Has anyone out there with Fibromyalgia ever been diagnosed with Orthostatic Hypotension? I have been miserable for months....nine months to be exact. I have seen over five specialists...all of them stumped until I seen an endocronolgist recently. I have had Fibro since 1999. I have had chronic pain that I have dealt with it well until this past year. I have always..."sucked it up" so to speak and gone on every day to do what I needed to do.
I have been diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension, but the doctor's don't know the cause. I started getting lightheaded on a daily basis about 4 months ago. I am taking Pindolol (10mg 2x daily) and Fludrocortisone (.01mg once daily). I have also increased my sodium and drink 2-3 liters of fluids a day. I have never fainted, and have been able to resume exercising daily. The lightheadness though continues to be there if I am standing or sitting for most of the day.
I underwent cardiac exams,pressure exams,tilt table,etc I read Postural Hypotension could be caused by a problem in the nervous system called Dysautonomia.The late actres Brittany Murphy suffered from it.His brother has videos on it on youtube.
If anyone know how to help me,I´d like to know!

I have experienced postural hypotension in the last week twice, when first i stood for long time on empty stomach in the queu in the early morning , slowly i felt my face is flshing and i felt as if my sugar levels are falling and had sweating and little dizziness. So I took sugar chips immediately and after 5 mts i became normal and i stood for another half hour and then drove my car home. I immediately checked m yBP with my Omron and found that reading at 101/ 66.
What can be the reason of hypotension espacially postural hypotension in hbv pateint.can vit D and k2 supplemnt be the cause? My friend is is hbv patient and concerned about it.he sometimes feels dizzy.his vit d was too low before taking vit d supplemnt.now pth and vit d are in ranges from the last 6 months..he is taking tdf for 2 years with dna undetactable now. I understand that it happens sometimes to a lot of people too and it is because you get up too quickly, and it is called postural hypotension if i'm not mistaken. but should i be worried if it happens more often, like 2-3 times a day?

.I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
If the variations in blood pressure recordings are more than 10 mmHg, it is diagnosed as postural hypotension/Orthostatic Hypotension. Check with your doctor to rule out this condition.

Orthostatic hypotension (also called postural hypotension) is an excessive decrease in blood pressure that occurs when a person stands up.
Symptoms of orthostatic hypotension include:
Feeling lightheaded or dizzy after standing up
Blurry vision
Weakness
Fainting (syncope)
Confusion
Nausea
The most common cause of orthostatic hypotension is due to dehydration. eg: fever, vomiting, not drinking enough fluids, severe diarrhea, strenuous exercise with excessive sweating.
Your symptoms could be due to postural hypotension, a condition in which the peripheral arteries dilate, leading to pooling of blood in the peripheries. This in effect causes decreased circulation of blood resulting in dizziness/lightheadedness. This is more pronounced if the person stands up from a lying down position. This is detected by recording the blood pressure recordings in the sitting, standing and lying down positions.
The symptoms of dizziness or hypotension, bradycardia and shortness of breath do not make you more prone for a heat stroke. Though you may have dehydration due to heat stroke which can cause dizziness. You need a cardiac assessment for conditions like heart blocks where the heart rate is decreased causing hypotension as a result. Anemia could also be a cause for dizziness and shortness of breath on walking but there should be accompanying tachycardia in that case.
