fentanyl for fibromyalgia

I might have fibromyalgia so I don't know if this is part of that or if I am having some anxiety issue or both. My body hurts and feels numb at the same time. The numbness is kind of freaking me out. It makes the pain and when I touch myself just feel like pressure. I also wondered if maybe I am having some depersonalization issue as that can make your body feel numb as well.

I'm a little confused too, but my heart breaks for you. It is such a slippery slope when you're dealing with such strong drugs and you have a pain condition. I have fibromyalgia as well as a long list of other things. I'm on the Fentanyl patch along with other meds. I'm supposed to change the patch every 2 days but I change it every 3 because I'm afraid of it. I'm wondering if you're on the methadone and the Fentanyl together and are you stopping both?

Fentanyl is the only med that helps my two degenerative diseases, and turned it down years ago. Why do you want to know this?, and if you don't mind sharing a little about your situation to possibly help you more appropriately. Thanks..

Thank you for being here. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian 26 years ago. Had many surgeries & hundreds of procedures. Left with a few chronic conditions, including neuralgia & truly unbearable pain. I’ve been a the fentanyl patch for years & on oxycodone, but have been trying to get to the lowest amount possible. I’m off the fentanyl patch entirely, as of 2 months ago.

I have been on a fentanyl patch for about 8 years for Ankylosing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia. The doctor who prescribed them is no longer able to prescribe them as his board of directors for his practice has decided that they can no longer do pain management. I have tried unsuccessfully to find another doctor in my area. The doctors want to do nerve blocks/etc. so no one will take me until I come off the fentanyl.

I have been using,as prescribed, 50mcg patches for nearly a year. I want to detox but the wd are killing me even while on the patch,like when the pharmacy gives me a different brand... i feel like dying. does anyone have advice for a relatively quick detox? I sick of this rollercoaster, my fibromyalgia is there but i think the wd pain is worse. I have begun seeing a chiropractor to help.

Im a Fibromyalgia patient with severe body aches and pain bad enough for narcotic pain killers. I get urine drug tested every month when i go to get my prescriptions from a pain management clinic. I have tested positive for either Hydrocodone or Oxycontin the last 6 times I tested. I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me.

I am also interested in forming a support group for fibromyalgia, if you are anyone are interesed please let me know. I was diagnosed 2 yrs. ago.

Thank you for your reply! I'm going to look into University pain clinics up in the DC area. It's a 2 hr drive but still that's not too bad and if someone can help me it's worth it. I had some changes since I last wrote. A couple days ago I had some stronger than usual flank pain and since it was day one of my patch it was kind of suspicious (it's not odd for me to have pain - but usually it's stronger when the patch has worn down some).

ty for your response. I am doing this under a medical dr's care, I have had my gums checked by three oral pysicians who couldnot determine the cause. I take Vit C 1000mg's every day, have had my iron checked out, and take vit B's. I am at my wits end. I am on a dose now of 12mg's oxy's. This gum pain started last year, when I was off of oxy's for 3 months.

She lived in South Carolina at the time and has since moved to Texas. Her Oncologist in South Carolina had her on Fentanyl patches after lots of other medications didn’t work. Her new Oncologist insists the joint pain has nothing to do with her cancer or treatments and wants her off the Fentanyl. He believes she has Fibromyalgia and wants her to try some of the same medications she has already tried. She had no pain and was very healthy and active prior the her prior to her treatment.

Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.

I have been on the fentenyl. Patch. 50 mcg every 48 for really bad pain from fibromyalgia and lupus for about 2 years and still having breakthrough pain. I have taken so many medications I got so depressed I quit the fent last.f week was he'll and I am so scared that it won't end. I go to the Er and all tdo is iv lost liquids. I can't.keep anything down and all they say is to see my pain md. When I called a million times all I finally got was a appointment for 5 days from now.

I also take anti inflammatory and Cymbalta because I have Fibromyalgia, which I do think that helps for this but not for the pain on back... Can anyone please give me advice on this.... PLEASE, I would like to know if there's any hope for me. On top of all this, it really doesn't help having a three yr old when they want to run around and I feel guilty if I can't take her out because I'm in too much pain.

I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?

Holly crap. I was prescribed Fentanyl over a year ago and used it for one month for sever back pain when the hydrocodone wasn't working anymore. I didn't have any pain but was loosing my mind. Suicidal thoughts and all I can describe is delusional thinking. I wound up I. The hospital thinking I was having a heart attack. They said it was only anxiety and prescribed nerve pills.

I have been on them for almost 7 years for severe fibromyalgia and a type of arthritis. I started out on 25 for a year, then 50 for about 4 years, then 62, and now I'm up to 75 mcg/hr every 2 days for the past year, and I hit the wall, for me, with dealing with the tolerance and dependence issues, and I want off.

for example, if I am having a severe pain flare which caused me to need additional rescue medication for pain, (usually Fentanyl Actiq), to add to what I already am taking, my doctor will not give this to me without the steroid shot first. Check it out, it is worth it. also you need to get it from a compounding pharmacy because as of now it is only made in 50mg capsules, the max dose for Fibro patients is 4.5 mg.

I am diagnosed with 3 herniated cervical discs and fibromyalgia. I have a history 2 years ago of substance abuse (because of these pain issues). I have been thru a year of treatment and clean for 2 years. Finally referred to pain managment MD who is reluctant to prescribe opioids to treat chronic pain. Tried duragesic patch - 25 mcg TOO strong and 12 did nothing.

I asked if I could bring my unused fentanyl patches in to the office for destruction and then receive a prescription for an equal number of patches, which I would then fill with my preferred (Mylan) brand that has adhered more consistently to my skin. I also mentioned that I was still experiencing breakthrough pain, as I wrote above, and that I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with my physician at my next scheduled appointment about pain management.

Maybe fentanyl ant the right pain med for you, my mom couldnt and wouldn't take oxycodon it made her head spin she said but she could take hydrocode but she only took them if she was hurtting really really bad...she had bearst cancer and so do i..it spread to her bones she passed last year...i whacthed her hurt day after day and she wouldn't take the pain meds...i asked her why she said she just didnt like how they made her feel.
