I am on Fentanyl 25mcg patches every 3 days I need to get off them for personal reasons. I was in a lot of pain when I started the patches and they do help a lot. I still have pain on them but I refuse to take a higher dose. I do not have a addictive personalty, I have been on them for about 1 years. The information supplied is very small. To be honest given the circumstances, I would consider a trip to the ER. They would do an ecg and also blood work and further evaluation. The bp numbers are quit high and the normal guideline is if systolic is over 180 its time for urgent er evaluation.

The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.

How can I help someone close to me get through withdrawal from fentanyl and other pain medications. I have someone close to me that was just just in the hospital and was put on fentanyl, only in the hospital though. I have heard how strong this is and was wondering how bad that would be for an addict, even if it was just one day? I don't know about these drugs much and was wondering how safe it is? I have read it's 80 times more stronger than morphine and that seems crazy.

No matter how strong something is you will eventually develop tolerance. I was on Fentanyl & came off it myself (not recommended.) Personslly I think it should only be used for end of life pain. It wreaked havoc on my body. Lots of people find when they come off narcotics they are able to manage their pain with less & often with OTC or non- narcotic methods. Phi, as always, is correct about how long it takes the Fentanyl to get into your system. If you are on the patch for 36 hrs and on that 3rd day you feel more pain, son's hesitate to tell your Dr. that because he/she can order it for you for every 48 hrs. I know how frightening it was for you when you were taken off the oxycontin. It's always scarry when we lose the med that we've been on for so long.
