Avatar f tn Thank you for being here. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian 26 years ago. Had many surgeries & hundreds of procedures. Left with a few chronic conditions, including neuralgia & truly unbearable pain. I’ve been a the fentanyl patch for years & on oxycodone, but have been trying to get to the lowest amount possible. I’m off the fentanyl patch entirely, as of 2 months ago.
Avatar f tn Hi there and Welcome to the forum- We can't advise you on amounts and dosages for your meds; it's against guidelines here. Did you use the fentanyl more than every 48 hours because of increased pain? Some pharmacists work on Sunday...but you could call the pharmacy for advice tomorrow because you still have some patches to get you through. Also, call the mail order place in the morning to ask how soon they can send your patches.
Avatar f tn I am in the pharmacy program that pays for my patched until i get my DSS and I cannot find the brandname anywhere due to the new DEA guidelines on sched 2 narcotics. Any ideas? none of the pharmacies in my county or surrounding counties have the name brand and I can't afford to buy my own generic right now.Does anyone know of a generic equivalent patch that the drug company will give me for free?
1326023 tn?1274867436 My current pain management I know is a liar, because for one thing when I asked him about 3 years ago, what 300 milligrams of morphine to take every day is equal to in a fentanyl patch he told me that it would be at least 100 or 110 and that he would have to look it up in his charts to see exactly what it is. when,I last seen him,he showed me me in his computer that being prescribed 300 milligrams of morphine a day is equal to only 75 micrograms of a fentanyl patch.
18796040 tn?1468082290 There are many changes happening due the new CDC guidelines. Doctors are panicking over these guidelines, reading them as law. I fear for the future of people who are chronic pain patients. It is just awful what is happening.
Avatar n tn I did not know he had been in and out of rehab until we parted a few weeks ago. He was on 250 mcg of Fentanyl patches every two days as well as oxycodone (80 a day). When he ran out of medicine the fluid would come off and he did much better. He would become so violent when he chewed the patches. I also found and lab tested straws that proved he was obviously snorting the oxycodone. I work for a great doctor who had tried to help this man.
Avatar f tn I am very very afraid of the withdrawl I will no doubt experience as well as the severe pain I will be in without the fentanyl. I am really in quite a pickle now.
Avatar f tn I have heard of this but had hoped that pain patients would be grandfathered in. Also the CDC guidelines were just that guidelines, not law. This is a nightmare for all pain patients and will force them out on to the streets for help.
Avatar f tn There are many people on Thyroid Chat that say that the ACCE guidelines that state subclinical would be TSH over 10 with normal t/3 t/4 or TSH 5-10 with normal t/3 t/4 and goiter or antibody are outdated and todays guidelines say that TSH should be at 1 or at least below 3 EVEN with normal t/3 t/4.
Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.
1006065 tn?1251478669 I was prescribed Fentanyl Patches while in the hospital with severe kidney issues which caused excruciating pain. I was kept on them for four months and I am the one who asked to be taken off them because of breakthrough pain and withdrawal symptoms at the 48-hour mark of the patch life...I just could not justify staying on them with the withdrawals I was experiencing on a patch that was not handling my pain. My last patch was removed on Thursday, August 20th, which was 12 days ago.
172023 tn?1334672284 Peekawho, I took Opana for 1 month, it was ok but WAY too expensive for me so I had to get off the medication. It was 80.00 for 60 pills (WITH my insurance) so they put me on fentanyl and oxycodone, which is 20.00. Opana seemed to work ok, Steve is right, it doesn't make you feel sluggish, or like you've taken narcotics, but then again I feel that either does the fentanyl patch. I feel very normal when I'm on it, I just don't have any pain anywhere.
Avatar f tn I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
Avatar m tn If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
Avatar n tn interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar f tn So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working. I have heard that fentanyl tends to work a lot longer than longer acting opioids in pill form before effectiveness begins to wane. The options that your doctor will most likely present to you are, an increase in fentanyl (which will require wearing a couple of patches versus just one), an increase or change in breakthrough pain medication and/or an addition of a long acting medication in pill form.
Avatar n tn The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with switching methadone 95mg once daily, to fentanyl patch 100mcg Hour patch? or know the methadone mg fentanyl dose equivalents?
Avatar m tn Hey buddy! Congrats on your decision to taper down. I know fentanyl can be a handful. There's several members who has tapered quite successfully At 50mcg, my doctor wanted me to switch over to Oxycotin but insurance didn't allow it, which led to going cold turkey. I'll be passing your post to current and past fentanyl users! There's tons of support here!
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
