Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and mucinex

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I have Fibromyalgia and CFS. I found posts on the internet that said Mucinex worked to stop Fibro pain. I had nothing to lose so I tried it. It worked for me. Take a ton of vitamins and supplements. Had my amalgams removed. Looking for a good Dr. to continue treatment because I still suffer greatly from CFS. Some days I can't get out of bed still. But I am not in the excruciating pain. I take 600 mg Extended release Mucinex at night.
975514 tn?1325001538 In addition to the community here, MedHelp also offers tools to help you and your doctor in your road to wellness. Fibromyalgia and CFS can be so intricate and can have so many different symptoms. Due to this, it is very helpful that MedHelp offers health trackers for us to utilize. We can track our progress and especially our flare ups. Below are just a few trackers that I find useful. • CFS/FMS Tracker - http://www.medhelp.org/land/health-trackers • Pain Tracker - http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia so and am in grad school and working so fatigue is my middle name . I wear a mouth guard and washed real good thinking maybe there was some bacteria on it or something .
Avatar f tn I have been using mucinex to help clear up the phlem and i am still have coughing fits, but no more phlem.
Avatar n tn pdf And just google it for other articles and medical publications. This is lumped together with Fibromyalgia much of the time, which can exist in conjunction with MPD, but is most definitely different, but many people recognize the name "Fibromyalgia". It may help you to find the "right" doctor. Good luck!
Avatar n tn What doctor thinks saline solution needs a script?! He also suggested Mucinex (guaifenesin) which I took today and which helped drainage but only for a couple of hours. My GP insisted it wasn't time for an ENT. Very frustrating. He seemed to think this wasn't the same problem I've been having since May, like he thought I just had several small sinus infections and not one eight-month-long illness.
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.

Avatar n tn It began with complete ear fullness. Went to internist, and he gave me Rhinocort and said to take Sudafed. It then appeared to go away for 2 weeks. Then it returned, but not to the severity as the first time. I proceeded to an ENT who peformed the test analyzing the pressure in the inner ear canals. Came back negative. I have continued to use the Rhinocort along with Sudafed and Claritin D. I then began to experience slight jaw pain in the area below the ear. Hurts when I chew.
Avatar n tn I first went to a nurse practioner who said it was all my ears and to take mucinex. I did so but continued to get orse which is when I seen my internist. She was flipping out about how bad it was and wanted me in the hospital, I refused and did meds. I was on steroids for 30 days. I have been fine until now. My symptoms started again yesterday and I go see my internist this week. SO maybe you should find an internist and good luck I think it is more serious then some doctors are acting.
Avatar m tn I got sick of it so I went to the doctor who checked my ears and said that it did look sore in there and perhaps I had an infection so they prescribed a low dose of amoxicillin. I took about 1/3 of the dose and stopped because the symptoms went away. I didnt like the side effects (bad stomach) so I stopped taking it since the vibrating had stopped. The vibrating came back though after a few days, and it became a constant sense of vibrating.
Avatar m tn I have Fibromyalgia and I am having trouble sleeping sometimes I'll go for 3 to 4 days without sleep is there anything that I should be doing to help me sleep. Also is there any good medications that could help me sleep better? Help me I need sleep!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar m tn I eat a bananas every day and drink 2 glass of milk per day to try to keep my calcium and potassium up. I have noticed if I sleep with my legs spread apart as far apart as I can get them it keeps my legs from hurting when I sleep. I recently had a physical exam my cholesterol is 131, HDL 47, LDL 73, Triglycerides 94, VLDL 19, blood pressure 69 over 120. When I was young I road my bicycle 30+ mile every day.
Avatar n tn My primary doctor seems to think that I am suffering from Station Tube Dysfunction caused by the swelling in my sinuses, I haven't found much on the web about it but I was given another steroid called Methylprednisolone and plain Mucinex (not MucinexD or DM) to help treat the swelling or compression of the station tube running from my sinuses to my ear. So far so good but this the first morning of treatment. I plan to update this forum if this helps.
Avatar f tn just purchased a book titled "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia Fatigue", and in it the author (Dr. R. Paul St. Amand, M.D.) mentions a protocol that he himself uses, and that he also tells all of his fibro patients to try. It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear.
Avatar f tn I had the white coated tongue this weekend. For me... this is something that has come & gone for many years now. I take Mucinex and these chinese herbs that remove dampness and then it goes away.
Avatar n tn I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
216278 tn?1308864682 for fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism (which I can't get a doctor to diagnose) were many! So, I then looked up 'infertility' and saw what was mentioned there. I figured it can't hurt if I am taking something that all THREE subjects recommend (since I have been told that I have fibromyalgia and infertility (have I told you how much I dislike that word? I am not infertile. I am not dead!
Avatar n tn Since October, I have had inner ear pain, neck and jaw pain, and sometimes shoulders and facial pain as well. I also get headaches and sore spots on my head at times.
922048 tn?1387946184 In all the previous years, they would give me 1 or 2 tabs of Diflucan and send me on my way. Problem is it never actually went away. And now that I really have been thinking about it, I think that this yeast (candida) problem has been going on for many years and is a systemic problem! (candidiasis) Here's where it gets really interesting. I think that this candida might be the cause of most of my health issues, including my recurrent pregnancy loss! Candida is a fungus. Ewww! Yuck!
6442564 tn?1383233043 There have been some studies (apparently controversial) that Guaifenessin can help detox the body by loosening up phosphate deposits in the muscles and ligaments... There has been some anecdotal success with fibromyalgia patients and decreased pain....He told me to try it for 2 months and see what happens. I'll try it and see how it goes... He didn't diagnose me with fibro but told me to try it. He himself has had some success.
Avatar n tn No, it's not "all in your head." The pain is real. Maybe your doctor could try Neurontin (gabapentin). It helps a lot of people and the side effect profile is very benign. Lots of times, fibromyalgia is "stuck" fascia and myofascial release works wonders. You might consult a massage therapist, a PT, or a chiropractor about that. It's worth a try. Stuck fascia will not come loose without intervention in the form of massage or ultrasound, etc. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I would also highly recommend a B-Complex vitamin, magnesium (I buy the powered form)and Guaifenesin (Mucinex). Walgreens now sells a generic form of Mucinex... highly recommended for CFS & fibromyalgia patients'.
401095 tn?1351395370 Use your own judgment about your needs and what you feel is best for you and what you are comfortable with and customize your own detox list to your preferences/needs. These things may help lessen WDs; others have reported good success. What Symptoms To Expect Vicodin has a half-life of 4-8 hours; therefore, WDs will begin for most between 8-16 hours after last dose taken. Most people express that detox feels like a case of the flu.
1571878 tn?1354953383 I would wake up in the mornings still tripping, and would have a blast exercising and going to school and work. I finished the bottle and moved on with life. But I couldn't. Every few days, I would buy another bottle, drink half, trip, do it again the next night, then swear I would never do it, again. Except, I would always find an excuse.
165026 tn?1514171116 Just went to an ENT last week and he's certain I don't have a sinus infection and he's set up hearing/ear tests and an appt with an allergist. Like you, I want to know if the facial pressure/pain, fatigue, etc. can be caused by allergies. I've been online for a couple hours now and I can't find anything that says facial pressure is caused by allergies, but I'll ask the ENT and allergist of course. When I hear I'll post what they said. If anyone else has any info I'd like to hear it too.

242516 tn?1368227505 A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread. A bacteria is its own living cell and multiplies and spreads on its own and is easier to destroy in that process. Speaking of outbreaks, influenza is finally reaching Palo Alto right around now.
Avatar f tn It is 4 a.m. and I am desperately trying to figure out why I continue to break out in hives and have joint pain in my elbows, feet, hands and legs. I too started breaking out in hives after taking the antibotic Solodyn for acne. After a trip to the ER, it was assumed that I had an alergic reaction to the medicine. I stopped taking the medicine after only 3 weeks and needless to say, I am still breaking out in hives and have joint pain. I have been tested for allergies and that was negative.
Avatar n tn Finally one of the Dr's I recently saw prescribed Mucinex DM (Guaifenesin) 20mg every 12hrs, but you can also buy it over the counter. It thins and loosens mucus and it comes in a box of 600mg. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia as well as Myofascial Pain Syndrome, but I have other things going on that I believe are more severe that have unfortunately been dumped in the Fibro basket. It did make my Fibro "flu" symptoms kind of worse but I was sneezing.
