7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
Avatar n tn I believe that I was receiving adequate pain control for 80% of time when I was using only 25 mcg/hr fentanyl. I am concerned that the side effects I had been experiencing on 25 mcg/hr fentanyl (nausea, occasional vomiting, decreased appetite and insomnia) will increase, and I may be putting myself at greater risk of dependence or narcotic addiction. Nor am I entirely confident that the increased fentanyl dosage will eliminate my breakthrough pain.
Avatar f tn I am prescribed quite a few pain meds and benzo's for Chronic pain and anxiety but need advice on getting off Fentanyl Patch ASAP. I am prescribed Fentanyl Patch 100mcg every 36 hrs, Diladid 8mg 2-3 daily, Percocet 7.5 4 daily, Norco 7.5 4 daily, klonopin 1mg 4x daily, Valium 10mg 2-3 daily, Flexeril 10mg 3x daily, Phenergan 25mg 2x daily. I now am down to taking 50mcg Fentanyl every 72 hrs, 1/2 so 4 mg of Diladid if needed 0-2 a day, 1/2 of Percocet so about 3.
Avatar m tn I was on the Fentanyl 100mcg patch with dilaudid for breakthrough...up until about a month ago. I have pain that will always be here...but I am 36 years old, and I was getting very uncomfortable with the high doses of medications I was on. Also had problems with the patched staying on long enough, or the patches would last maybe 48 hrs and then I'd feel like I'd start feeling withdrawal symptoms for the last 24 and into the next patch for a few hours.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Opana ER 30mg /2 TID for long term spinal pain due to breaks and fusions. I am going to try replacing that for a short time with a Fentanyl Patch to see if I have any improvement in Pain Mgmt. I am just wondering what regimen I should use to safely do this. For example. Is it as easy as waiting 12 hrs. after my last Opana ER and then apply the patch (it's a 3 day patch) then take another ER once the 3 days has expired?
5410312 tn?1367531622 Wow!! What a mess!! I know, too well, about fentanyl patches. I was on them for 5 yrs for 3 failed back surgeries. My dr was fired about 45 days ago and left 600 patients to come off pain meds, cold turkey. I was on the 100 mcg/hr every 72 hrs, a few months ago, I decided I wanted to wean off fentanyl...I couldn't get below 75 mcg every 48 hrs. Also was on oxycodone 10/650, 4 × daily. I tell you all this because you should've been weaned off fentanyl...
910419 tn?1289483727 Now... I am not exactly saying that I think fentanyl is the wrong medication for your pain, in fact... from everything you have told me about your pain levels and constant pain, fentanyl seems very appropriate and I understand completely why you would want it... I just think that it is the wrong medication for your body chemistry at the moment if what I've understood is correct, I'm just worried it would kill you. But, that doesn't mean you couldn't eventually take it...
Avatar m tn s my understanding that the fentanyl patch is one of the strongest meds .I know several on it who say it works well for them. I would discuss this with my PM and see what they would recommend for you .
Avatar n tn All of us here who are using opiate therapy should know what the symptoms of withdrawal are and how they can be treated.
6815927 tn?1395511425 Jenelle, thank you for your thoughts--I was hoping to hear from someone that had been on methadone. I had heard that methadone was the hardest opiate to detox from and I don't know why my psychiatrist thought it would be easier. I think it is one of those incidences where the medical community thinks they know what is best but had never experienced a practical application of their beliefs.
1417802 tn?1282173063 25 mcg per HR? Is this a patch? I thought this was a pain patch replaced every 3 days. Or am I misunderstanding an abbreviation? I would read up on fentanyl (type it in the search line). There are lots of cares to be considered with it and it is habit forming as well. But it has been fatal to some people. My friend's mother just went to the hospital after her dr. put her on this patch for pain (she has heart arhythmia). ER said "you can't be on this med".
5135507 tn?1367163227 Fentanyl is a good drug to treat pain for terminally ill patients , or ppl who need 24 hour pain relief. But drs are passing this drug out to patients who don't need it or they keep increasing the dosage until its almost impossible to get off of it when the time comes. I know, it happened to me. Then wnen the dr was fired after I was on it for 5 yrs, I was basically screwed.
Avatar n tn I first started pain management for leg pain which still continues. What is your opinion about fentanyl, and also surgery on neck when their are multi-level problems causing same symptoms?
Avatar f tn Just like you , I am 29 and have been on pain meds for years b/c of chronic, severe pain. I too wanted to detox off of 150mcg of the patches b/c my doc did the radio frequency which is temproray and I am waiting to get the pain pacemaker free b/c i can't afford it. I practically detoxed off of the fentanyl patches cold turkey. If you use suboxone, your withdrawals will be easier but then you have to detox off of the suboxone which I heard is not easy.
Avatar m tn I dont like the dilaudid b/c it messes with my vision and gives no real pain relief, I like the oxycodone 15mg for breakthru pain...
Avatar f tn I never abused the Fentanyl or any other drug and went on it as a last resort for the severe back pain. i never plan to use another Fentanyl patch again. I hate the things. I felt as if Fentanyl was running my life instead of me and have become so negative. i have to get my old vivacious, funny loving personality back! As I said, any tips will be appreciated, especially for the insomnia problem and the low self esteem I have developed from being angry at myself for getting into this situation.
Avatar f tn Hello Karen, I have been on the Fentanyl patch now for about a month along with 30mg Morphine for brake through pain. During this month I became severly depressed and was put on Effexor and Seroquel. It has made me so lazy. I just don't feel like doing anything... I don't sleep I just don't want to do anything. The contract is designed to cover the Dr.. As we know their are a few that will abuse the goodness of the Pain Dr.
Avatar f tn or that it will just take time, trial and error to find the right combination of pain medications to best control your chronic pain? I know that is true for many of us. I wish you well and hope you will keep in touch. How are you doing today?
Avatar m tn I have been on three (3) 100 mcg patches every 72 hours plus 3 norcos a day for years now for a back disability. If fentanyl is supposed to be so strong then why do I feel normal yet still have pain and could use more pain medication. Has anyone ever heard of anyone on this much fentanyl and if so how are they handling it? any other comments are welcome as well.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, Ok, background, I was taking 125 mcg fentanyl patch with 15 mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain for 3years. I have/had chronic hereditary pancreatitis. Well I had a total pancreatomy with islet cell transplant in December of 2012. When I woke up they had switched my meds to 8 mg diluadid every 3 hours and 15 mg methadone every 8 hours. I tapered off of the diluadid a month ago, and am trying to stop the methadone.
790421 tn?1341230131 For me, they did provide very good pain control. My doctor also had me on a short acting pain med for breakthrough pain, which is not unusual for any type of long acting pain med. I hope this information helps and I also hope that if you decide to try the patches, that they give you the pain control that you need and deserve. Best of luck! Let me know how it goes.
