1354136 tn?1331875317 If it isn't impacted, the extraction shouldn't be a big deal. As long as your dentist takes his time and goes easy, you should get through it with minimal discomfort. Also ask your dentist if he can use some nitrous along with the local. It really does help - especially with keeping your nerves under control. Good luck!
Avatar n tn In people more vulnerable to bleed, the drug is stopped at least a week before extraction. Post extraction, you can re-start the medication after 24 hours if there has been no bleeding. Sometimes you may need to wait for 2-3 days after which you are allowed to re-start aspirin. Please discuss this with your dentist. Take care!

Avatar n tn Approximately 6 days ago, my SO (a 40+ YO WM alcoholic) had an extraction of a molar after being on 10 days of Pen-Vee K; no antibiotics post procedure. Five days later, he is now having shaking chills alternating with sweats/feeling hot (no thermometer available, so temp not documented). Negligible solid intake until yesterday, with minimal appetite but able to keep down small quantities at a time. Also, some complaints of frequent soft bowel movements but no diarrhea per se.
Avatar f tn First 2 weeks had dry socket alot of pain, now extraction site closed and no pain but a gummy bubble like lump has appeared over extraction site.
Avatar f tn I have 3 teeth in need of extraction and one in need of a root canal. It ***** to have to wait.
19028025 tn?1473902866 I had a tooth extraction on Monday morning and it was a painless process. It bled for about two hours, then stopped. I assume a clot formed. I have been on a light diet of mashed potatoes, pudding, and apple sauce since. I have not used a straw nor have I spit. I have had some excess saliva, so I have had to swallow often. It does feel a lot like sucking through a straw, I suppose. I do not smoke, etc.
Avatar n tn After receiveing the bill, I realized that the dentist had charge for the extraction as well as an alveoplasty. My insurance is saying that alveoplasty is only necessary when the gum is being prepared for dentures (I am not getting dentures) and that a standard extraction includes a smooting of the bone to promote healing. I am wondering if it is standard practice to say that the alveoplasty is a separate procedure from the extraction.
Avatar f tn I have never had such pain before after a tooth extraction. Why are my gum lines feeling sore. It is no where near the tooth extraction?
Avatar m tn One of my wisdom tooth was pulled out on Tuesday, I felt an ache in the area which I believed was the normal healing process. After researching I am little concern about the side of extraction. The gums in front of the extraction (teeth 18,19, 20) are bleeding when I floss, and when I put pressure on them with my finger. There is also a slight pain as well. Is this normal? Or is this an infection of some sort?
Avatar f tn Following extraction of an upper molar and wisdom tooth, I have suffered from miserable coated tongue, a sensation of dryness, and loss some of sensation in my upper lip. Could this be the result of any nerve damage from the extractions?
Avatar n tn Should an infected tooth be treated with antibiotic before extraction? Is this a judgement call by the dentist or should caution be used to reduce the risk of a puss pocket forming causing much more damage after extraction is complete? And what does it mean when the local anesthesia still doesn't numb the area after the third dose? Are there reasons that the local anesthesia would not work? Thank you.
Avatar n tn However, I now have a very painful, sharp bony protrusion on the outside of the gum area of the extraction. Is this some kind of broken or crushed socket?
Avatar m tn I expect to have an implant some time later. At the time of extraction, the dentist told me I need have bone graft and it should be done at the time of tooth extractio or at least within two weeks after the extraction. But I did not follow his advice and just simply had the tooth extracted. My question is if I am to have an implant later, can I still have bone graft at that time?
Avatar m tn Feel free to talk to your dentist prior to the extraction and ask him what his plans for post extraction pain control are. Best of luck and please keep us posted on how you're doing.
Avatar n tn I had cottage cheese for lunch, as my dentist said that was safe, and when I checked the extraction site in the mirror afterwards I noticed that not only did it appear that the clot was gone, but there were some cottage cheese pieces sitting on the extraction site. I had no toothpicks and had to go back to work immediately, so I rinsed with salt water and then went back to work. I waited until I got home to use the toothpick, but now it appears that the food is gone.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to have a tooth extraction while you are under certain medications? I am currently taking eltoxin 50mcg (levothyroxin sodium) in the morning and depakote 500mg (divalproex sodium) in the evening. I am for schedule to have tooth extraction this weekend.
Avatar f tn I have hypercementosis(mis spell) and had an extraction of number 4 tooth 6 weeks ago. I'm experience a lot of pain and the only thing that helps is my finger in place of the missing tooth. I've had two course of antibotics. The area has been checked twice and they thought I might need a root canal in tooth number 5. Specialist checked with no reaction to hot, cold and pressure so she prescribed oral rinse. I looked and the area is white but doctor said that it's healing.
Avatar m tn He said he was negative. Thing is I had a tooth extraction about a week ago and I was wondering would that be a risk for exposure to hiv? I read oral is low to no risk but im a little worried since the tooth extraction. He didn't ejaculate in my mouth but I'm still wondering.. The area in my mouth is still healing since the extraction happened last week so i was wondering if he did have hiv could any of the fluids get into that area and cause exposure?
1809287 tn?1316744936 about a week ago i had a tooth extraction done on my very back molar on my lower right side. the extraction went pretty well, although quite uncomfortable. afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches.
Avatar m tn Now however, I have a mild gum infection in the same area as the extraction. The dentist started me on Peridex rinses 5 times a day. I have been on it 1 1/2 days. So last night I noticed a small hard white bump (triangular shaped) above my front tooth. It's pretty high up...enough to make my nose uncomfortable. The bump does not hurt to be touched and the tooth below it does not hurt. This position is 5 teeth away from the extraction site on top.
Avatar n tn infected teeth are very difficult to numb. usually a course of antibiotics before the extraction works well. have the tooth checked it might just be a case of needing the root canal redone and an extraction is not necessary.
Avatar m tn I went to a dentist to extract my "upper right back" tooth. The extraction was incomplete. The dentist told me that he could not remove as the tip(root) is very close to the jaw. Is it safe to leave it as it is? And how long?
Avatar f tn It seems to be affecting the tooth in front of the extraction site as well as the extraction site. I am still getting the tingling in my chin and also have some nausea.
Avatar m tn by the way sir i have history of hepa B that is what i am expecting they will say to me but now it was HIV extraction is it because of hepa thats why they asked me to undergo HIV extraction
Avatar n tn 7 days ago, I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted. 1 was a surgical extraction, 2 were partial boney impacted extractions, and the 4th was 100% boney impacted extraction. The first 3 are healing great. There is no more pain. The 4th extraction caused severe swelling, bruising all the way down my neck beginning at the jaw, and was very painful. I was unable to eat food for 4 days because I could not open my mouth enough.
