Avatar f tn Buprenephrine also comes in patch form and it is called the Butrans patch. The Butrans patch is strictly used for pain management. So I recommend going slow and listening closely to your doctor with regards to what the next steps are. We at medhelp are not allowed to provide tapering schedules for obvious reasons. Many here have successfully stopped Fentanyl through a supervised taper so it is best to talk with your physician and have him/her draft up a plan for you.
Avatar m tn I used about an 1/8 of a 100 mcg fentanyl patch for the past month to manage my additction without "getting high" while waiting for an appointment with a suboxone doc. Long story short decided to screw to suboxone go cold turkey and begin vivtrol injections. However, I have done some research and have noted that these patches have a long half life i am 72 hours clean right now and feeling well enough to eat and type at a computer...
Avatar m tn my life has changed. I was told by the doctor I had been seeing for years, that I would be on the fentanyl for the rest of my life. I was so depressed. I was always in pain...my quality of life was just awful. I have been very hesitant to post about this, because suboxone is usually used for addiction...and isn't widely used in pain management.....but it is the best pain reliever I have had over the past 5 years of pain and surgeries.... So.,..
1417802 tn?1282173063 That is a HUGE jump up to fentanyl....and could be VERY DANGEROUS! I would recommend NOT putting that patch on! It sounds very strange...why wouldn't the dr increase the # or norcos you could take?
6815927 tn?1395511425 Jenelle, thank you for your thoughts--I was hoping to hear from someone that had been on methadone. I had heard that methadone was the hardest opiate to detox from and I don't know why my psychiatrist thought it would be easier. I think it is one of those incidences where the medical community thinks they know what is best but had never experienced a practical application of their beliefs.
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
Avatar m tn ve been in pain for about 20. For most of that time, I ran the gambit of opioids from hydrocodone to morphine to fentanyl. If it was on the market, I was eventually told to take it. I got good relief with opioids, but even at the very beginning, I had a tolerance problem. My mother is the same way. She takes a med once and then she's taking the highest possible dose -- not because she wants to, but because the lower doses do not work. I am the same way.
Avatar n tn im in detox from fentanyl. my dr. prescribed wellbutrin for 30 days. I was on 50 mg so I was given 25mg and wore the patch for 4 to 5 days before putting on a new one. after my last patch I started on xanax for withdrawls symtoms and put on a catapress patch. this worked real well and I feel like im starting to feel good. there are times my skin hurts and muscles hurt so that's where the xanax helps. I had neck surgery to replace a blown disc and know what pain is like.
Avatar n tn m really sorry to hear that. Sounds very scary. I was on the fentanyl patch for 2 years. I personally don't think it's effective unless used on terminal patients.
Avatar n tn OMG no!!! Using fentanyl patches to get OFF of methadone? You'd be headed for serious trouble with that plan. Check with your Dr. to get a good plan in place to get off the meth. You'd only be trading addictions with this plan. Good luck to you! And talk to your Dr.!!
Avatar f tn I am on day 12, and still shaking. Were you also on dilaudid? for how long? I have used it for over 2 years....
Avatar m tn I was given fentanyl 12 mcg patches for back pain which I used for just over 4 weeks. I stopped without support because of the side effects. . However, I am experiencing withdrawl side effects. I feel totally detatched from reality. My GP prescribed an antipsychotic initially and then moved on to diazepam. There're has been no improvement. How long will this last can anybody help?
Avatar m tn My only saving grace was some 200 mg Nucynta tablets that I had used for break through pain ( Friday through Tuesday) I used these tablets until the doctor could see me last Tuesday @ 2:45PM. I have been given 60 MG morphine sulfate and 8 MG hydromorphone. I am starting to hurt through my chest and legs and hands. I am starting to have some sweats. My question is: are these pains part of cold turkey from the Subsys or new symptoms of the new meds I have been given?
Avatar m tn It depends on the test that is being used and that the assay cutoff is for that particular test. The test for Fentanyl is specific to look for that drug and a normalized value can be detected usually 3-4 days after. You were given such a small dose IV, it may have been a much shorter time span.
Avatar f tn What is the greatest help for the insomnia when getting off of Fentanyl? My nights are like HELL. I sleep for about 1 hour, wake up, then have a terrible time getting back to sleep. I did not want to do it but just started taking Suboxone because I cannot imagine going back to work tomorrow without anything for withdrawal and severe back pain. Any help will be SO appreciated!
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar n tn I have been off fentanyl and orals opiates for a month. I am having a hard time with anxiety, depression. how long will this last?
Avatar m tn I had been using fentanyl patches for about a month. I would wear them on my side/hip, switching sides every 2 days when a new patch would be applied. I noticed while on the patch that my skin would kind of swell up and turn red and get very dry, usually around the edges of the patch (sandoz gel type). Well I havent worn any patches or taken any fentanyl in about 3 weeks. But I still have a red rash that is very dried out feeling compared to normal skin.
Avatar f tn I have a pain history for years and was prescribed the Fentanyl patch by my family doctor as a last resort. He was trying anything he could to get me out of pain and added Vicodin as a break through medication. Each person is different when it comes to pain medication. The Fentanyl has a slow effect working on the system. It is hard to know it is working when you are in pain. Eventually it kicked in and all I did was sleep.
Avatar f tn I'm currently on 75mcg of fentanyl...I change my patch every 3 days along with Percocet for breakthrough pain. I'd like to get off the Percocet as well as fentanyl. I'll be going down to 50mcg of fentanyl next month. My question is, will I have withdrawls if I stop taking the Percocet and just stay on the fentanyl as we continue to lower that? Thanks so much for your help.
910419 tn?1289483727 ve heard good things from one of my friends about the Fentanyl (sp?) patch as it lasts for days, which would be awesome for my marathon migraines which can last weeks. (that's on top of my 6/10 or higher pain level for the past 8 years). My mom suggested talking to my psych about the patch first, as she and my neuro work with each other on me and some other patients. But I don't know how to broach the subject. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Just curious? A friend of mine told me she's on fentanyl patches. We got into a slight conversation, becuz I told her I was detoxing off percocets.(proudly I might add), she said it was an opioid. So my question is, does opioids do the same thing as far as our receptors, and endorphins in our brains from percocets. With the patch she said she has never felt the things I described to her. I was just curious, does fentanyl patches work the same way as percocets?
Avatar n tn I asked if I could bring my unused fentanyl patches in to the office for destruction and then receive a prescription for an equal number of patches, which I would then fill with my preferred (Mylan) brand that has adhered more consistently to my skin. I also mentioned that I was still experiencing breakthrough pain, as I wrote above, and that I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with my physician at my next scheduled appointment about pain management.
