2178523 tn?1337618945 Hi and welcome to the pain management community. I am surprised that your surgeon or orthopedic spine specialist or primary care doctor is not helping you taper off of these medications! You shouldn't have cold turkey'd the 100 mcg/hr Fentanyl patch. Instead you are supposed to slowly reduce the Fentanyl by stepping down through the lower dose patches. The Xanax withdrawal can cause life threatening seizures.
Avatar f tn Ok I am over 2 weeks detoxing from 150mcg of the fentanyl patch. Well just since yesterday I have been having severe ,constant paincic attacks. I can't take it! I wish I had some valium or xanax. I can't take it. How long is this gonna freakin last????
Avatar n tn im in detox from fentanyl. my dr. prescribed wellbutrin for 30 days. I was on 50 mg so I was given 25mg and wore the patch for 4 to 5 days before putting on a new one. after my last patch I started on xanax for withdrawls symtoms and put on a catapress patch. this worked real well and I feel like im starting to feel good. there are times my skin hurts and muscles hurt so that's where the xanax helps. I had neck surgery to replace a blown disc and know what pain is like.
Avatar f tn I think you need to wait a while, like I told you...after the Fentanyl, and do one at a time...slowly. Let yourself level out first. Xanax is something that must be tapered very slowly, under the guidance of a doctor. I don't get why a Chiropractor would be working with an MD and why he would be giving ANY advice, as they are not medical doctors with the ability to Rx meds.
Avatar n tn about 2 weeks ago had no oxy left snd i tried to avoid withdrawal with fentanyl patches. 2 of 100 and 1 of 50 but after the simptoms of w/d ended i took them of and put another when simptoms started and so on till this mondey when i finished all the patches i had. monday i had a hard w/d but sedate my self with xanax valium and carmabazepine i got on prescription. yesterday i felt better but i made in fentanyl iv with 10% of an old patch i used only 12 hours and today same.
Avatar f tn I already know how it is to detox from hell b/c I did it in July getting off 150mcg of the evil fentanyl patches. I have am a severe chronic pain patient and live in pain. It took me a month to get rid of the w/ds from the fentanyl and i would never wish them on my worst enemy! Anyway, after suffering everyday with no pain meds for 3 months , just by using 800 motrin and zanaflex, hot baths, heathing pads. I decided to get the radio frequency procedure again and it did not work.
2178523 tn?1337618945 I stopped the patch cold turkey about 5 days ago and am slowly tapering down my oxycodone usage. I am also prescribed 4 mg of Xanax a day, which I am also trying to taper down. I was in a really bad car accident about 5 years ago and have had a total disc replacement at the L5-S1 level as well as a neurostimulator implanted. Unfortunately when the implanted the stimulator they put the paddle a little too far to the left, so I get no stimulation on the right side.
Avatar f tn I am on fentanyl 75 mg patch xanax 2 three times a day and percocet. My patch burst and I dont know if I should put on another or not I just started these.
1931795 tn?1336358887 After a bad accident several years ago i have had to have an almost complete spinal fusion/reconstruction. My name, Huey Right Seater will give you a clue, but if you don't know what a Huey is don't worry about it too much - those who do know understand why I am a bit secretive about this for fear of losing something that I love and make a good living doing.
Avatar f tn s play compared to the Fentanyl. Fentanyl is MUCH stronger. The worst thing with the Xanax will probably be the anxiety, which again, you can deal with that later. Let yourself do one thing at a time...don't start getting yourself more anxious thinking of what's to come with the other meds. Don't worry about that right now. You're doing amazing!
Avatar m tn I read about this and remember when I quit Fentanyl. Fentanyl did me so much damage, it almost killed me. I went cold turkey which is difficult but worth the result. Keeping you mind strong that you need to get control of you mind and body and not the drugs is the most important focus. You will feel much better once the drug is out of you system and you will be able to think clearer. Keep the advise mentioned here and stay on top of vitamins.
Avatar f tn (the only one that takes cash w/ no Insurance and told him I wanted off,not only because it makes my anxiety worse. He also has me on 10mg xanax, oxycodone 10 3 times a day.Fentanyl is down to 25mcg. He actually got angry and walked out of the room, called in 90 tramadol 50mg and .02 clonidine blood pressure patches.Tomorrow is the last day of my patch. Am I going to be okay? Does anyone know what can happen. I haven't abused my meds but have real chronic pain. I have no Insurance...
Avatar f tn I’m trying to stop fentanyl 30s. So far the most I get without taking them is three days and I don’t know why I just can’t take the anxiety I’ve tried Xanax but I end up just going back to the 30s so I honestly don’t know what to do right now he is going to be my 24th hour clean and I really just want to get out of this I’ve been trying to stop since my birthday which was May 18.
516810 tn?1211590206 For the past year I have been taking 75 mcg fentanyl patches every three days.I need and want to stop and get back to living a clean FUN life.I don't get them by prescription so I can not goto a dr to taper off.I have tried on my own and it was total HELL! The thought of those feelings again scares me to death.I read about Suboxone and wonder if someone here can tell me how it worked for them. Also money wise how much did it run?
Avatar f tn I'm not an expert at gettin clean but I've had my share of battles with Fentanyl. I'm sure you know that the Fentanyl patch is as close to actual herion as you can get. Last year I was using 150 mics every 48 hours for what I thought was chronic pain...was only supposed to be on a 75mic patch every 72 hours. One day I ran out of my patches and was not prepared for what was about to happen as this was my first experince with a pain med this powerful.
Avatar f tn My spine doctor placed me on 50mg Fentanyl Patches 6 months ago. It definately helped me with the pain, but when I started reading the terrible side effects I decided I wanted to go off this medication. With the help of my pain doctor, I decided to go cold turkey. Today is day 3. Night time is worse. Bet I haven't had more than 3 hours sleep in the past 3 nights. Skin is crawling, stomach feels like hundreds of worms are just squirming all over.
Avatar f tn I'll tell from experience that the fentanyl patches are he11 to get off of. Fentanyl is 80 times stronger than morophine. You are far better off tapering off the Percs then to go fooling around with those crazy patches. Trust me, if you want to msg me I would be happy to talk with you about them.
Avatar n tn IM sorry I never took xanax for a long period of time.I read alot about it here though.Type xanax addiction in the search boc above and it should show you everything you need to know about it.Its tough to get off of.Probably tougher then vics. Its and emotional battle.Everthing I read seemed horrible.Stay away if you can.
Avatar f tn Forget the subutex or suboxone. Detox is worse than fentanyl and withdrawal lasts even longer. You'll just be putting off the inevitable. There is no way to completely avoid some minor withdrawal symptoms. Seriously, the norco should easily cover a 12.5 mcg drop in fentanyl. If you've not taken xanax or other benzos for even a few months, the valium will still help you sleep. Hope you're doing OK!
Avatar m tn I am into day 6 or 7 of no fentanyl after 10+ years. This is rough I'm kickin this on my own and hell can hardly be much worse. Is anyone else out there trying to do it his way. I know it's dangerous to do it this way but I haven't completely lost what little is left of my brain. Fentanyl has to be the beast of all drugs and I've been through all of them before. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Well I do know for a fact that both Fentanyl and Dilaudid have very short half lives, fentanyl in particular. The only thing about fentanyl is apparantly the gel from the patch can stay under your skin and continue to release for a few days even after the patch is removed. Dilaudid half life is about 5hrs and from what ive read fentanyl is even shorter, perhaps 1-3hrs. But I dont know. I woke up today, 2hrs past 3.5 days and I still feel relatively normal.
14468396 tn?1434674089 10 years ago I had the Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass surgery, which gave me malabsorption syndrome. That means that food, vitamins, minerals, meds, ect...do NOT digest in my "pouch", they digest in the lower intestine or go through my liver. So all meds had to be adjusted. I have had the same doctor for 3 years, she put me on Fentanyl 25 every 72 hours and 4 norco 5/325 for break through pain.
Avatar f tn There are other opioids with fewer attenuate side effects than fentanyl. Hydromorphone is one of those I recommend. What exactly have you read about fentanyl? That it might result in physical dependence? Given that you are clearly a chronic pain patient, why is this an issue for you? It is your medication. Would anybody ask a diabetic to stop taking insulin? A Crohn's/Colitis patient to stop mesalamine? If it is something that you need, it is something that you need.
Avatar m tn So far this xanax withdrawal is just as bad. Fentanyl is just a few molecules away from heroin so I know first hand what it's like to suffer. Most of this is my fault...I should have been more careful but now I know.
Avatar n tn I'm curious as to what you're doing for your original pain? I was on Fentanyl, along with various narcotic breakthrough meds but felt like the Fentanyl changed me. It's hard to describe. I came off the Fentanyl easily enough since I was on the breakthrough meds. Now I'm down to 10 to 20 mg. of oxycodone every six hours. I've always wanted to come off to see where my real pain is but I think fear has kept me from trying. But I am still trying, though slowly.
