186737 tn?1269884660 However, one of my elbows, which has only ever had 2 injections, has started wasting kind of a lot. I had one injection in the fall and another in early march. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that it had turned pink and then as time went on, I noticed that the subcutaneous tissue was disappearing and I could see my epicondyle in detail. So, I realized that the soft tissue in my elbow was wasting away.
Avatar m tn I hope i am posting this in the right place, if not could someone help me with where to post it? Please? I have been injecting fentanyl for less than two weeks. My question is are the withdrawals going to take as as lon as someone who has bee on the fentanyl patch? I hope not because the half life of the patch is days and the injectible is 186 min i think. I am hoping the withdrawal from the injection will be much shorter than from the patch.
Avatar m tn Two years ago I went to an ER due to severe pain in my right shoulder which my shoulder had to be replaced ( reverse arthroplasty), at the time in the ER they gave me a Fentanyl injection. Nothing happened. The pain never let up. I was told that it happens occasionally.
Avatar f tn I was on the Fentanyl patch (1 no 50mg patch and 1 no 75mg patch) for about 6-7 months but wasn't getting on with them. The first doctor I saw told me to just take my patches off and replace it with a 50mg Buphrenorphine one. About 4 hours later I was starting to feel strange and then that evening went into cold turkey. Thought I was dying I felt that bad. Had to call the doctor out, she gave me an injection (can't remember the name of it, was a bit out of it at the time).
Avatar f tn That is a possibility BUT Fentanyl only comes as a patch, injection or a sucker which is known as Actiq or something close to that. It's not offered as pills, as far as I'm aware.
Avatar f tn Usually the doctor will tell you not to take any opiates 8 or so hours before your injection if they are also injecting you with something like fentanyl along with the steroid. Tramadol is technically an opioid, although synthetic, it is still considered a narcotic. Tramadol and Tylenol are not the same as Tramadol is an opioid as well as acts as an SNRI. You should google Tramadol and read about it before you take it or call your doctor.
3039221 tn?1340461200 and some oral (narcotic) muscle relaxer one day and A steroid - oral Rx and injection and Delaudid injection and oral diazepam 2 days later when there had been no improvement. The treatment helped just slightly - I still suffer terrible pain, cannot stand up straight, but the crying has ceased. I saw my Neuro yesterday, but this time I was prepared...The ER doc suggested Fentanyl patch. I looked it up, printed 25 pages of indications, opioid conversion charts, patient instructions, etc.
Avatar f tn My PM doctor was prescribing 50 mcg fentanyl patches to be applied every three days. They were going to give me a urine screen, but I have interstitial cystitis and a neurogenic bladder. I was unable to provide enough urine, so the nurse gave me water to drink. I was on my way back to the bathroom, when someone other than the nurse stopped me to say I was having a saliva test. I went back to the room and continued to drink water, because I have dry mouth from taking Lyrica and Lamotrigine.

1931709 tn?1335833095 this is especially important as some moms are concerned about the meds affecting the baby in anyway, and the mom too!... my sister had fentanyl prior to her epideral and she was right looped from it and wishes she would have just waited for the epideral instead (she had planned on the epideral from the start) but my point is knowing what IV meds you are open to get and the different ways they may affect you... i had fentanyl before my epideral as i was a mess!
Avatar f tn I am sorry. Yes I got my injection (steroid) Thursday and a prescription for Fentanyl 75mg patches too. ( I am very reluctant to fill) so far the shot are actually helping. Apparently Thursday was a "procedure' day and I was not "scheduled" to actually talk to the doctor, so I didn't.
Avatar f tn t nerve pain! So will let you know, if and when I wake up after the Fentanyl (and IF the Fentanyl) kicks in! It didn't help at all when I used it years ago, but i will try again, really, they don't give you any options, its that or....NOTHING! (at least in my case) I'll post later. Thanks for writing, I am so sorry for the cancer pain, I do know about that, and only a morphine pump seemed to help.

Avatar f tn In December 2008, my symptoms acted up again, and I was experiencing yet another terrible flare. Again in the ED, I was given Fentanyl injection twice, like in the last visit. I felt great and the pain vanished for a while. Later, I was given Fentanyl again for a sigmoidoscopy. That was the last time I had been given it. For the pain, the next narcotic that was given to me was morphine, which I rejected, as I know that it is associated with horrible side effects.
516810 tn?1211590206 For the past year I have been taking 75 mcg fentanyl patches every three days.I need and want to stop and get back to living a clean FUN life.I don't get them by prescription so I can not goto a dr to taper off.I have tried on my own and it was total HELL! The thought of those feelings again scares me to death.I read about Suboxone and wonder if someone here can tell me how it worked for them. Also money wise how much did it run?
Avatar f tn I'm a chronic pain patient due to a car accident in 1977. After having a failed multi-level cervical fusion 10 yrs ago, my neck pain still isn't manageable - despite Fentanyl, Vicodin for break-through pain, muscle relaxants, etc. I've never gotten any relief from all the standard PT methods, as well as trigger point injections, epidurals and facet injections. Then 3 weeks ago, I tried Prolotherapy by a very reputable pain management doctor who specializes in alternative treatments.
874521 tn?1424116797 He then put me on oxy and that helped for a while. He now has me on Fentanyl patches and so far thy have been God sent. I hope that I was able to help in some way. Take care.
Avatar n tn For one thing the less narcotic pain medicine your on after surgery, the less they will need to control your post surgery pain. I do agree your being under treated for pain management. If you still have horrid untreated pain after surgery, find a different doctor who will help you. I was getting 4 Percocet(5/325mg) a day. The surgery/fusion did not help my pain, but he wouldn't raise my dose. Instead I was getting injection after injection. It was awful.
Avatar m tn Sounds like you are experiencing cortisone flare due to crystals in the steroid that irritate soft tissue. After your next injection rest the area, apply ice pack and take anti-inflammatory. If you dont have a prescription for one ibuprofen is over the counter. If this doesn't work, you may need to stop getting the injections as some people have a harder time with them, like you. Are they doing too many injections?
Avatar f tn t bother with Pain management because all they will give us an injection of Fentanyl! No thank you. I stick to my Tylenol #3 with Codeine. I use the Teva brand the rest of the pharmaceutical brands make me nauseous. But Oxycodone w/apap 5/325 is good also again only the Mallinckrodt brand. Don't take just any brand do your research.
Avatar m tn Have you asked your doctor about Fentanyl patches? They are pretty strong, but would do a similar job for your pain. I've had similar nerve problems after back surgery and used them successfully. One patch lasts me 3+ days. You need to be careful of constipation w/ them. Awhile back, they had problems w/ leaking, but they've got that corrected now. Why don't you suggest that and check w/ your MD and see if he can get these approved.
Avatar f tn Before I would consent to an injection I would want some imaging done of the area. Things can change, even in a few months. Nerve pain is one of the most difficult pains to treat, almost as extreme as bone pain. Are you taking Gabapentin (Neurontin) or a similar medication? It made a big difference for my Mom when she has ulnar nerve entrapment. She was is severe pain also. They prescribed Fentanyl for her in addition to the Gabapentin. Luckily she did not require surgery or injections.
Avatar f tn Ok so here is my issue..... I am 26 year's old and have severe back pain. After many visits to my Dr. I have finally started seeing a pain management dr. It has been determined that I have a protruding disc in my lower back that has been causing the pain. I have started getting sedated injections every 3 months to help with the pain. I just had one done on 12-12-08 and it is not helping at all. I am currently taking lyrica and Hydrocodone for pain, but now that it not even working.
