Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia and joint pain

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I have had migratory joint pain for 4 weeks. It started in my knee, and has traveled from joint to joint. It gets so bad that I cannot climb stairs by the end of the night without difficulty. I have difficulty writing due to the hand and wrist pain. I am stiff and sore in the joints in the mornings, it gets better during the day and then the pain is severe in the evenings. I have had blood tests for Lupus, Rhematoid arthritis, lymes and parvo and they have been all negative.

Avatar f tn The characteristic difference between Fibromyalgia and other joint disorder is that Fibromyalgia presents with muscle pain. Unlike arthritis, the incapacitating pain is not in the joints but in the muscles and ligaments. Fibromyalgia is known for presentation of pain at specific sites known as tender points or tender spots. The pain is commonly located in the neck, shoulders, back, and hip and the tender points are located in the same regions.

Avatar f tn You know all the doctors always want to put people on antidepressants for Fibro but I've yet to hear that they work at relieving the pain. I know several people like yourself is on something but they still have pain and the numbing and tingling. Have you been offically diagnosed. It sounds like you are one of the lucky ones that its mild, of coarse nobody should have to deal with this at any degree. All that I listed above is what I have experienced.

Avatar n tn I have really bad muscle and joint pain. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have started having elevated CPK levels and the doctor is talking about doing a muscle biopsy. Avatar f tn ) to get rid of muscle pain, exercise regularly (walking, yoga, stretching) to get rid of joint pain and joint stiffness and quit refined sugar, gluten and dairy. I am now in remission. I still suffer from fatigue but nothing like it used to be! This seems to be the magic formula for me. Also, I take magnesium citrate at night for anxiety and sleep. I sleep through the night for the first time in my life.
1033336 tn?1252509731 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.
Avatar f tn They can eliminate all the other rheumatoid and autoimmune disorders and confirm a fibromyalgia diagnosis. They will also be able to prescribe meds that will effectively treat your symptoms. Don't give up until you find the combo that works right for you. I've had fibro my whole life and have had to fight to get any relief. Hot baths and heating pads are my best friends.
Avatar f tn In the mean time I couldn't take it and went to the rhemy whom I just saw in Janurary. I have seen him 3 times in 8 years with joint pain and fatigue and a possitive ANA and rhemotod factors and so forth. Avatar n tn Complaints of fatigue and joint pains are, unfortunately, very common. fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by muscular aches and pains, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists. In fact, many patients who believe they have this condition are often derided by their doctors.
Avatar n tn The other thing i have started to take recently is a combination of glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM which is a natural type of anti inflammatory as i have a lot of pain all over my body. I will have to wait and see if it help's.At least it is a from natural sources.
Avatar f tn It seems like this condition happens when I have not much pain and try to get everything I need to do in a couple days and then the next day I cannot move. On a good day if I sit for more than 20-30 minutes I stiffen up and takes a while to move again at all. My knees joints are very painful. My doctors has referred me to a rheumotolgist and suspects this could be my diagnosis.
1168938 tn?1327157832 Hi Jibs I've had 2 neuro's over the last 4 years but they concentrated on my myoclonic jerks, when I mentioned all pains etc they just said your muscles are bound to hurt because of the jerking, my jerks are in my torso and spine, that does not explain my muscle and joint pains in my arms, wrists and hands. I think because the myoclonus is visible they concentrate on that and can't see passed it.
358486 tn?1294779988 i just had cervical disc surgery with fushion on oct 31,and previous to that i had 2 disc removed from my lumbar region. what should i do? i just saw my neurosurgeon last week and was diagnosed with si joint dysfunction, also. please, i'd appreciate any info on this condition! thank you!!
Avatar n tn I do have rheumatoid artritis and some of your symptoms (jaw problems and joint pain) are somethings that I deal with. RA diagnoses is a very simple blood test and it maybe be worth checking out with your doctor. Again, I'm not a physician and am coming at this from my own personal experience. I wish you the very best and hope you get through this with a minimal expense and with positive results. Let us know how you are doing.
769745 tn?1345750012 In particular, fibromyalgia sufferers are apt to feel neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pack and pain in the waist, ribs, buttocks, and knees. A common example of one such symptom is pungent or strong-smelling urine. The patient may feel embarrassed to even bring up the topic with her physician. Genitourinary symptoms involve the private parts and it is never easy to discuss these details, even with medical professionals.
Avatar n tn I love not feelign pain though. First time since I was 18 that I have not had joint pain constantly. Joint pain used to keep me up at night, so at least with the insomnia from Lyrica, I'm not in pain while being up. :) Other thing it is helping with is my Raynauds. My hands and feet aren't constantly cold. I don't get that tingling sensation (pins and needles or feet going to sleep, but for me it's liek the whole leg or the hands). I have to check back in with my doctor next month.
Avatar f tn Well I've takin this in the past and didnt improve sleep. I've always been tired thoughout the day... but the pain the knees and fingers is really bad. I take ib and aleve on a daily bases. I've had tinging and numbness in my hands and feet for 5+ years. I just think fibromyalgia is just a way doctors dont know whats wrong with you so they tell you have this. Need some answers.. wondering about seeing another doctor.
Avatar f tn One possibility is fibromyalgia. Apart from fibromyalgia multiple joint pain is seen in hypothyroidism, low Vitamin D levels, Low Vit B12 levels, anemia, Hashimotos thyroiditis, gout (can sometimes cause multiple joint pain), rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, SLE, electrolyte disturbance particularly those involving calcium and magnesium, parathyroid gland problems, chondrocalcinosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Avatar n tn It could also be a symptom of Fibromyalgia - but you didn't mention if you hurt anywhere else and if you hurt during the day. I would try a multivitamin/multimineral supplement to see if perhaps you are missing something in your diet. - Please let us know how you fare.

Avatar n tn Peace everyone, I recently had suffered pain in my joints, knees and hands, analysis showed an ESR of 17 the first hour, and 43 the second. It is hard to walk, to hold my kid, or drive. For six months now and I am unable to know the problem, coz it was not that hard and I went to the wrong doctors, I mean not the same specialties. Now I knew the problem aand I need to know the treatment. What is it and what is the needed time for such treatment.
Avatar n tn It is usually very elevated in in most FMS patients that experience significant muscle and joint pain. Elevated PMS pain is often indicative of high Tartaric acid levels as well. Tartaric acid interferes with the Krebs cycle which is your major energy producing cycle and is a muscle toxin. Also, if your doctor is not a LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor) do a search and find one asap! You could be suffering unnecessarily for the rest of your life.
