Avatar f tn thanks for the welcome guys. i called my nephrologist, he knows my fears of being labelled a drug seeker, he assured me he understood and called me in more meds. i avoid the ER at all costs, even though that is where I should have gone. the withdrawals weren't as bad as with the fentanyl, go figure, but nursing my baby was hell, the restless feeling made it hard to sit and the pain hit my supply, so he was nursing longer and more frequently.
586247 tn?1255907790 I got an infection my painpump site got large as a watermelon , they did major surgery I was in the hospital for over a week came home with in house nursing. Several months later they put the pain pump on my left side this time and filled the pump with didaudid, this medication did not work so they tried fentanyl, got 50% releaf. After 3 months fentanyl is not working. Lower back and leg pain. My feet hurt so bad, the sting is like I have 100's and 100's of bees stinginng me.
Avatar f tn A 68 year-old white male presenting with pectus excavatum and blood pressure that averages 155/85 . What implications may be encountered regarding dysfunctional heart functions ?
1364139 tn?1280791344 I use the fentanyl patch for my neck and back pain and my pain management doctor feels that it is okay for me to continue to wear the patch during surgery (he is an anesthesiologist). I talked to the pharmacist today and he said that I absolutely should take off the patch, and even should take it off a few hours before since the medicine is still in the body and releasing so I don't technically need the patch attached to my skin for the last few hours before the surgery.
1322157 tn?1279656681 So, I just poured myself a glass of grapefruit juice and took my medicine - then for some reason I remembered that grapefruit juice interacts with some medications. I just did a quick search online and here is a list (probably not complete) of some medications that interact badly with grapefruit juice. Including some opiates.... Please be careful! a small part of the piece I read: "Amy Karch, R.N., M.S.
Avatar n tn I began taking it even when I did not need it for pain and became addicted and tolerant to the medication... About 5 months ago, I got on Fentanyl Patches at 25mcg then increased it to 50, and now am on 75... I need to get off this and tried last month and I couldn't, it was too hard... My question is, what is the right way to get off of the Fentanyl without wanting to die. I am a registered nurse and am getting my nurse practitioner degree and will be done with my masters degree shortly...
1751415 tn?1315069443 I neglected to mention that it was not the hospice nurse but the nurse from the nursing home. We will mention this. I know that they use a Fentanyl (hope I'm spelling it correctly) patch and morphine by mouth. They were giving him the patch with Vicodin but I guess because his pain was increasing they switched to Morphine. We are due to have a conference this week. Again, thank you!
3039221 tn?1340461200 I applied my first Fentanyl 100mcg gell patch 4+ hours ago. Would it be safe to take 30 mgs Oxy IR while waiting the 8 to 24 hours I read here that it can take for the Fent to begin to help?
82861 tn?1333453911 My pain doc is great and I use the 50 mcg fentanyl patch, 25 mg phenergan 2 or 3 times a day and norco if needed for breakthrough pain. I also see a pain psychologist who has helped every bit as much if not more than my pain doc. My question is: have you ever seen any truly successful treatment of patients with adhesions, and does your recommended treatment differ from what I'm using?
1264863 tn?1391118193 I found when I was on Fentanyl that I gained a lot of weight. For me, Fentanyl seemed to change my tastes. I had not ever been a sugar user (in many, many years.) In the past few years, I had been working out hard at a gym and also being very careful about what I ate. I got out of the habit of getting to the gym when I started having a lot of surgeries, but I still was careful with what I ate.
Avatar m tn I'm a nurse and decided to wean off my Narco use. Im just sick of having to go to the pain clinic. I truly have chronic pain with MRI's to back it up. Yet, even with pain med nursing became so hard after my car accident. At the time I had a small amount of Narco perscribed but it was not enough since I could not walk for 6 months and shortly after I could I went back to work thus developing a chronic limp.
Avatar n tn The original poster was asking more so with regard to the implications of adding naproxen to the hydrocodone. I am more concerned if the poster has underlying GI issues as that could pose a concern. So I hope the OP talked with their pharmacist to get their OK. I am also on the fentanyl patch so the combo is perfectly safe for me and is ok with my doctor. I am most certainly opioid tolerant.
Avatar n tn If you removed your uterus you wouldnt be able to be pregnant ever... I am not sure of the implications but i definitely know the previous to be true. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
10228675 tn?1423881456 I'm curious the best place to buy Nursing tanks from? Before pregnancy i was a 38F.. now that bra is way to small.. so im looking for a nursing tank that my boobs will actually fit in.
Avatar n tn What are the implications of an enlarged left atrium found on echocardiography This discussion is related to Enlargement of left atrium.
Avatar m tn If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
Avatar n tn interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar f tn So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working. I have heard that fentanyl tends to work a lot longer than longer acting opioids in pill form before effectiveness begins to wane. The options that your doctor will most likely present to you are, an increase in fentanyl (which will require wearing a couple of patches versus just one), an increase or change in breakthrough pain medication and/or an addition of a long acting medication in pill form.
Avatar n tn The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
1219328 tn?1266881841 I have been off fentanyl for 2 weeks and working on weaning off my percs. The last 2 nights I have had the worst restless legs....it keeps me awake and I cant stand it. Has anyone else had this problem?? Any advice of what to do?? thx!
