Avatar f tn Orthostatic hypotension — also called postural hypotension — is a form of low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down. Orthostatic hypotension can make you feel dizzy or lightheaded, and maybe even faint. Orthostatic hypotension may be mild and last for less than a few minutes. However, long-lasting orthostatic hypotension can signal more-serious problems, so it's important to see a doctor if you frequently feel lightheaded when standing up.
Avatar n tn No problem......I appreciate the reply.
Avatar f tn Has anyone out there with Fibromyalgia ever been diagnosed with Orthostatic Hypotension? I have been miserable for months....nine months to be exact. I have seen over five specialists...all of them stumped until I seen an endocronolgist recently. I have had Fibro since 1999. I have had chronic pain that I have dealt with it well until this past year. I have always..."sucked it up" so to speak and gone on every day to do what I needed to do.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension, but the doctor's don't know the cause. I started getting lightheaded on a daily basis about 4 months ago. I am taking Pindolol (10mg 2x daily) and Fludrocortisone (.01mg once daily). I have also increased my sodium and drink 2-3 liters of fluids a day. I have never fainted, and have been able to resume exercising daily. The lightheadness though continues to be there if I am standing or sitting for most of the day.
Avatar m tn I underwent cardiac exams, pressure exams, tilt table, etc I read Postural Hypotension could be caused by a problem in the nervous system called Dysautonomia. The late actres Brittany Murphy suffered from it.His brother has videos on it on youtube. If anyone know how to help me,I´d like to know! Thanks! 770109 tn?1235035062 My boyfriend and i both have low blood pressure and his was inherited from his father where all his other 2 siblings are inherited too. As for mine, it was passed down from my grandmother to my mum and to me. I've heard that if both parents have hypotension, their baby is most likely to be unhealthy. Does that mean that it's impossible for my boyfriend and i to have a complete and healthy family? His parents strictly object their children's partners to have hypotension.
Avatar f tn t strong enough to do much pumping. Cant really judge hypotension by them because they also have weak hypokinetic big boggy hearts. Are there any other folks living life out there getting dizzy with bps in the 80s, 70s...? What do you do with it?
Avatar f tn sometimes when i get up from a sitting or lying position, i get very dizzy, light headed and blurry vision. I understand that it happens sometimes to a lot of people too and it is because you get up too quickly, and it is called postural hypotension if i'm not mistaken. but should i be worried if it happens more often, like 2-3 times a day?
Avatar f tn You have what is called orthostatic hypotension (also called postural hypotension). This is a form of low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down. You can feel dizzy, llightheaded or even faint. I had orthostatic hypotension myself when I had untreated hypothyroidism. As your symptom has been ongoing for a few years you might want to see a doctor. Excerpt from American Family Physician - Evaluation and Management of Orthostatic Hypotension...
Avatar f tn (Discontinued for this reason) Likewise for Northera, I actually get worsened hypotension, especially supine hypotension, until around the same time, although it seems to Not Change when going from laying to Standing. Why is this, rather than the normal quick responses to These meds? I'm 21 and have various Forms of dysautonomia, heart issues, anemia, and asthma.
Avatar f tn Orthostatic hypotension (/ˌɔrθəˈstætɪkˌhaɪpəˈtɛnʃən/) , also known as postural hypotension,[1] orthostasis, and colloquially as head rush or dizzy spell, is a form of hypotension in which a person's blood pressure suddenly falls when standing up or stretching. In medical terms, it is defined as a fall in systolic blood pressure of at least 20 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure of at least 10 mm Hg when a person assumes a standing position.
Avatar f tn Blackout at bowel movement could be the result of straining due to constipation, postural hypotension, systemic hypertension or hypotension. This is most likely vasovagal syncope resulting from vagus nerve getting stimulated due to stretching of intestines causing the heart rate to slow down and hypotension and increased gastrointestinal activity. It is important to consult a physician at the earliest for further intervention to tackle the reasons for straining at bowel movement.
Avatar n tn You have symptoms of orthostatic hypotension (also called orthostatic intolerance). Orthostatic hypotension is a form of low blood pressure; the blood vessels do not constrict (tighten) as you stand up. This condition is usually a symptom of an underlying condition rather than a disease in itself. The drop in blood pressure reduces the flow of oxygen to the brain.
Avatar f tn Chronic refractory migraine, POTS, severe orthostatic hypotension, central pain syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, non-specific dysautonomia, cyclic vomiting. Now daughter has a jtube for enteral feeding and a port for fluids because she cannot take anything by mouth without vomiting. She has been on every medication everyone else has tried for this. Cardiac doc took her off florinef because of the side effects, but that sent her right to the ER.
Avatar f tn I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
Avatar f tn If the variations in blood pressure recordings are more than 10 mmHg, it is diagnosed as postural hypotension/Orthostatic Hypotension. Check with your doctor to rule out this condition. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
4234155 tn?1352858962 Not sure what this is and if it will go away. I looked at a few sights and thinks its from low blood pressure or hypotension. Can you inform?? Thank you in advance.
Avatar m tn Orthostatic hypotension (also called postural hypotension) is an excessive decrease in blood pressure that occurs when a person stands up. Symptoms of orthostatic hypotension include: Feeling lightheaded or dizzy after standing up Blurry vision Weakness Fainting (syncope) Confusion Nausea The most common cause of orthostatic hypotension is due to dehydration. eg: fever, vomiting, not drinking enough fluids, severe diarrhea, strenuous exercise with excessive sweating.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms could be due to postural hypotension, a condition in which the peripheral arteries dilate, leading to pooling of blood in the peripheries. This in effect causes decreased circulation of blood resulting in dizziness/lightheadedness. This is more pronounced if the person stands up from a lying down position. This is detected by recording the blood pressure recordings in the sitting, standing and lying down positions.
Avatar m tn The symptoms of dizziness or hypotension, bradycardia and shortness of breath do not make you more prone for a heat stroke. Though you may have dehydration due to heat stroke which can cause dizziness. You need a cardiac assessment for conditions like heart blocks where the heart rate is decreased causing hypotension as a result. Anemia could also be a cause for dizziness and shortness of breath on walking but there should be accompanying tachycardia in that case.
1512628 tn?1304974064 I have vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, NMS, cardiogenic syncope... What in the world is the difference? Every time I end up in a different hospital they call my fainting something else. (Each time they get my records from each other). As of yet there remains to be no ryhme or reason why I went from the occasional fainting to a wheel chair so that I could leave my bed and crawling to the bathroom behind!!! Any thoughts???
