Avatar f tn I have cancer and am on fentanyl patch and dilaudid plus Ocycontin for breakthrough pain. I have tried Senecot, Ducolace, stool softeners and Mira Lax. I had 2 brief episodes of diarrhea like excrement about 5 days ago but nothing since but some gas. Any ideas other than pharma drug? Next step I was going to try a suppository and then an enema.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl (Transdermal, Transbuccal, Transmucosal, Sublingual) Norfentanyl 4-N-(N-propionylanilino) piperidine 4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine 1-(2-phenethyl)-4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine (Source: Remitigate.com) As for my experience with transdermal fentanyl, when I used that patch, I found them effective to 2 days only, after only 3-6 months of use. For me, the problem with transdermal fentanyl was a rapid development of opioid tolerance.
Avatar f tn When I delivered my second baby 2 years ago I didnt have anything, but about 45min after the delivery they gave me fentanyl (which i was told is the replacement for stadol nowadays) because i had to have the doc scrape tissue out of my uterus because i was hemmohraging. But it (fentanyl) was really calming, although I'm not sure how much 'pain relief' it actually provided. I had stadol with my first 9 years ago and hated it, I felt drunk/high/loopy and it just made me tired.
Girl Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that Miralax can cause increased gas and the stretching of the bowek with the increased gas can cause pain. Personally, I would encourage you to give it a few more days to work. It is a good medication for constipation and often works very well with no or very few adverse health benefits. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Chuck, what type of meds do you take? What type of testing was done? Gas chromatography/mass spec looks specifically at the metabolites of a medication and levels of them. In office screens however can cause false negatives and positives, depending on the type of screen done. These are usually sent out for confirmation and specific levels.
5080348 tn?1416844854 All I can say is that when I get a BIG case of gas, I cannot burp.. Occasionally, I get a sever pain (gas or irritation) right in the center of my rib cage.. AND when they stuck that needle (right there) to get the tissue... It made me want to curl up and run for water & my pill. I am 24/7 on Nexium and was told this would probably be for life.. I know after time, gravity pulls and with all the parts I am missing or have had adjusted... things move around...
Avatar m tn Male 38 / not very active but close to moderate / overweight / 92kg - 166 cm / have had lots of abdominal pain but %90 is gone now due to eating less processed and more natural. / Very pessimistic: afraid of colonoscopy's sedation / have slight pain in mid-left abdomen (it feels like it's around kidneys but it's actually colon. I get %80 relief when release gas of after a good bowel movement) and of course the ultrasound doesn't show anything in my kidneys.
Avatar f tn I have read the posts on Fentanyl patch withdrawal. While there is much information, none of them clearly state: How long does the withdrawal last? It has been 4 days. I was on 75 mg patches for about 6 months and stopped cold turkey 4 days ago. I decided I have to stop, regardless of what the pain specialist says. I want to be off these things. I have been through several symptoms but have some important things planned this week. I need to travel, I need to be attentive.
1401023 tn?1280781358 Since starting the Oxycodone I have been a mess. The pain is reduced but my emotional nerves are frayed. I am bugged by everything and everyone!!! My temper is short-fused, and I am not at all like that normally. I have no patience with the kids and my poor husband keeps rubbing me the wrong way. I keep trying to tell him it's ME not him but it has to be hard b/c I would just like to be left alone. I hope this goes away soon. I feel really shaky, too. Is that normal?
Avatar f tn I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
Avatar f tn Hello Rott, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. I am so very sorry to hear that this manufacturing error has affected you. It's always frightening when we have to change from a medication that we have become comfortable with and that works!! I have been searching for the exact facts on the recall. It appears that the primary concern is that the non-narcotic medications (listed below) may contain the narcotic.
Avatar m tn If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
Avatar n tn interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.
Avatar m tn If there's a worry about anesthetic, ask the doc about doing a virtual colonoscopy. The prep is the same and they do use 'gas' to inflate the colon. With this form of test, little to no meds are needed. Colonoscopies are routinely performed with few meds around the world, but in the U.S. anesthesia is routinely used so that a person can be more easily moved when the whole of the body needs to be moved or re-positioned to get the scope 'around the curves.
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar f tn So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working. I have heard that fentanyl tends to work a lot longer than longer acting opioids in pill form before effectiveness begins to wane. The options that your doctor will most likely present to you are, an increase in fentanyl (which will require wearing a couple of patches versus just one), an increase or change in breakthrough pain medication and/or an addition of a long acting medication in pill form.
Avatar n tn The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with switching methadone 95mg once daily, to fentanyl patch 100mcg Hour patch? or know the methadone mg fentanyl dose equivalents?
Avatar m tn Hey buddy! Congrats on your decision to taper down. I know fentanyl can be a handful. There's several members who has tapered quite successfully At 50mcg, my doctor wanted me to switch over to Oxycotin but insurance didn't allow it, which led to going cold turkey. I'll be passing your post to current and past fentanyl users! There's tons of support here!
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
Avatar f tn I went cold turkey off fentanyl patch dr didn't taper just said wasn't going to refill it. On day 10 feel great just tired. My question is will the withdrawls be worse with the oxy? I'm on 5/325 4 times a day. This time I'm talking to dr about tapering and I got something for withdrawls on day 4. I also take soma I assume this will be done at the sametime.
Avatar n tn about 2 weeks ago had no oxy left snd i tried to avoid withdrawal with fentanyl patches. 2 of 100 and 1 of 50 but after the simptoms of w/d ended i took them of and put another when simptoms started and so on till this mondey when i finished all the patches i had. monday i had a hard w/d but sedate my self with xanax valium and carmabazepine i got on prescription. yesterday i felt better but i made in fentanyl iv with 10% of an old patch i used only 12 hours and today same.
Avatar f tn Within 24 hous you should begin to feel tje fentanyl working, and after a day or two after you apply the 2nd patch, the level of fentanyl in your system will stablize. You can do a couple of things to make sure the patch is working. First, make sure that patch is properly applied and second, acquire the covers for the patch. Information about proper application of tjeeethe patch and the covers is is on the patient information you should have received with the medication.
