My girlfriend tested positive for fentanyl after almost 5 mouths latter on a urine test. She was in a drug court program in jail. And they didn't test her till she had completed and was to be sent to a halfway house. She was a chonice iv user. About 3 grams a day for about 3 years straight. I don't know the mil of the drug per dose. But I know it never should have been sold on the street. The amount she was doing in one shot.
I have never failed a urine test. I take 10mg oxycodone and in April my test came back as having fentanyl in it. The rpn said since I never failed a test she was going to have me do a saliva test. She also said that if fentanyl she’s up again she would not be able to give me my oxy. Ihave a appt with the dr next week. I am scared.
Thanks so much Ellen, hadn't thought about one of the OTC drug tests, wonder if fentanyl would show up in one...only thing is with just one left I wouldn't know when to take it! I'd have to get a test and try it when I get my new Rx & see how long it takes to show up in my urine, in case I have another bad month, I'm sure I will the way things are going with my son & all, anyway THANKS AGAIN for your reply!!!
do we have ANY rights here? DO people ON Methadone Maintenance of Suboxone HAVE any rights with regards to how we are treated and if we have put together all these years of compliance with not just urine screens but groups, counseling attendance (ALL SPOTLESS!) and behavioral issues, etc why can't we get ONE benefit of the doubt?
They said urine tests are much more reliable and that I should have been given a urine test in their opinion. I also learned that I should have been told to wait at least ten minutes after eating or drinking, before taking the saliva test, because this can cause the results to be wrong. The maker of the test, Quantisal, said I should have been retested, but the office manager kept saying the test was correct.
Would ingesting or chewing a piece be enough to have a positive urine test? How quickly does Fentanyl show in the urine? My previous tests have not been a problem because I've had 'accepted level' of Fentanyl....though I don't know what that is.
Previously I was on oxcodone for over 7 yrs and when I started abusing, I was switched to the patch and have not abused since.
I made a mistake with my calendar. I'm supposed to change patch every 3 days, but I forgot and didn't replace my patch until later on the 4th. I had my urine test sent in on that 4th day and I just realized what I did! It would be ok but I want to make sure the fentanyl test comes back positive from the lab. I've been a FAITHFUL pain management patient for almost two years and it would crush me if my doctor didn't trust me.
The urine test WILL show the difference in the two medications. Vicodin is HYDROcodone, which is different than OXYcodone, different drug, different chemical breakdown and different metabolites.
Why did you run out of your prescribed vicodin early?
The prescriptions are supposed to last 30 days, if you are taking them exactly as prescribed, you should not run out early.

I like my hydrocodone but im hateing tramadol er. Before going to pm Drs i was being treated by my GP for 10 yrs of my pain managment. I was on tramadol short acting and hydrocodone. I alternated them through out the day. Wel my PM DR wont keep me on two short trem pain meds.
It now makes perfect sense to me why you are in so much pain on the Fentanyl. Converting 360 mg of Oxycontin to Fentanyl results in 150 mcg/hr...this is conservative. Converting Fentanyl to equal 360 mg of Oxycontin with the opioid calculator results in 300 mcg/hr. This is the largest dose conversion that is shown in the fentanyl prescription leaflet that comes in the box with the medication. So your doctor's thoughts that you need to keep going up on the Fentanyl patch are CORRECT.
i am on the fentanyl 50 patch for ongoing hardware problems after a L4-S5 laminectomy with fusion in nov 2008. i also take Lortabs for occasional breaththrough pain. my doctor occasionally "drug tests" me but i am always too embarrassed to ask exactly what they test for. i dont do any illicit drugs and do not take any drugs not prescribed to me.
my anxiety at this time is that i also have Klonopin prescribed to me by the same MD but only rarely take it.
I had surgery and was given fentanyl and nearly 2 mos later still shows up on drug test. I only have 1 kidney, but I'm still totally shocked and it has caused me bad problems as the dr doesn't believe me when I tell him I did not take this from the street! i observe oil particles in my urine from 6 months and i have been suffering form itching sensation in vaginal area and lower back pain from 18 months.
went to urologist,gynecologist and nephrologist.all the tests like COMPLETE URINE EXAMINATION,URINE CULTURE,URINE FOR CHYLE AND 24HRS URINE EXAMINATION are normal.. ketones and albumines are not present in urine..
used FEMBIO capsules for 3 months and taking UTI OF tablets from 5 months as per doctor suggestion.problem intensity came down..
It does not matter what amount of the fentanyl that your on it will show up in your blood work if your using it. When you had the test done had you taken any oxycodone within 3 days?
I assume you have not gotten the results back yet for the blood work.
Ask the doctor what he meant by the test goes back 0 days because that is not possible with a urine test.
A drug screen is a complex thing and the higher tuned (more sensitive)
it is the more complex it becomes.
The normal ratio should only have 3-4 x more norafentanyl to fentanyl. I also had no oxycodone in my system but did test positive for the metabolite in very small amounts.
This prompted my doctor to consider testing me for genetic drug/enzyme metabolism. I still do not now the results of this, but since I have had the test done the test seems to have went from only taking 5-7 days to over 2 1/2 weeks.
I have passed every test for 3 years on my bi-monthly urine screen. All of a sudden I am showing positive for oxycontin and I have NEVER taken this med.
Now I know that actiq,opana,stadol,and oxycontin are synthentic oipioids. Now I have taken a blood test for oxycontin only to make sure this is negative and a true false positive because I do not take this pain med. Im on oxycodone 60mg a day and fentanyl patches 75mg every 3 days. I swear on the bible i have never missed 1 dose. My pcp doctor drug tested me and claims NO drugs were in my system ! She claims i broke the drug contract i signed and wont see me anymore. How is this possible ? I demanded a retest and was told no, the dr even suggested my caregiver was taking them or we were selling the stuff !
All narcotics can cause urine retention (and constipation) if you take them in high enough doses. Narcotics cause the muscles that control elimination to tense up. However, holding urine for a while longer than usual should not cause fluids to build up in your tissues. There's really no way to say for certain that it was the fentanyl or not. Your symptoms may have been entirely coincidental - or not.
Also, the fentanyl patch isn't meant to be used on an as-needed basis like pills.
