, you should only gain 5 pounds initially which generally comes off after a few weeks. I am also taking plaquenil, which is used for lupus people.
Avatar n tn I got on some more sites and read alot about B-12 (and its different forms). Lots of people with fibromyalgia report numbness and tingling like feelings and I saw where the B vitamins have helped them. I used to take alot of vitamins but as I began other programs I limitted what I took so that my clinical picture was more clear. I also read where most people have a normal blood level of B-12 and folate but the vitamin, whether oral, or sl or inj. really helped.
Avatar f tn You should look it up. Tartaric acid needs yeast metabolites and indirectly sugar and carbs to grow, so an anti-fungal type of diet usually does wonders for FMS sufferers. Proper breathing will also help, as improper breathing reduces oxygen levels in body cells and promotes chronic diseases. There are many studies that link chronic diseases to improper breathing! Check this out at the normal breathing website. There are a lot of things that can be done.
Avatar n tn Recurrent headaches and tiredness are the last to go; since you have fibromyalgia also it will be difficult to say if the tiredness and fatigue is due to an after effect of meningitis or fibromyalgia. Please give yourself some more time before you take charge. Take care!
Avatar f tn If you suspect food allergies, testing can be done (but this is painful and can be quite lengthy). Coffee, sugar, chocolates, artificial sweetners, dyes, food additives, gluten (and many more) can all effect FMS and induce symptoms. It is recommended to add more fruits and vegetables to the diet, as well as chicken and fish...using red meats sparingly.
Avatar f tn It was extremely painful and it started when my sugar levels became normal. My sugar levels are fine now and I will never let them become out of control again. I did try capsaicin but it didn't help much for me. Thank you for your responses.
Avatar f tn Warm baths, LOW refined sugar diet, SUGAR is toxic!!!!, and try to avoid emotional drama trauma at all costs. God bless.
Avatar f tn I have Fibro, MS,chronic daily headaches-and a few other issues. Anyway I have been working wth a nutritionist for 13 weeks. Gluten free, grain free, sugar and it's fake sugar friends. . THere has been no change I can feel. I have gained 15 pounds on this food plan. Lots of nuts and nut butters and olive and coconut oil. Point is gluten free for 13 days and no change in Fibro aches and pains.

1268150 tn?1271958394 I just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I've had Bipolar disorder for 13 years. I have had horses, dogs, and cats all my life. Since I was diagnosed with fibro, I don't know how to take care of them like I should. For instance, I have a one month old colt and I haven't been able to train him. I also have a three year old gelding that I raised and now is about to be broke to ride. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Each of us seems to be sensitive to different foods but often it is dairy, gluten, sugar and caffiene. Research like crazy and share with us here and you will get lots of advice, again, some things work for some and other things for others.
Avatar n tn You describe multiple symptoms, only some of which could represent fibromyalgia. The most severe ones you report could be consistent with the diagnosis, but other things such as the vision changes, temperature intolerance, and palpitations/shortness of breath may need to be further evaluated by your primary care physician.
1534024 tn?1294249675 So it would feel as if there was someone on one side pulling me from my head and one on another pulling me at my feet and stretching me out. The pain is annoying and bad enough that I have to try and focus on something else to ignore it or thinking about it makes me want to cry. I've had it before and the pain will last for a week or more and then go away. When this happens my nerves are really sensitive to cold or touch.
Avatar f tn ) With the extra malic acid and magnesium, fibromyalgia sufferers can handle exercise and still get out and about the next day. The combination magnesium and malic acid may also be helping the bodies handle physiologic stress better. (Caution: People with heart or kidney problems should check with their doctors before taking supplemental magnesium.) Antioxidants help reduce free-radical damage and fight inflammation.
Avatar f tn Food additives including MSG (momosodium glutamine) and nitrates, 3. Sugar, fructose, and simple carbohydrates, 4. Caffeine, 5. Yeast and gluten, 6. Dairy, 7. Nightshade plants. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn I'm in a little ADD group on facebook and i was posting my symptoms and one friend PMed me and told me she thinks i have fibromyalgia instead. She has it herself. She recommended this book called What you Doctor may not tell you about fibromyalgia. I have been hurting a lot lately. I started a job at McDonald's on May 3rd and that contributes to it but i should have gotten used to it but I haven't. I've had to reduce my days and hours.
