What is the greatest help for the insomnia when getting off of Fentanyl? My nights are like HELL. I sleep for about 1 hour, wake up, then have a terrible time getting back to sleep. I did not want to do it but just started taking Suboxone because I cannot imagine going back to work tomorrow without anything for withdrawal and severe back pain. Any help will be SO appreciated!

OMG no!!! Using fentanyl patches to get OFF of methadone? You'd be headed for serious trouble with that plan. Check with your Dr. to get a good plan in place to get off the meth. You'd only be trading addictions with this plan. Good luck to you! And talk to your Dr.!!

My moms doctor took her from taking 4 percocet 10s a day to fentanyl patch 50 mg every 72 hrs...is this normal? She has rheumatoid arthritis.

There are so many different studies and opinions on this issue, I don't think it will ever be resolved... We all know that study data can be skewed any way one wants to skew it, in order to come up with the preferred results. I've just been switched from Fentanyl 25mcg every 48 hrs to Oxymorphone 10mg every 12hrs. I feel way worse (pain) & was wondering if anyone knows what the equivalence is between the 2. I have a feeling I've just been decreased in pain relief. My dr & the pharmacist told me to wait a few days to "feel it's working" & in the meantime I'm in excruciating pain. For three months I went on Fentanyl patches. The idea is the patch keeps you from feeling the effects of the suboxone withdrawal. My Doctor said it takes on average three months for suboxone to leave the blood stream. In my case it took longer. I've been off suboxone since may 2008, and off fentanyl since august 2008. I'm still a wreck, fatigue, loose stoole, depression, anxiety, insomnia, constant sneezing, stuffy nose, watery eyes, etc....

yesterday I spoke how gr8 I felt from ct from the fentanyl patch 200mch. well I still feel a whole lot better than I did from methadone ct but last night the NO SLEEP GOT ME. I slept maybe 2 hrs on and off. to me thats the worst part of the whole thing.

Some History of my condition. I have a rare hereditary illness, lacking plasma that holds the cells together on bottom of feet. It was never too bad ( I can handle tons of pain) but 5 years ago it was so bad I couldn't walk at all and was so painful. I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?

If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
