1264863 tn?1391118193 Tell him about not being happy with the weight gain, he might have a solution. The doctor needs to address your depression. Fentanyl is a great pain med, but you have to be comfortable with your meds. The problem with the patches is the smaller you are the harder it is to find a "spot" where they are comfortable on your body. Keep us advised.
Avatar f tn Methadone absolutely has made me gain weight and I do days of total fasting, with no loss. I take methadone for cripling back pain. Will switching to opana allow me to lose the weight I've put on and help back pain, which the methadone was taking more and more with less relief?
Avatar f tn It just has so many calories and fat in it. The last thing I want to do in all this is gain weight cuz that will make me so depressed.
Avatar f tn I believe the weight gain is from my ankle fusion surgery not the medications... just as someone mentioned above I think maybe since you found some relief or comfort that you are not as depressed and feeling better I am sure you probably eat better and don't even notice it... Good luck!
Avatar f tn My Question is pure & simple....Does methadone cause weight gain? I read so many of peoplesaying it does, ome say no whats the truth?? Why wont someone a professional that knows exactly everything about this drug come clean!!
Avatar f tn We have a member (Namnam) that has experienced the same side effect to Fentanyl - weight loss. Luckily she claimed she had weight to lose. It did level off and she didn't continue to lose weight. In time you may have experienced the same results. I think she's been on Fentanyl for about 5 years. It's the only thing that controls her pain. As our Remar suggested talk to your prescribing physician.
Avatar m tn I got hurt 6 years ago and had surgery, it was successful for about 3 years I was able to go to the gym and workout and then it got painful again caused me to gain almost 100 pounds in the past 3 years. I know that the weight gain is not making my knees any better because it's like bearing 1000lbs of weight on them. My job requires standing and that's when I have the most pain and can barely walk after a couple hours of being on my feet, that's why I only take the meds at work.
Avatar f tn I finally did and still trying to put back the weight I lost but my body does not want to respond. I have gained some weight but not the healthy weight I had. It has been over a year since I kicked and still trying to balance out my system for the weight I lost. I am off all the pain medication now. I have seen what this stuff does and how it almost killed me. Sorry to hear of what you went through with your spouse.
Avatar m tn I owned a dispensary for three years and saw the most amazing changes in quality of life within cancer patients. It really was heartwarming to see chemo patients gain weight every week. It may not replace the fentanyl but it will easily cut it in half and allow you to sleep.
Avatar f tn I know all these meds have taken my quality of life go way down. I want my life back and the weight gain since I have not been able to be functional has made me really depressed and not being allowed to drive over this has confined me to be stuck at home , and taking showers and baths have interfered at lot because with experience these patches are not waterproof as they claim. So any advice is welcomed. I am thru with this mess and want to reclaim my quality of life again.

Avatar n tn Hi everyone..I have been dealing with Firbromyalgia for 10 years now and for the past year and half I have been on the Fentanyl patch. I am currently on 50 m every 3 days. I want to get off of these badly! I'm sick of the side effects like not sleeping and weight gain.... I feel like I need to just clean my body out of all of it and see where I'm at with the pain. I don't even know!
Avatar n tn Starting on a relatively low to moderate dose is usual practice- this is incrementally increased depending on Meds . weight for weight Fentanyl is way stronger- I mean like 100 times stronger , but that's weight for weight . Substitution equations don't relate directly, which is why a decent professional will err on the safe side and increase bit by bit rather than have you OD. The process is called Titrating.
7598782 tn?1392903245 a reminder of what life used to be like, so when the agony came back it killed me. My reduced activity lead to a 50 lb weight gain, then finally my PCP & l came up with an effective Fentanyl/Dilaudid dose. Once the pain was under control, l started moving around more and dropping some pounds. In August 2012 l moved out of state for my husband's job. Because of my medications, l could not find a doctor (PCP or otherwise) to accept me as a patient.
Avatar f tn Look up weight gain according to BMI and it will give you a good idea on the amount of weight you should gain according to your body type.

8829133 tn?1400867913 to the point i hate to wash it because the tub will be full of hair and that scares me. my dr said my thyroid is fine. I also cannot gain weight for anything. I try to take in at least 3000 calories a day. I drink 3 boost extra protein with a pack of carnation instant breakfast mixed in it along with regular meals and I usually lose a few pounds when I go back to the dr. at 6'1" I weigh 122 lbs with clothes on. I sure don't burn a lot of calories laying in bed day and night.

Avatar n tn You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.
Avatar m tn I have pain in my abdominal area and have lost weight and I am unable to gain any weight back so I stay between 88 and 93 lbs and am also starting to think that maybe 150 mg is Way to much for how small I am? I an seeing different doctors every week basically to try and figure out what's going in with me so that I can get the hell if these patches but I am so nervous and scared to get off of them and have to go through what other people have had to.
Avatar f tn I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. And now it's been almost 2 weeks and still no weight gain. Could that mean anything? Or is it just normal? Thanks in advance!
