I had surgery and was given fentanyl and nearly 2 mos later still shows up on drug test. I only have 1 kidney, but I'm still totally shocked and it has caused me bad problems as the dr doesn't believe me when I tell him I did not take this from the street! I don't even know how to get this from the street per se! Please has anyone else had this issue with fentanyl?

I already know how it is to detox from hell b/c I did it in July getting off 150mcg of the evil fentanyl patches. I have am a severe chronic pain patient and live in pain. It took me a month to get rid of the w/ds from the fentanyl and i would never wish them on my worst enemy! Anyway, after suffering everyday with no pain meds for 3 months , just by using 800 motrin and zanaflex, hot baths, heathing pads. I decided to get the radio frequency procedure again and it did not work.

Sooo my gp's gonna put me on fentanyl. But before he does I have to go in to the office to sign a liability waiver. Now I'm not stupid I know fentanyls dangerous.. But is it really that dangerous. I've never heard of a doctor do this before. Is this normal????

m a chronic pain management patient, with fibromyalgia and flank pain due to medullary sponge kidney. I was originally sent to a pain mgmt doc almost 5 yrs because of the chronic kidney pain (was diagnosed with fibro a year later). For almost 5 yrs I have been on the fentanyl patch to manage pain. I was on a 50 patch every 48 hrs (yes, 48 hrs not 72) for most of that time but almost a yr ago I switched to the 25 mcg/hr patch (still every 48 hrs).

I did not have an addiction, but I can tell you this much. My gall bladder "died" for lack of better words, while I was on Fentanyl. I had it removed. I have a strong feeling that had I stopped the Fentanyl BEFORE it was removed, it would have come back to life so to speak. I was also told I was hypothyroid, and I did develop a nodule on the gland, but still...Ever since stopping the Fentanyl, my thyroid functioning has returned back to normal.

wants to switch me from 120 #4 dilaudid a month that I just started taking 3 wks ago to fentanyl and 40 #4 dilaudid. What do you all think?. Also I should mention that whatever I do could effect weather I get a liver or not If they think I really need what I am taking since I had A drinking problem but not in over a year. I go to AA several times a week.

I have taken fentanyl several times for kidney stones and always in the hospital. What I know about it is, it is 100 x's more powerful than morphine. how much were you taking and for how long? What I know from my own experience with pain meds, and this is long time heavy usage, is that everyone's symptoms subside at different times, its very hard to judge when you will feel better. Me personally, with hospital detox and 2 weeks of treatment, I still had problems after the 2 weeks.

But, she did notice that I accepted a prescription of Darveset that I received. Yes, I was wrong for accepting it. I was passing a kidney stone and the pain was too much to handle. I had surgery, then withdrew from fentanyl, my post are all over here. sometime during the past month my dr ordered some blood work and today called me to say my liver and kidneys are not functioning and my sugars are high. once before, years ago this happen with my liver due to to much meds, can this be the case now? does anyone else had this happen to them? should I be worried? clean now for 35 days!

Most days it still feels like my kidney is still there and hurts exactly like it did when I had kidney infections or kidney stones. When I had my surgery they cut me from back ribcage to the front below my bladder so there is a lot of nerves that were severed during the surgery. Most of the time if feels like my kidney is huge and taking up too much space inside and under my ribcage, so the pain is not just right in the nerve endings.

I have recently began using Fentanyl 50mcg/hr Transdermal Patches. Previously I had been taking 80mg of Oxycontin bid as well as 10mg of Percocet tid to control breakthrough pain. I've been fighting kidney stones, UTI, and a bad ear infection and I was supposed to come in on Thursday and pick up my month supply of fentanyl and oxycodone. I called the pain doctor on Saturday and he raised the amount of oxycodone and then told me to call my dr. I told him I had an appointment on Monday. I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?

If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
