Avatar f tn Hi Accelermom3, First I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are VERY glad that you have found this Forum. I need for you to understand that there are NO Doctors on this Forum. We are ALL CP - Chronic Pain - Patients that help each other with our OWN expertise and experiences from our personal CP Issues. I'm so sorry that you are going thru this with your Patches. I too use the Fentanyl Patches.
Avatar n tn I am using Alvogen 100 mcg patch x 4 (400 mcg total) every 48 hrs. I just switched from Duragesic brand name (I was getting these through Johnson & Johnson PAP now defunct as of 05/2020)to these this week. I noticed my kidneys were hurting right away. Has anyone had something similar happen?
1390350 tn?1279902967 I have had that problem when I was on Fentanyl. I was switched from my preferred brand to the gel kind (I did not like them at all and they did not provided 3 day relief) and I used medical tape around the outside of the patch to hold it on. It seemed to work for me. Call you doc and see what he says. Are you wanting to come off the patch or are you just having withdrawals because the patch isn't sticking? I am glad you are being careful with the patch.
725248 tn?1316162245 My pain doctor has not mentioned the patch yet, but the one thing I am getting tired of is waking up in the morning and being in so much pain I don't want to move, but it usually gets better after my oxycontin & oxycodone kick in. I too am a heavy sweater. Are they any other pro's or con's to the fentanyl patch?
Avatar f tn Sherry, it doesn't give the brand name of the Patch. I currently have the 25mcg gel filled patches that I filled at teh Pharmacy this week. How can I find this information?
Avatar f tn I have recently been on 25mcg Fentanyl Patches Watson Brand. They worked fine. When AI picked up my latest RX they were for Par Brand, My skin is swollen & red with severe itching. Is this from the brand change or is something else going on? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm also taking 7.5 mg Percocet three times daily. Thank You.
1638239 tn?1300404202 Just ask your Doctor to prescribe the Mylan Brand for you. They are the small ones with the Fentanyl IN THE ADHESIVE. Again, best of luck.........
1430434 tn?1317719331 Manufacturers (and most doctors) think generic works as effectively as the name brand. I personally have found that to be untrue with some things. In some cases, for me, brands make a difference. (Not with the Fentanyl patch for me but other things.) There's other things in these meds in addition to the narcotic. There's fillers and they vary from brand-to-brand. There could be something in the filler that causes you to feel differently than on a different brand.
Avatar f tn I am in the pharmacy program that pays for my patched until i get my DSS and I cannot find the brandname anywhere due to the new DEA guidelines on sched 2 narcotics. Any ideas? none of the pharmacies in my county or surrounding counties have the name brand and I can't afford to buy my own generic right now.Does anyone know of a generic equivalent patch that the drug company will give me for free?
Avatar m tn t give you a partial fill and put a refill on it for the rest - I was also on the patient assistance program so it had to be the brand name and not the generic) - anyway, they were able to find another of their locations that had both boxes and they were able to talk to the pharmacist at that location and have him set them aside for me after faxing them a copy of the script I had the hard copy for.
Avatar f tn I did talk to my PMP doctor about the patches falling off. He mentioned that he knew that they did, and mentioned that he's had issues with the one that are not name brand so when I come in on the 29th I'll get a fentanyl prescription that is the brand name.
Avatar n tn You could also ask your pharmacist to special order them. I live in Colorado and use the Watson brand fentanyl patches and they work really well for me. Good luck.
Avatar f tn There is no reservoir of medication in a matrix patch - instead there are layers of the medication. There is no fentanyl gel in a matrix style patch. A matrix fentanyl patch places the fentanyl in adhesive. By all means return the defective patch to the Pharmacy where you purchased it. As Phil said, contact your prescribing physician and make him/her aware of the defective patch. Be cautious when handling the defective patch as your body can still absorb the Fentanyl is you touch it.
535089 tn?1400673519 The pharmacy changed to the Mylan brand and I dont have the itching problem anymore.I personally feel the Mylan brand is not as effective though.
Avatar n tn I would suggest to research very high dose vitamin C. It may sound impossible, but here is one link with some info - http://www.doctoryourself.com/pain.
Avatar f tn I WAS WONDERING IF THE GENERIC OXYCONTIN IS AS GOOD AS THE BRAND NAME BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD ITS NOT. ALSO DOES THE 10MG GENERIC HAVE GEL TOO?
Avatar m tn I spoke with two pharmacists and they both told me that some people do not respond well to certain brand-name patches. He gave me a different brand (it's now day four) and, wah-lah: a great degree of relief! I still need a couple breakthrough percocets for times during the day when I have overdone it, but it's great not having to swallow those OxyContin, and waiting for them to work after the previous one has worn off, and also deal with the side effects.
Avatar n tn Dilaudid) is also an extremely difficult medication to taper down - even after short-term, daily use -in terms of the prolonged (weeks to months) and often times - unbearable withdrawal symptoms! If anyone has been on hyromorphone or Fentanyl & is considering discontinuing the meds, please do it under medical supervision! There are great mental & physical risks involved & if done incorrectly or too quickly, these drugs may cause organ damage e.g., heart, liver, kidneys, etc.
1176986 tn?1264917842 I thought they gave you whatt was in stock. Do you know the name of the brand that you speak of, the one with the resivoires? What do I say to the pharmacy? The problem that I've run into before was that if they don't have the one in stock that you need, they told me it was a week to get the one in that you need, so i've actually had to shop around to pharmacys. bacause obviously, I can't go a week without my medication.
1386676 tn?1280247305 Hello All I was wondering if anybody else out there has had any experiences of using fentanyl patches (especially uk durogesic and matrifen users that were previously on tilofyl or other brand gel based patches) that have had problems with withdrawal symptoms either from faulty patches, changeing to a different patch brand or changing over from oral morphine or other strong oral opioids like oxycodone, methadone, or dipipanone ? Which brand or type works best for you ?
Avatar f tn Hi Gracie, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. Our community is supportive and informational. I hope you'll be active on our forum. If you goggle medication conversion tables/charts you will find multiple ones that can answer your question. While one drug may be more potent mg per mg it depends on the dose prescribed of the particular medication and more importantly what is most effective for you.
Avatar n tn i went to the dr to day while i was in his office i was discussing fentanyl patches with another paitent. i told them that i have always had to buy overlays to keep them on. they said to use a blow dryer to heat them up first then put them on they would stick better, i asked wouldnt this be bad heating them up they replied not if you do it while it is not on your skin.
