Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and journal

Avatar f tn For my doctor visits before and even now, I write down what I need to ask in advance and prepare a list of any new symptoms and so on (when I think about it) and it helps alot - my appts are much quicker and smoother and I know my dr. appreciates it. Also, Fibromyalgia is new and there are alot in the medical community who think it's a mental disease (which it's not according to the CDC) ask for references for dr's who actually treat the specific diagnosis and start there.
1550149 tn?1340004330 In primary fibromyalgia (also called idiopathic fibromyalgia) the causes are not known, and in secondary fibromyalgia the causes can be identified. Primary fibromyalgia is the more common form. Does anybody more experienced have any advice for me? This can be quite stressful.

543791 tn?1216385377 Hugs---Jamy Fibromyalgia isn't all in my head, and it isn't contagious. It doesn't turn into anything serious and nobody ever died from fibromyalgia thought they might have wished they could on really awful days. I can't control how often I feel good or how often I feel terrible. If you want to read articles or books about fibromyalgia I can show you some that I think are good. If you just want to learn as we go along, that's fine too. This is definitely going to be a process.

374573 tn?1199673746 A few weeks ago I found this site and posted a question about Fibromyalgia and antibiotics. Nicole had recently been on antibiotics for a sinus infection and had 10 glorious days pain free. That after 12 months of pain unless taking strong (addictive) pain medications. She had a brief reprive last spring when being treated for pnemonia which she will also have a chest xray for on Monday as it seems she has it again.
Avatar f tn Yoga, with its low intensity exercise, breathing and meditation reduces the pain, fatigue and sleep problems associated with fibromyalgia. Buy exercise bands and use them for stretching. I have my wife doing this and very light weights for a few years now and it's helped. Take vitamin D3 and take Omega3 oil at least 500mg 2x per day. I would also check for food allergies.

Avatar f tn It definetly sounds like fibromyalgia. I have been diagnosed by a neurologist and really relate to what you are saying about pain. The treatment I ended up getting was Gabapentin, 100 mg 3 times a day. It took a good month or more before the meds started working and it is definetly not a cure. However, it helps keep the flare ups at bay.

Avatar m tn • Seem to get sick from antibiotics I have been tested for a lot of things and am running out of things it could be. I spent some time at the mayo clinic seeing various specialists and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia basically because they just couldn’t find anything wrong with me so I struggle with accepting the diagnosis. All tests and bloodwork seem to come back normal except a moderately elevated anti-histone and slightly elevated liver enzymes.

Headaches all the time, brain fog and memory problems. I have kind of just assumed that this was just me but it is extremely frustrating. I've never had a diagnosis.
