Fetal development ultrasound at 12 weeks

Common Questions and Answers about Fetal development ultrasound at 12 weeks

1431138 tn?1294570494 I was just wondering cause a friend of mine is 12 weeks and said they told her there were girl parts today at her ultrasound. I think that's way too early to tell so I was just wondering.
Avatar f tn i had an ultrasound last week at 21 weeks. the doctor said one of the baby's kidneys had a little too much fluid in it. he said the normal range is up to 5 mm of fluid, and my baby was borderline at 7mm. he didn't say what this could indicate...just that it's something he would recommend keeping an eye on. i have an appt with my regular doctor next week and of course will discuss it with him, but i want some other mommy input. does anyone have any experience with this or have more info for me?
Avatar n tn We conceived again on July 22nd and today my wife went in for her first ultrasound and at what should be ten weeks our baby's heartbeat showed to only be at 7 weeks development. I'm afraid the details are sketchy at best, as I was told by my wife over the phone. There is no confusion about the conception date, as she knew pretty much right away - amazing how that happens, isn't it? - and we weren't in the same city in the weeks that followed due to her work obligations.
Avatar n tn I just found out I am pregnant with twins had a vaginal u/s done on 2/12 they told me they measure at 8 weeks which I thought I was between 10-12 weeks they found no heartbeat in either one. They wanted to schedule a D & C but I refuse, I have no signs of miscarrying nor have I lost any symptoms of being pregnant. Any advice or similar stories is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn First ultrasound the heartbeat was 98 at around 7 weeks. We had a series of ultrasounds after that where the heartbeat was in the 80s and then 60s on so on until finally at 8w5d it just stopped. I chose to have a d&c because I knew I wouldnt be able to handle a naural m/c. After that we tried again and I had another m/c at 6 weeks. We tried for a third time and I got pg with my first son and after some spotting and bleeding episodes we were able to get him here.
Avatar n tn I got another ultrasound today at 7w3d and there was a fetal pole and a heartbeat at 140 bpm. The fetal pole measured at 7w1d. Everyone is different. It's hard not to worry but 6 weeks is too early sometimes. Good luck to everyone. ps...my drop in temp was only for one day and it went back up. Dr. said sometimes drops happen for different reasons and told me to stop taking my temp. i don't anymore b/c it can add unecessary worry.
7530804 tn?1398550371 Im 29 weeks and ive only had 2. One at 8 weeks and one at 20 weeks. They say u cant tell the gender till at least 16 weeks. Ill get one more around 36 weeks but i will have to pay for that one.
Avatar n tn It is hard to believe that you would still have HCG in your system if, let's say, your baby stopped developing at 5 weeks and here you are at 10 wks. That would've been FIVE weeks that have gone by. Miscarriages usually happen WITHIN 3 weeks of the embryo stopping development. Good luck to you. Let us know what your HCG levels are!
Avatar f tn Also, be sure to tell your MD the truth so that everything can be done--for example, if you were my patient, I would offer an early ultrasound to check for any problems with the baby's development. Folic acid reduces the risk of spina bifida--that is why we recommend that one. I hope this helps! I hope you can remain sober and have a healthy baby! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I'm guessing they might wait until my level II ultrasound in two weeks(??). Or maybe I will get my results at my next prenatal visit, which is in about a week. Last time, the fetal monitoring clinic called me directly to let me know, but it took about 2 weeks to get the results.
183933 tn?1290220562 I am almost 7 weeks pregnant. At 6 1/2 weeks pregnant I had my first ultrasound done. I know it's early, but I did ivf. Anyway, my RE said that my embryo was measuring at 6 wks, and there was no heartbeat. She said it could go either way for me. Either the embryo stopped growing and died at six weeks, or it's just a little behind and there will be a heartbeat at my next ultrasound next week, when I will be 7 weeks and 2 days. Any comments? Should I be expecting the worse?
Avatar n tn went the next week at 9 weeks an everything ok, baby perfect. now at nearly 11 weeks we had sex and exactly two days after (to be more precise after a bowel movement) i had bleeding in the same amount as the first time. is it just coincidence. we havent had sex in these months except for those 2 occasions. anynone has any suggestions?
Avatar m tn The dr's did an ultrasound at 8 wks and showed development of 6 wks, no heartbeat. I came back 2 weeks later for a followup scan to look for growth and there was none. I opted not to have a D&C because I wanted to be sure. It passed on its own a few weeks later with no problems. I can't help you out with hormone levels because the NHS doesn't generally do that. Best of luck and let us know what happens.
Avatar n tn By 3 ultrasounds spaced a week apart should have resulted in at least a yolk or fetal pole if not a heartbeat. I had nothing but an empty sac once again. I don't think I can sit around and wait for a miscarriage and think I'll schedule the D & C Hope the rest of you are having better luck this month and I sure appreciate all your kind words and prayers.
Avatar n tn The doctor could not hear a heart beat at 10 weeks we waited two more weeks and did an ultrasound at 12 weeks and still no heart beat. Had an DNC and within in 2 week I was pg again and everything went fine. Doctor said something happens in the chromizones at the start of development and that it is very common. Didn't make it any easier still felt like I lost a baby. But the DNC did make it much eaiser to get pg right away.
Avatar f tn pregnancy. Then ultrasound. Make sure baby's development is going good because with high sugars development of baby can be compromised. Especially his heart & organs. Not at first visit but eventually they will schedule appointment with a cardiologist and they will see if everything is good. Uhm what else oh and every visit they will give u sonograms and tell you weight of the baby if he is on target. Its about it nothing bad. If your sugars are controlled then a piece of cake.
Avatar n tn 1, 2007 under the Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy section called Premature Rupture of Membranes at 20 weeks. They then outlined the use of Fibrin Glue to seal up the ruptured area. I asked my friend and she isn't sure there is anything they can do because that is what her doctor says, but I think he hasn't read this article. Anyone here ever hear about this? Good luck to all of you in a similar circumstance.
Avatar n tn to answer some questions, we had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and it was the best day. i got to see him swimming around like a little fishy and at that point, they didn't see any problems. when we went for the 19 week US, the technician thought there was something wrong. we were thinking positively because of course we want this baby more than anything in the world.
Avatar n tn I have had 2 previous misscarriages. first one was with twins at 16 weeks-however babies passed at 12 weeks and I had a missed misscarriage and had to have a dnc. second one I only made it to 8 weeks and misscarried on my own. They are just waiting for me to misscarry....should i hold out any hope of this pregnancy?? My husband and I are so so dissappointed again. the emotional roller coaster is alot to handle. any suggestions?
Avatar n tn With the other one I had no bleeding or cramping just went for an ultrasound at 10 weeks and there was no fetal pole. I had a d%c within like 2 days, and never did have a chance to bleed. SO I really really don't know when You may start to bleed or fully pass this baby. I understand what you are saying about being able to pass it so you can grieve, you don't sound like a horrible person. It's hard enough to deal with losing one, even harder to know you're carrying him/her around.
219836 tn?1213547452 I did want to say though that I really think you should push the ultrasound back at least another week or two. Wait to have an ultrasound until you are at least 7 weeks. 6 weeks is still too early and will cause you a lot of concern if you do not see a heartbeat. One week can make a huge difference in what you see from an ultrasound. The heartbeat SHOULD be able to be seen at 7 weeks so I would recommend postponing your ultrasound by 1 week. Good luck.
Avatar n tn There are a million stories on this site of people who had an u/s at six weeks, or seven, and didn't see a heartbeat, and lo and behold at about 9 weeks there it was and everything else too. I don't think you should stress over this yet.
Avatar n tn First of all, your Dr. told you no sex for 2 weeks because your cervix was forced open (dilated) for the d&c. By having sex within those 2 weeks you are risking major infection... My doctor advised no sex for 4 weeks. Every doctor is different. BUT anyway. Were you having your blood HCG levels monitored? It is possible that you may be pg, but the best way to tell is to go back to the doctor. After a miscarriage, it is possible to carry around hcg in your blood for up to 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn I am so sorry for what you are going through. I did have a pregnancy where the fetal pole was not evident at 6.5 weeks and then later a heartbeat was found....I don't know how common that is. My sister had an instance of there being no heartbeat or anything and she was 9 weeks along....she didn't do the D & C and now has a healthy baby girl. Of course, this may not apply to you.
Avatar n tn i went yesterday at 6 weeks 5 days and saw the hb at 120 bpm. are they going to have you go back in for another u/s in a week or so? i meet with my doc right after my u/s, so that stinks you have to wait for the results. as far as the dating, you could have ovulated a little later, or the egg could have been fertilized later than you thought. its totally normal to be off by 5 days like you are. try not to worry too much. you saw the hb which is a wonderful thing!
Avatar n tn The first was at 8 weeks but the gestation sac was a 6w4d size and no fetal pole was detected on ultrasound and the second was at 10 weeks, while the gestation sac was a 7 week size and the fetal pole 6w4d size. No heartbeat was detected then. I am now pregnant a thrid time and am taking progesterone suplements as well as Cartia (Small-dose aspirine). My last menstual period was on the 6th of November, so according to one internet calculator, i am 7w6d today.
191907 tn?1200622479 Ok so for those of you who do not know I did IVF for the frist time approx 6 weeks ago which should place me at 8 weeks pregnant When I went for my first ultrasound at 6 weeks they told me that the sac was smaller then they thought it would be and to come back in a week for another ultrasound which I did The 2nd ultrasoud the sac did not grow and they told me that basically the baby had stopped growing at approx 5.
