Avatar f tn Thank you both for your responses! Yes, I should have clarified better, I have been put on the 50 mcg/h Fentanyl patch. Long story short, I have had arthritis all my life, then 5 years ago was hit head on in a car wreck. Broke every bone in my legs except my left femur, and 20 other bones. I was in the hospital for a month and have had somewhere close to 20 surgeries since then. So I have major pain issues and since have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
1176986 tn?1264917842 The reservoir patch gets its name from the fact that the fentanyl is contained in a reservoir. In Duragesic fentanyl patches and authorized generics such as the Sandoz fentanyl patch, this reservoir will be filled with a fentanyl gel." "There is no fentanyl gel in a matrix style patch. Mylan pharmaceuticals makes a matrix patch. A matrix fentanyl patch places the fentanyl in adhesive. There is therefore no gel to link.
Avatar m tn A true taper should be very slow with Fentanyl. It is harder to come off than most other meds. I tapered and then jumped to oxycodone and tapered from that. If you feel crappy, ask to slow the taper down. The lower you go the more you feel it. The Thomas rexipe will help and there's lots of things to help your symptoms. When you feel symptoms, post and people will tell you what will help. It's worth coming off.

Avatar m tn Nick, Please don't beleive that the fentanyl patch delivers seven days of a therapeutic level dose. It is not true that it is able to deliver any more than the package states. For some patients these patches only produce a therapeutic dose of medication for 48 hours and not the 72 hours promised. If it works seven days for you, you are the extreme exception. Don't misunderstand me, I am glad that it does work that long for you.
Avatar n tn All the pain meds can have serious side effects and alot of it depends on how you take it. Fentanyl for example has been the blame for over doses but so has Oxycontin. In your case, I'm not sure that the Fentanyl Patch would be right for you anyway. You should be on a stronger pain med like Oxycontin or Oxycodone before you switch to the Fentanyl otherwise the Patch would be much too strong for you.
Avatar n tn I have been put on a fentanyl patch 25 mcg recently. I have a bizarre circumstance that my body adjusts and clears out medications in an expedited way. For example, over the last three weeks, I have gone thru Vicodin, then Norco, then OxyContin, now Fentanyl. I will be having surgery on 3/31, then hopefully my painful condition will start to improve. With all the posts on Fentanyl withdrawl, I am terrified of going thru that.
611067 tn?1458591483 for instance when a methadone user wants to quit i mention kim715...for fentanyl i mention jacquii...would it be ok to send benzo users ur way?
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
Avatar f tn I see from most of the oxys users that they start to see a tick up. It must be because of the Fentanyl (Da#$ F#$$$%). My sister stopped over and tried to convince me to just take one of my percs (I have then for my back pain). I resisted but boy oh boy, was that hard. I think I may need to stay away from her until I don't feel this bad. Cripes, I feel like I am carrying around a extra hundred pounds, moving is once again a chore. IS THIS EVER GOING TO GET BETTER!?
1386676 tn?1280247305 Hello All I was wondering if anybody else out there has had any experiences of using fentanyl patches (especially uk durogesic and matrifen users that were previously on tilofyl or other brand gel based patches) that have had problems with withdrawal symptoms either from faulty patches, changeing to a different patch brand or changing over from oral morphine or other strong oral opioids like oxycodone, methadone, or dipipanone ? Which brand or type works best for you ?
Avatar f tn I know many patch users do have trouble with this issue, but not to the extent that you do. Unfortunately, the way that you're now using the patches pretty much negates one of the benefits of the patches - 24/7 pain control. If you're only putting one on at night, you're not getting that constant, small dose of medication for the extended period of time the patches are designed to be worn.
Avatar f tn They said it is extremely difficult to detect fentanyl in saliva and that these tests are not normally used for fentanyl patch users. They said urine tests are much more reliable and that I should have been given a urine test in their opinion. I also learned that I should have been told to wait at least ten minutes after eating or drinking, before taking the saliva test, because this can cause the results to be wrong.
Avatar f tn I wondered if prescribed medications for chronic pain like methadone, fentanyl etc show up on the test and what happens if it does?
Avatar f tn his history: he was an alcoholic for 8 yrs., was prescribed vic's for pain, quit drinking, started going through a script of 230 vic's in less than 2 weeks, was hospitalized w/ severe hypertension, the dr. thought his BP problems were due to being in pain, put him on a fentanyl patch and oxy IR's, that went to regular oxy's, withdrew cold turkey from those back in nov., the dr. put him right back on lortabs and until he went to treatment he was taking more than 20 of those a day.
Avatar m tn It varies based on medication Anyway, after telling them it was no help but worse, they had me start on 25mcg fentanyl patch which it too did nothing. No change in pain diminishment. Why have they not tried percocet 10/325? I had them once in between doctors, my primary and the one who did my shoulder replacement. It worked unbelievably. Why is it morphine does nothing, fentanyl patch ( which I hate the process plus the repercussions should Any advice?
1196338 tn?1265163728 Hello, I am new to this community, I suppose I should tell you a littlebit about myself first.. Well, I am a CP patient who was in a MVA accident a couple of years ago, and have been taking opiates for my pain. I am a little shy to ask this because I don't want to be judged as being an addict or something, but I always thought that you could tell that a narcotic was working based on that warm fuzzy feeling you get..
Avatar f tn Plus, the longest it seems to work is 1-2hours. After a week he added fentanyl 25mcg/hr, which helped a bit more but the longest it seems to work is 11/2 day at the most and come 38 hours I start feeling sick. A week later and while on Percocet 10mg 4x a day and fentanyl 25mcg/hr I went into withdrawl so sever that I had to go to the ER and almost needed to be admitted do to my heart racing at 180bpm.
1198242 tn?1265182918 but they had no aftercare in place nor any plan to combat mental cravings in place whatsoever//add a negative attitude and no exercise///u have a relapse waiting to happen I have also seen heavy duty heroin users and methadone users at over 100 mgs taper down on here and go on to feel great in 2 months or so...
Avatar n tn I was prescribed the Fentanyl patch for pain related to Crohns disease, back and neck pain. The Crohns now appears to be in remission. I got a nerve block on my lower back and a facet block on my neck. So all appears to be good so it's time to come off the patches. I have been on the 50 mg Fentanyl patch every 2 days and 10 mg Vicodin (3 to 5) every day for almost a year. Had they told me what the withdrawals were going to be like i would NEVER have agreed to the patch!!!!
Avatar f tn I have used fentanyl since 1997 after back surgery, which turned into 5 back surgeries and after 12 years the time has came for me to quit using the patch. I am currently on 225 mcg every 36 hours. Due to the economy I can no longer afford 1000.00 a month for insurance. The cost for the patches are 6000.00 a month. What I need to know is there a less painful way to go off the patch. I had a defective patch in the beginning of my usage and that was the horrible thing to go through.
408158 tn?1202149277 I wish we had that ability too! So far, Med Help hasn't given users the ability to edit or delete posts, but there's nothing wrong with posting your personal experience. :-) Yes, our intrusive government is at work again. More unintended consenquences that we legit pain patients get to deal with and the addicts go on their merry way. Don't get me started - makes my blood boil if I think about it too long!
