Avatar f tn I was in an automobile accident over a year ago, I have been on the fentanyl patch since then, still have a lot of pain but I want off this patch BAD! They are trying to have me keep it on a day longer but I am having severe withdrawal symptoms severe sweats, bone cold, feeling like i'm coming out of my skin, anxiety, irritability, and muscle pain.
Avatar f tn How to wean off Fentanyl patches and high doses of Vicodin? Anyone try Suboxone?
767538 tn?1276575320 25 mg is low for someone so opiate tolerant but be very careful I had a horrible experience with fentanyl, I was up to 75mg every 48 hours and It is horrible getting weaned. I hope you have better luck and can be pain free!
Avatar n tn If you buy Transparent Film Patches, they are the same dressing that hospitals use over IV’s. You can buy them in bulk all over the Internet and are made by several suppliers i.e Nexcare, but I preferred the ones made by 3M, TEGADERM (link below). They withstand sweat, showers, gardening…everything! They are made in different sizes and will be large enough to cover the larger 100 mcg.
Avatar f tn m sorry that you are having difficulty keeping your patch on. I ALSO use the Fentanyl Patches - 62mcg - I use one 50 and one 12. Where do you place your patches on your body? I place mine on my back in the shoulder blade area. Some people do have problems with keeping them on, BUT fortunately I've NEVER had that problem.
Avatar f tn I don't believe its too early. I believe you should buy small things if your having a baby shower, you don't want to buy something someone brought as a gift. but as long as you have the gender confirmed .. i believe you could began buying things.
Avatar f tn I am in the pharmacy program that pays for my patched until i get my DSS and I cannot find the brandname anywhere due to the new DEA guidelines on sched 2 narcotics. Any ideas? none of the pharmacies in my county or surrounding counties have the name brand and I can't afford to buy my own generic right now.Does anyone know of a generic equivalent patch that the drug company will give me for free?
526311 tn?1229286330 Fentanyl (like oxycodone, ritalin, etc.) is a CII narcotic and as such, can only be dispensed from a pharmacist with a hand-written prescription, and is never permitted any refills. I have doubts as to whether anything could be done through an online pharmacy or faxed for the patches or the percs. I don't mean to sound like a pompous know-it-all, but working for Drs. for so long makes you pretty knowledgeable.
Avatar n tn i went to the dr to day while i was in his office i was discussing fentanyl patches with another paitent. i told them that i have always had to buy overlays to keep them on. they said to use a blow dryer to heat them up first then put them on they would stick better, i asked wouldnt this be bad heating them up they replied not if you do it while it is not on your skin.
Avatar f tn I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
Avatar f tn Over a 10 yr period I have been being treated for many severe back problems.Over those 10 yrs I've worked up a tolerance and am now on 100 mcg fentanyl patches every 48 hrs and 10 mg percocet 4 x's a day or as needed.I've been on this dose for over 2 yrs. Over Labor Day wknd my doctor has passed away.Long story short, his father-in-law has taken over the practice because my old doctor apparently left 100's of us addicted to amounts of pain meds.
610983 tn?1351309926 s 75mcg and 100mcg for Fentanyl patch available as you are on 50mcg Fentanyl Patch right now and as for Percocet, 10/325 and 10/650. Just try those first with increasements of dosages first and see how that goes. I believe that should help to relieve your pain somewhat, hopefully. Talk to your doctor about this. Good luck. Yes, I have heard about side effects of Methadone and I don't even want to be on it.
82861 tn?1333453911 One of the most common questions that pops up here is from people who have difficulty keeping the fentanyl patch in place. Lost and ruined patches can be a terrible problem for both the patient and the doctor. We all know early refills of any pain medication are problematic no matter what the reason. I have used the Nexcare brand bandages for years as covers for the fentanyl patch. They were the only bandages that kept the patch in place for the full 3 days.
Avatar m tn If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
Avatar n tn interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.
Avatar f tn I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
Avatar f tn So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working. I have heard that fentanyl tends to work a lot longer than longer acting opioids in pill form before effectiveness begins to wane. The options that your doctor will most likely present to you are, an increase in fentanyl (which will require wearing a couple of patches versus just one), an increase or change in breakthrough pain medication and/or an addition of a long acting medication in pill form.
Avatar n tn The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with switching methadone 95mg once daily, to fentanyl patch 100mcg Hour patch? or know the methadone mg fentanyl dose equivalents?
Avatar m tn Hey buddy! Congrats on your decision to taper down. I know fentanyl can be a handful. There's several members who has tapered quite successfully At 50mcg, my doctor wanted me to switch over to Oxycotin but insurance didn't allow it, which led to going cold turkey. I'll be passing your post to current and past fentanyl users! There's tons of support here!
Avatar f tn It is not like the original poster can just run to the local drug store and buy 3 fentanyl patches and slap them on. Now if the original poster decides to buy them off the street, well that is their perogative and whatever happens, happens at that point. It sounds as though the original poster is a compliant patient and will follow her doctor's orders regarding the switch from oxycontin to fentanyl.
1187071 tn?1279369698 I saw my pain doctor today and he put me on Fentanyl patch 25mgs every 72 hours. I have read all the papers on it and searched it on the internet. If there is any info on the patch that you don't read on the paperwork I was wondering if you could share. I put it on about a hour ago. My pharmacy gave me some things to go over the patch so it don't get wet, she said I can also buy them she gave me 2 of them.
7303500 tn?1389997641 Has anyone ever gone to rehab to be medically detoxed from fentanyl and oxycodone? I've been on pain meds for about two years now. I've only been on fentanyl for three months but I want off everything. I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I hate the way I feel. The fentanyl is making me depressed really bad. It also gives me anxiety. I have chronic pain but I think I would rather be in pain then deal with the way pain meds make me feel.
Avatar f tn I was going to suggest when I read this earlier that you do the fentanyl first and then go off of the percs. Fentanyl is very difficult to withdraw from and the percs may ease it a bit. I just think it would be much easier on you than to try and stop both at one time. This is just my opinion.
