Gave tapering instructions on discharge. I have 50mcg fentanyl patch. Have appt with pain doc nearby but not till next Wednesday. I am tired all the time, no interest to do anything, restless sleep at night. I am 3 days off. What more can I expect?

I use the Mylan Fentanyl patches and wonder if they can be cut to help with tapering. I see a Pain Doc Specialist for my back and chronic pain...last disc replacement was in October 2013. All my meds are from him and used as prescribed, I'm just interested in getting through this weaning process quicker you know? I keep getting differing opinions online. Thank you for your help.

It will go back to your regular baseline. Fentanyl is very hard to come off even when tapering. Look at the Thomas Recipe for supplements to help any residual withdrawal symptoms.

I have colonies of ants living under my skin trying to get out, I'm restless and exhausted at the same time. My muscles want to explode out of my skin. I'm never accepting Fentanyl again for pain control!

Fentanyl is a very interesting drug in that it does not cross the blood / brain barrier as other pain meds do - treat fentanyl jsut as you would a narcotic - Thomas Recipe is good - Amino Acid Protocl is extremely valid - some will help avoid adding an antidepressant to your meds while others act as stiulants or sedatives.....look at right hand side of page for box that says Health Discussions or whatever to find the Thomas Recipe and Amino Protocols ................and best of luck to you ....

Hi, first of all thanks to whoever takes the time to read this. I've been addicted to fentanyl for about a year now and so desperately want to be off of it. I've been using about a 75mg patch everyday. I now have 4 100mg patches left and than I wont have anymore. Does anyone know how I can use these 4 to tapper down so I wont have to go through withdrawl? And is it enough to avoid withdrawl, at least the worst part of it?

I know oxy detox is usually 3-5 days for the worse symptoms to be over. But ive heard fentanyl takes much longer. Does anybody have experience? How much longer does is take for a fentanyl cold turkey? Should I switch to all oxy for a few weeks first? And finally, if I take 5 days off, so with weekend on both sides that wud be 9 days? Wud that be long enuf?

Due to many neck and back chronic pain issues, my doctor prescribed me these 50 mcg Fentanyl patches to be changed every 72 hours. I was heavily addicted to Percocet and Opanas for several years so I thought this would really help me out. I have been on them about 3 months now and my health insurance has just been canceled. I have 3 of the patches left and need to know what to do to wean off and then stop them completely.

I don't know about the fentanyl,but I know I've seen people post recently about it,maybe their just not on right now.Hang in there.

Have been on Fentanyl patches 125/hr every 48 hours and 4-5 Percocet daily plus maybe 8 10mg Vicodin a day. How long before starting the Suboxone should I stop all of these meds. I have Clonidine for withdrawals how can it help. I am scared to death. Have never been in withdrawal from Opiates. I was told 36 hours prior but am so afraid of precipitated withdrawals. Has anyone been here that can give me some advice?

I was on Fentanyl patches for about 15 months. Finally discovered the source of my pain, and it has been treated successfully. I reduced the dose over a couple of weeks and finally got off the Fentanyl about 8 days ago. I want to know if the lethargy, insomnia, muscle stiffness, restlessness and sneezing that I'm experiencing can be attributed to withdrawal after this period of time, and how long it's likely to last for. I have been on Fentanyl for four years, starting with the 12mgc and working my up to the 75mgc every 48 hrs. plus taking about 12 vicodin a day for a neck condition and knee pain and now I'm tapering off the fentanyl having already quite the vicodin cold turkey. I have tapered down to the 25mgc and I'm now starting to get stomach cramps and I'm having trouble sleeping.

I have been on fentanyl since my first failed fusion 8 years ago. My primary care dr said I would realistically never get off of it. I want to now that my back has fused. I have a lot of pain at present after the hardware removal. My pain has not been controlled because of the fentanyl. I was warned but there was nothing I could do to prepare for it. I have been dealing with Firbromyalgia for 10 years now and for the past year and half I have been on the Fentanyl patch. I am currently on 50 m every 3 days. I want to get off of these badly! I'm sick of the side effects like not sleeping and weight gain.... I feel like I need to just clean my body out of all of it and see where I'm at with the pain. I don't even know!

At the top of my pain meds I was on 2 -100 patch Fentanyl every three days plus 10 dilaudid 8 mg a day. That was overkill and I knew it. I started taking less and less. We moved across the country and got hooked up with another good doctor. Basically I was on 1 - 100 patch of fentanyl every three days and up to 200 dilaudid 8mg a month depending if I needed them for breakthrough pain. This worked great for about 2 years.

I detoxed of 75 mcg every 48 hours of Fentanyl. All I can say is go VERY slowly. What kind of patch do you have? Fentanyl withdrawal is a bit different than other opiates. Not as bad as methadone but pretty tough in it's own right. But it can be done. At times I tried to go too quickly and that was a huge mistake. follow the Thomas Recipe and above all, keep yourself as hydrated as possible. Best of luck. You can message me if you like.

Has anyone gone thru withdrawal of the fentanyl lollipop 400mcg? I want to gradually wean, but don't know how fast I should push it, and money is a real concern so I can't delay. I've been taking 5 to 6 ea of 400mcg each day for almost 4 yrs. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I've asked my dr to get off but she wants me to switch to Oxycotin.....I feel like I'd be jumping from the pan into the fire.

I am on my 13th day from detoxing from 150mcg of fentanyl. i need to know why since the detox, my eyes are burning and watery, very sensitive to any light. ive been trying to make myself deal with it and get used to it....not working. also now i am finally hungry and very thirsty . well i was happy i had a good meal and then felt pain in my stomach like i ate an elephant.

There was no concerns for renewing prescriptions...UNTIL the big change with the recipe for Oxyz. The new tamper proof long acting oxycodone supply to the blood. They made for me getting any form of oxycodone impossible, and I had to suffice with a 50mcg Fentanyl patch every 72 hrs. It was sufficient. Every time I went in my Dr.'s office for anything, say, every month or so, I'd have to urinate in a cup in her office, bring my meds in to count, the old patches on a piece of paper.

I was on Fentanyl for pain management and I wanted off and my doctors said I'd be in t'oo much pain. So I did it myself. I went Ct off that and other meds and was hospitzalized for dehydration. Back on and tapered off the meds onet a time. Fentanyl can be really hard to come off. I would suggesy you get off that first. Sometimes doctors will increase the breakthrough meds while decreasing the Fentanyl so you won't have much withdrawal.
