4308773 tn?1352574189 If it is difficult for you to swallow pills, then you can opt for topical patches of fentanyl and other opiate pain medications. Please discuss this option with your doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn Ah -- now this makes sense. Theoretically, the Duragesic patch should be covering your bodies need for opioids. Perhaps there is a problem with absorption from the patch? Your doctor may have access to a urine test that can show if you're putting out fentanyl metabolites. This will check whether or not you're absorbing the medicine. I used to break out from the patch, and after the two or three days, would apply triamcinalone cream or some other topical steroid to the site.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar f tn For those of you who have been on the fentanyl patch...have you had skin reactions that have made you discontinue? I have been on it for I think about 2 months now (can't remember for sure) and am starting to have reaction. I have tried other brands and the one I am on has the least reaction but that is getting worse now also. As soon as I put it on my skin is red and burning. It is even starting to swell around patch.
Avatar f tn Part of the problem is the volume of overdose deaths from heroin and fentanyl in the last few years, which are being attributed to opiates, which is partly true in regard to fentanyl. Part was the huge increase in pill mills, and a huge part of the problem was primary care physicians , dentists, and others prescribing huge amounts of opiates to patients, or refilling prescriptions without actually seeing the patient in person.
Avatar m tn The norco now appears to be used only for breakthrough pain- and either the morphine or fentanyl is your main pain medication. The nice thing about the fentanyl patches is once you adjust to them- you’ll come to enjoy not being tied to a pill bottle all the time and the overall pain control is far more stable and less.
Avatar n tn Now his doctor has him on topical accutane and another topical application. He is having severe flare ups and when he applies the accutane it burns. He's fed up with this. Any thoughts? i will call his doctor, of course, but am wondering if you have any ideas.
Avatar m tn I applied once or twice a day. It is a topical steroid. It helped. After two weeks i returned to Dr and since it was still slightly there i was given a prescription for Ketoconazole (oral). I only took 4 pills (1 a day) total and fungal infection was gone. Two days latter i tested negative for HIV using a rapid finger stick antibody test. This was three months post exposure(fingering with nick and unprotected receipt of oral). My new girlfriend also tested negative.
1840891 tn?1431547793 I would love to hear from anyone who can offer some info such as how most hepatologists feel about the use of this gel (or any other topical NSAID) in cirrhotics. I just have this lingering doubt that my hepatologist tends to be a little bit too relaxed about some things – it does seem to take quite a lot to actually alarm him. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
1452289 tn?1285614948 i broke my back 2 yrs ago and as a result of the surgery i now have foot drop which means i have to lift my right foot higher so i dont trip over it, now i get chronic pain in my left hip and my whole back.
Avatar m tn If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
Avatar n tn interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar f tn So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working. I have heard that fentanyl tends to work a lot longer than longer acting opioids in pill form before effectiveness begins to wane. The options that your doctor will most likely present to you are, an increase in fentanyl (which will require wearing a couple of patches versus just one), an increase or change in breakthrough pain medication and/or an addition of a long acting medication in pill form.
Avatar n tn The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with switching methadone 95mg once daily, to fentanyl patch 100mcg Hour patch? or know the methadone mg fentanyl dose equivalents?
Avatar m tn Hey buddy! Congrats on your decision to taper down. I know fentanyl can be a handful. There's several members who has tapered quite successfully At 50mcg, my doctor wanted me to switch over to Oxycotin but insurance didn't allow it, which led to going cold turkey. I'll be passing your post to current and past fentanyl users! There's tons of support here!
610983 tn?1351309926 s 75mcg and 100mcg for Fentanyl patch available as you are on 50mcg Fentanyl Patch right now and as for Percocet, 10/325 and 10/650. Just try those first with increasements of dosages first and see how that goes. I believe that should help to relieve your pain somewhat, hopefully. Talk to your doctor about this. Good luck. Yes, I have heard about side effects of Methadone and I don't even want to be on it.
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
