Avatar n tn All of us here who are using opiate therapy should know what the symptoms of withdrawal are and how they can be treated.
Avatar f tn I wonder if the dose was too low for someone who is as opiate tolerant as I am? He also says I can take Norco for breakthrough pain. I was asking for Fentanyl patches, but he said Methadone works better for nerve pains, which is associated with fibromygalia. Any inputs? How does this medication affect you guys? Are you able to drive and care for your children/work? Thanks in advance!
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
Avatar n tn I also want to thank you for your service .I don't know much about any of the drugs you are taking I just wanted to thank you for fighting for us and let you know I am so sorry you were injured in combat .
Avatar f tn I only have a little relief after 6 hrs. Can I still get relief? Thank you everyone for your help. I feel so alone.
5135507 tn?1367163227 Fentanyl is a good drug to treat pain for terminally ill patients , or ppl who need 24 hour pain relief. But drs are passing this drug out to patients who don't need it or they keep increasing the dosage until its almost impossible to get off of it when the time comes. I know, it happened to me. Then wnen the dr was fired after I was on it for 5 yrs, I was basically screwed.
Avatar n tn I believe that I was receiving adequate pain control for 80% of time when I was using only 25 mcg/hr fentanyl. I am concerned that the side effects I had been experiencing on 25 mcg/hr fentanyl (nausea, occasional vomiting, decreased appetite and insomnia) will increase, and I may be putting myself at greater risk of dependence or narcotic addiction. Nor am I entirely confident that the increased fentanyl dosage will eliminate my breakthrough pain.
1417802 tn?1282173063 25 mcg per HR? Is this a patch? I thought this was a pain patch replaced every 3 days. Or am I misunderstanding an abbreviation? I would read up on fentanyl (type it in the search line). There are lots of cares to be considered with it and it is habit forming as well. But it has been fatal to some people. My friend's mother just went to the hospital after her dr. put her on this patch for pain (she has heart arhythmia). ER said "you can't be on this med".
614661 tn?1267273924 Hi Carmel, thanks for the info, yes, I started a few years ago on just Oxycodone, then as the pain became worse, I was given Oxycontin for a more consistant pain relief and used Oxycodone as needed for that break through pain.
Avatar f tn Please don't eat, heat up or do anything other than apply the patches as prescribed. I understand your pain isn't being relieved. Call your doctor and let him/her know that the patches aren't working. The doctor might increase the dosage of the patch, add another medication to take with the patch, change medications altogether. Whatever happens you simply have to take it as prescribed. Doing anything else jeopardises your health, and maybe even your life.
Avatar m tn I dont like the dilaudid b/c it messes with my vision and gives no real pain relief, I like the oxycodone 15mg for breakthru pain...
Avatar f tn I recommend that you stay on the lowest dose of the patch that gives you adequate pain relief. Your only 28 years old and you are on almost 200 mcg/hr of fentanyl. Your tolerance will make it hard to get effective analgesia 10 years from now as the dosage required will be beyond what level most doctors are willing to prescribe. If you can get by on the 50, 75, or 100 mcg/hr fentanyl patch, I highly advise you to do this.
Avatar n tn I first started pain management for leg pain which still continues. What is your opinion about fentanyl, and also surgery on neck when their are multi-level problems causing same symptoms?
910419 tn?1289483727 And, if you can say why you think it might be the right fit for you (long-term pain relief is something you mentioned above... other things you didn't mention but are reasons why some other people think it is a fit for them: not having to take pills at specific times every day, not as much break-through pain as with pills, low abuse potential).
Avatar f tn t really know!
Avatar m tn Hi I was just looking for everyone's personal opinion regarding my history of pain and narcotic meds. My pain is from DDD, arthritis in my back L4-L5, S1, sciatica left leg and also severe arthritis in my knees and I had to retire early as a Firefighter of 22 years. 10 years ago started on Tylenol 3 and slowly went to Percocet, OxyContin then to morphine MS Contin and statex to dilauded and hydro morphing ER to back to oxycodone and now on fentanyl 37 mcg.
Avatar m tn I was just put on fentanyl 12mcg. I am taking 3 norco for breakthrough pain. I am not getting much relief. It seems like the patch is most effective on the 1st day, and I get no relief on the third day, anyone else experience this problem?
Avatar n tn I know several people with serious pain that were on compunds similar to yours, that had better luck when they switched to Fentanyl patches for long-acting relief and something like hydrocodone, or maybe even fentanyl suckers for breakthrough pain. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn I did not care for Fentanyl. Everyone is different and some people get great relief from them. They did help my pain a little but I couldn't hack the side effects.
Avatar f tn I still have horrible pain. It takes about 4 hours for the new patch to start working when I put it on, and the relief that I do get lasts about 24 hours. I would not recommend this course of medication to anyone.
Avatar n tn There are many conversion tables available through the internet and Doctors also use theconversion method when finding the right dose for you. Fentanyl is one of the strongest pain meds on the market and it will take a high dose to reach the equivalency. For instance: 77.5mcg of Fentanyl= 150mg of Oxycodone per day. This calculates to approx. 2, 80mg of Oxycontin per day. So in my OPINION, it would take at least that to reach your needed relief.
Avatar f tn t leave you hanging stay strong try to do some walking i know that sounds like **** but need too sweet and get you mind on and if your not useing med for pain what about methadone they well help you get off the **** you body going in to shock god bless you
Avatar f tn No no no! Please don't do this. Yes it is possible for you to OD. If you are not getting proper pain relief you may also need a breakthrough oral medication. DO NOT MESS WITH FENTANYL. Fentanyl is not a good med for chronic pain. What other meds have you tried for Lupus? I have 4 serious chronic pain illnesses (Crohn's Rheumatoid Arthritis Interstitial Cystitis and Stage 4 endometriosis) I ended up on Fentanyl before and after my last surgery.
