Common Questions and Answers about Fentanyl lollipops drug

Avatar m tn This is being written by some one who was on the Fentanyl patch and the fentanyl lollipops/ sublingual tabs for advanced cancer. If you want to life in a Fent Fog. There are also new restrictions on driving whilst on this drug in the UK. I don't know about other countries. If your not sure it's working then its not working. You either have pain or you don't. Find out all you can about this drug and then decide if you want it in your life .
Avatar f tn ve never had the Fentanyl lollipops but I was on (what I think) was a high dose on the patch. I came off that gradually (on my own) and it wasn't too bad. I do know Fentanyl can be hard to come off CT but I would think in your situation in wouldn't be hard to taper you down. Why are they all of a sudden in such a hurry to switch to something else? Please do your research on methadone.
Avatar m tn I'd like to thank this forum for all its posters. It helped me greatly with my progress to recovery. Although this is my first post, I've been lurking around for a while. I used the supplement regiments posted, along with advice on taking baths to help me kick. I was up to about 3 or 4 Fentanyl lollipops a day for about 2 months. I've been struggling with tapering down off them. I didn't figure out a good system until the end.
Avatar n tn Even though being dependent on a narcotic is different than being addicted, the physical symptoms are the same. Fentanyl is a very potent drug and can be a little harder to come off than other narcitics.
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar f tn My pcp doctor drug tested me and claims NO drugs were in my system ! She claims i broke the drug contract i signed and wont see me anymore. How is this possible ? I demanded a retest and was told no, the dr even suggested my caregiver was taking them or we were selling the stuff ! Im going thru withdraw now, alone with no weening just an abrupt stop cuz she wont refill the script and dont know where 2 turn.
Avatar n tn How long does it take for a 100mcg Fentanyl patch to get out of your system for a drug test?
Avatar f tn Perfect I'll go today, I've been looking at Walmart and other drug stores but didn't think to look there.
Avatar m tn Hi & Welcome, I have never heard of a treatment center specifically for Fentanyl. All of the centers I am familiar with or have heard of deal with drug & alcohol abuse in general. A drug is a drug is a drug is pretty much the issue. In other words, the centers deal with the disease of addiction no matter what the DOC. Do you have insurance and are you able to take the time to go into treatment?
Avatar f tn Educate yourself on what to expect because this Fentanyl is a VERY powerful drug to get off of. It has many side effects you may not realize. This medication shut down my digestive tract and created problems with my pancreas and the weight loss was scary and that is what made me quit. This drug works on the brain centers perception of pain and really screws with the mind. You may not be aware of how powerful these drugs are but they do take control.
Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed Fentanyl patches for me to help relieve neck and spine pain, the patches are 50Mc.
Avatar m tn We agreed that with Fentanyl being widely abused, it would be appropriate to get a urine drug screen. Approximately 9 hours after the medication was allegedly administered, I tested negative for opiates. According to the FDA, the half-life of fentanyl is approximately 218 minutes. How many half-lifes would it take before the substance would no longer be detectable in urine? Who would I report this possible issue to? Thanks.
Avatar f tn More like a contract not to accept opiates from anyone else. Fentanyl is a powerful drug and if your using the patch form it takes longer to get in and out of your system should you have complications with it.
Avatar f tn I am glad jacquii is here to help u guys...
Avatar f tn Well first of all I want to congratulate you on your attempt to get off the fentanyl. This drug is a very powerful drug and does more damage than you can imagine. FOR ME,.... I developed pancreatic problems and it doped up my mind so much, I had lost weight and had no idea. I was 150lbs before and my family doctor who I have known for 30 years want to do anything he can to help me with my pain, so he prescribed fentanyl 50mcg.
Avatar n tn Using another drug to get off another drug is really a bad idea. All you are going to do is prolong the wd process. If you have fentanyl in your possession i would highly recommend that you get rid of them. Way to tempting.......
Avatar m tn Thanks for clarifying your concern. Sometimes we miss the true question and I apologize. The Fentanyl Patch is a very effective pain management medication - however it doesn't work the same in all ppl. I've heard your very complaint from others. I was only on it for a few days before I developed blisters from the tape. We tried everything for a week to treat the blistering - I'd hope it would be an answer - but my body said different.
Avatar n tn I had surgery and was given fentanyl and nearly 2 mos later still shows up on drug test. I only have 1 kidney, but I'm still totally shocked and it has caused me bad problems as the dr doesn't believe me when I tell him I did not take this from the street! I don't even know how to get this from the street per se! Please has anyone else had this issue with fentanyl?
Avatar f tn Insurance will no longer cover the 100 mcg Fentanyl patch I change every 2 days. Also take Norco with this medication. Fentanyl works for me but I can no longer afford. Does not cover Oxycontin either which is what i took previous to Fentanyl an insurance stopped covering. Please help an thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I haven't been on this site since my insurance company sent me to THEIR pain management doctor, even though after 2 back surgeries, and countless procedures, epidurals, which did nothing, and countless meds, I had finally been doing relatively well with my doctor of 16 years. (I had my back surgeries in 1995, and 1996.) The new "Doctor" put me on massive doses of Fentanyl, which I had tried before without success, but that didn't matter...it's ALL about the money.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl can be very difficult to come off. The withdrawals seem to be harsher and last longer than other opioids. But you are lucky to only be at 12 mg over 4 weeks. Did your doctor have you on something else before he put you on the Fentanyl? I ask that because Fentanyl isn't normally used as a first-line drug for pain. If you were on something else, that would factor into your withdrawal. You can read lots of withdrawal hints over on the Substance Abuse forum.
688620 tn?1227378284 If the patch is not effective, you can also try the Fentanyl lollipops, generic name is Actiq. The medication is absorbed very quickly through your mucosal membranes in your mouth. It works great for breakthru pain. But it is VERY powerful and you have to give yourself time to get used to side effects. Also, this may seem like a no-brainer, but I keep mine locked up in a safe as it is would be very dangerous if a child, or anyone not used to opiates, were to get ahold of them.
Avatar f tn Went to the pain clinic and he put me on the Fentanyl patch 12mcg. I have so many drug allergies that the drs are limited as what they can give me. I am ok with one patch but when I put on the second patch I got chest pains, nervous, nauseated. Took second patch off felt better. Call dr next day told them what happened. He said to take up to 3 10/325 hydrocodone a day. Took one and it overdosed me. took that patch off too.
