Its a wonderful drug.
Avatar f tn Hello-Ive been reading everyones stories,I feel for you cop722 if your still here-Basically 10 or so years ago I developed what everyone knows now as fibromyalgia-I started to take regular 5mg percs from Dr. that was ok for years, then I had a car accident four years ago messing up the L-5 and 4.
Avatar f tn Thank you for being here. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian 26 years ago. Had many surgeries & hundreds of procedures. Left with a few chronic conditions, including neuralgia & truly unbearable pain. I’ve been a the fentanyl patch for years & on oxycodone, but have been trying to get to the lowest amount possible. I’m off the fentanyl patch entirely, as of 2 months ago.
Avatar m tn I have been on a fentanyl patch for about 8 years for Ankylosing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia. The doctor who prescribed them is no longer able to prescribe them as his board of directors for his practice has decided that they can no longer do pain management. I have tried unsuccessfully to find another doctor in my area. The doctors want to do nerve blocks/etc. so no one will take me until I come off the fentanyl.
Avatar f tn Hello, I just joined as well. How are you doing? I'm on day two of withdrawing from fentanyl pain patches. I have herniated discs and fibromyalgia. Anything in particular you'd like to talk about??
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply! I'm going to look into University pain clinics up in the DC area. It's a 2 hr drive but still that's not too bad and if someone can help me it's worth it. I had some changes since I last wrote. A couple days ago I had some stronger than usual flank pain and since it was day one of my patch it was kind of suspicious (it's not odd for me to have pain - but usually it's stronger when the patch has worn down some).
Avatar f tn She lived in South Carolina at the time and has since moved to Texas. Her Oncologist in South Carolina had her on Fentanyl patches after lots of other medications didn’t work. Her new Oncologist insists the joint pain has nothing to do with her cancer or treatments and wants her off the Fentanyl. He believes she has Fibromyalgia and wants her to try some of the same medications she has already tried. She had no pain and was very healthy and active prior the her prior to her treatment.

1337431 tn?1280955899 I just started Fentanyl 100MCG/HR (the patch) this week. I have chronic pain (neuropathic pain); I had a herniated disc and had surgery which apparently didn't do very much, the pain still radiates from my back all the way down to my toes. The tingling and burning sensation is unbearable, on top of all this, I also have Fibromyalgia, arthritis on my legs, and carpotunel. I have a 17 and 3 yr old to support, but only able to work part time because of the pain.
Avatar f tn I was given my first dose of Lyrica last night and I slept brilliantly for once, today I've been very sleepy and when I took a nap I couldn't stand up when I awoke because my hip just flared up so badly I couldn't even walk. Luckily I am in hospital, so they gave me morphine straight away and its feeling much better. I really don't know very much about Lyrica and I'd like to hear what some people have experienced with it.
Avatar m tn I am into day 6 or 7 of no fentanyl after 10+ years. This is rough I'm kickin this on my own and hell can hardly be much worse. Is anyone else out there trying to do it his way. I know it's dangerous to do it this way but I haven't completely lost what little is left of my brain. Fentanyl has to be the beast of all drugs and I've been through all of them before. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to this board community but not new to Fentanyl patches. I have been on them for almost 7 years for severe fibromyalgia and a type of arthritis. I started out on 25 for a year, then 50 for about 4 years, then 62, and now I'm up to 75 mcg/hr every 2 days for the past year, and I hit the wall, for me, with dealing with the tolerance and dependence issues, and I want off.
Avatar m tn I have Lupus, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis. When I have flareups of these conditions, doctors seem to want to give me steroid shots to help. Early on, this caused me no problem. However, I've been noticing for about two years now, a correlation between receiving a shot and my pain going through the roof.
1373852 tn?1307843048 I would like to know if drugs such as levaquin and cipro and the medicines they use to keep a person in a medical coma can cause fibromyalgia or symptoms like it that persist once the person is recovered from the original illness.I had a bad asthma attack nine months ago,was put in a medical coma for respiratory failure because of it.I have had every test or almost.cbc, autoimmune, hiv, hep c,b,a.I have had emg, eeg, nerve conduction, brain mri, cervical spine.
Avatar f tn So he lowered my script from 3 20mgs oxy a day to 3 10 mg oxy a day and put me on Fentanyl 25mcg every 3 days. Anyways, I put one on and don't like them at all. They make me feel very depressed, moody and tired so I looked it up and good grief, it makes oxy look like a walk in the park. Maybe he thinks because I cant crush them up and snort them I'll be ok?? lol.
1128145 tn?1260343690 I started fentanyl patch few weeks ago at 25mcg then 12mcg patch was added last week. I am STILL having bad pain and "new" pain. I have read some horrible stuff on this medication and am worried about use, I read about liver damage? can you tell me about this? Also have new pain as of 2 days ago, in neck on left side from base of skull that goes down (feels like) around scapula.
Avatar n tn I am diagnosed with 3 herniated cervical discs and fibromyalgia. I have a history 2 years ago of substance abuse (because of these pain issues). I have been thru a year of treatment and clean for 2 years. Finally referred to pain managment MD who is reluctant to prescribe opioids to treat chronic pain. Tried duragesic patch - 25 mcg TOO strong and 12 did nothing.
Avatar f tn Iam a mother with 2 young children and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 4 years ago. Since then I have been suffering with extreme pain that never lets up. I am curious if anyone else has ideas on which medicines work better for pain. I also suffer from depression and anxiety issues. I also have difficulty sleeping, I feel so alone, because neither my family or friends understand my problems. They think I do not really have medical problems. I appreciate if anyone replies!
Avatar f tn I have been on the fentanyl patches for 5 years and have had the worst side affects of any medications I have ever taken in my life, and believe me I've been on plenty to be a pharmacy tech without the schooling (that's what it seems like if you know what I mean). Anyway I have also been taking opioid pain meds other than the fentanyl for over 10 years.
Avatar n tn hello...i too have fibromyalgia...but unfortunately i am unfamiliar with the fentanyl patch, so i dont dare give advice about something i am unfamiliar with...but just hang in there, i am sure someone who has the knowledge will chime in soon for you...good luck hun...
Avatar n tn you may have fibromyalgia. You need to get some medicine to come off of fentynal. Go to a pain mgmt dr if you can and he should help you.
1337431 tn?1280955899 m going to see him tomorrow but I am so tired of being on meds and not even working all the time. I do have a lot of neuropathic pain and also have Fibromyalgia. I am pretty frustrated because it just seems like your life revolves around your pills. I sometimes take more than I have to to get rid of the pain in the real bad days. I've always taken them normally not chewing or anything like that. I have considered going on suboxon.
Avatar f tn I have bad diabetic nueropathy and fibromyalgia along w lupus. Im on oxycodone 60mg a day and fentanyl patches 75mg every 3 days. I swear on the bible i have never missed 1 dose. My pcp doctor drug tested me and claims NO drugs were in my system ! She claims i broke the drug contract i signed and wont see me anymore. How is this possible ? I demanded a retest and was told no, the dr even suggested my caregiver was taking them or we were selling the stuff !
720490 tn?1300442145 I will point out that it has been 4 years since the failed surgery, and it is possible that you have developed a new condition, such as fibromyalgia. In fact, I am surprised that you still relate your current symptoms to your surgery a number of years ago. Have you had other surgeries since that one?
Avatar f tn Emg of lower body also normal. And mri was normal. Doc told me today that its fibromyalgia. And gave me a med called savella. The diagnosis kinda makes sense with my symptoms. But i never thought i had a low pain tolerence. I actually think i have a high pain tolerance. Im glad that its nothing more serious but im not 100 % sure its accurate.
