1279189 tn?1275244868 Give yourself a couple weeks on the fentanyl and see how you do. You may, or may not, need to keep the vicodin on hand for breakthrough pain. Also, try to start the fentanyl on a weekend or other time where you have a couple of days that aren't so busy or require much driving. I went from norco (hydrocodone/vicodin) to the 25 mcg fentanyl patch. I felt a little odd and spacey for the first couple of days but after that I was fine. I think you will be fine too.
Avatar f tn Earlier I ran out of Vicodin (due to my own stupity) and was 4 days without. The withdrawl symptoms were in a word HORRIFIC. I saw my doc today and she put my on Fentanyl Transdermal System 12mcg/hr. Before I left the office she was kind enough to relieve my discomfort witha 10mg shot of morphine to cover the transition time. By the time I got the Rx filled an the patch on me ( that was about 4 hours ago ) most of the nice releive i got from the morphine was gone.
Avatar m tn re wearing the patch as needed. Because vicodin will stop the pain immediately and the fentanyl will keep it gone long after the vikes stop working, but thats a decision for your doctor, he may not want to do that because they don't like to give any one person different kinds of Narcotics at once. Any more questions that I might be able to help you with? Peace!
Avatar f tn t mix well maybe they could use fentanyl for the procedure and a day or two afterwards and then lower doseage and put you back on the sub?
Avatar n tn For God's sake, PLEASE see a doctor and/or a clinic specializing in pain management and narcotics withdrawal.
Avatar f tn You will be fine if they do not use any narcotic such as fentanyl and do not take any Vicodin or other such prescription from them. Versed and Propofol should work just fine for you. Suboxone will help you with pain after surgery, just take smaller doses more often.
Avatar f tn I've been on Fentanyl 100 ul for ten years, never increased the dose.start on 25 mg and was raised slowly.it's possible that you're not getting the needed relief because fentanyl is different than morphine,it's strength is much stronger and totally a different drug.synthetic, however, taking so many vicodin with tylenol can mess your liver.fentanyl slowly absorbs through the skin, must be rotated and maybe having a higher mg and less Vicodin would help.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have tapering since Sept 21, 2012 25mcg of Fentanyl Patch I was prescribed and on for almost 2 years. I went off the patch on Sept 21,2012, and am tapering with Vicodin ( 45 mg per day in DIVIDED doses over a 24 hour period) and 6 MG Xanax ( also in divided doses ) in a 24 hour period. Does ANYONE have experience about WHEN and HOW to taper off these " taper" meds?
Avatar f tn I'm withdrawing from both Vicodin and fentanyl patches at the same time. While I can deal with all the withdrawal symptoms themselves I can't deal with the pain. I got into some legal trouble and now my doctor won't prescribe any pain meds. I am in so much pain. How can I get any relief without opiates?????
Avatar m tn I went to my Doc. today and he wants me to start on Fentanyl. I tried this once before and i got very tired so i thought this is not going to work for me. If i remeber right they were 12mg patches. I also been on Vicodin ES, Percocet, MS Contin, Suboxone, Vicoprofen. I'm wondering if this is a drug that you can function on as far as work and also if 20mg patches are to strong to start out. I know i'm very tolerant to painmeds but have no real experience with Fentanyl.
Avatar n tn Doctor continues to ask me if I would start fentanyl therapy, which I have tried and only helps for 2 days and not 3 days which the dosage is set at.I have declined the fentanyl treatment and now DR. wants me to see surgeon for my cervical stenosis. My neck is only a part of my problems.I first started pain management for leg pain which still continues. What is your opinion about fentanyl, and also surgery on neck when their are multi-level problems causing same symptoms?
Avatar m tn Respiration problems happen with people who take more than prescribed (overdose) of ANY opiate. Those problems are not at all limited to the fentanyl patch and do happen with percocet and vicodin. Since you are opiate tolerant, you don't need to be concerned about it. Seriously, the amount of percocet you take in one day is roughly equivalent to the 25 mcg fentanyl patch. You reacted to 3 percocet because you overdosed in the strictest sense of the word.
Avatar m tn Any narcotic should, if possible, be slowly tapered as physical withdrawal is quite unpleasant. I did a fast taper that was not supervised by my doctor and it was less than ideal. Fentanyl can be a bit harder than Percocet, Vicodin, etc. Drinking lots of water is essential as it is really easy to get dehydrated. You can taper from the Fentanyl down and then cross over to a different immediate release narcotic and then taper down from that. Are you taking anything else?
Avatar f tn Pain doctor also nice to give me Norco 10 mg for breakthrough pain, even after my misusing it. My personality changes and anxiety and feelings of panic while on Fentanyl have scared me straight, and I want to get off of this as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn Who prescribed you fentanyl, and at what dose? You should not experience any withdrawals while on fentanyl. Have you taken this before? Can you get your p.c. physician prescribe the meds you need to be titrated off of all narcotics? I know some Dr's and physicians assistants which are seeing more and more offices are utilizing, they cannot write scripts for certain drugs depending on their schedule. You should see your Dr. For alt.
Avatar f tn I am currently weaning myself off of Vicodin and Fentanyl. I am down to 4 vics a day and I have been off the fentanyl for five days. I just went down to 4 a day today. It is a rough day but I am getting through. I have read many emails and I see that depression is a big factor with coming off of the drugs and while being on them. I am on 50mg of Zoloft to help me deal with the depression I have due to my pain. Should I get off that as well?
Avatar f tn Yes. But don't use both. Take the patch off, and just use the vicodin if that is the way you want to go. You can do it cold turkey though, and it won't get dragged out a long time. If you do the vicodin, only use it a couple of days and stop it. Otherwise, you have just switched, right? The Thomas Recipe on the health pages (top right of this page) has helpful info. There are things you can get OTC to help the WDs. Hot baths are great for aches and pains and muscle cramps.
Avatar f tn How to wean off Fentanyl patches and high doses of Vicodin? Anyone try Suboxone?
1182133 tn?1266851531 Now I think I need to stop the vicodin. Yest I went over 13 hrs no vicodin. Then tried to sleep and the RLS kicked in, so I took a vicodin and thought that'd help. The RLS went away but still didn't sleep.... Somebody rescue me from this HELL!!!!
Avatar m tn Please visit the health pages and look up the Thomas Recipie and stocdk up on Immodium AD.As for coming off Fentanyl....no fun.Been there, done that and I actually stopped opiate use after coming off the Fentanyl. So I continued taking my pills,at a lower dosage, whenn I took the patch off for the last time. Then I worked on the pills and getting them to a stable, manageable amount and not abusing them.It can be done.Coming CT off Fentanyl is not recommended.
Avatar f tn I was passing a kidney stone and the pain was too much to handle. It ended up being a 6 mm stone. I had used up all my Vicodin and I did not go see her for two days. She is very hard to talk with and has no compassion for her patients. I am sure she has been burned a lot. So I can’t say I don’t blame her. I should have called her and asked for more but I was afraid. I was still on my patch but it was not helping.
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, chronic bronchitis, COPD, hiatal hernia, GERD, restless leg syndrome, arthritic cervical spondylosis, alergies, ADD (my primary care dr says), but have never been diagnosed with it. It makes sense, however, as when in school and even now, I will be talking about one subject and will constantly go off on another completely different subject. My attention span is very short and always has been.
Avatar n tn Please, please, please do not use fentanyl for w/d. I detoxed from it and it is nooooo fun. It is very very addictive and just not a good idea to start it, especially for w/d from another drug.
Avatar n tn From when about 8 yrs ago, when my doctor suggested Fentanyl patches to augment the Vicodin, to years later when I was taking 1-100 and 1-75 Fentanyl patches every 3 days, 2-750 Vicodin every 6 hours, and I mg of xanex every 4 hrs . I reached a point when it was not the pain, but the dependency that led me to start taking the Fentanyl every 2 days, then every day. If I did not wear the patches, Spasms, seizures, and severe anxiety would set in.
Avatar f tn Will a urine test know what class 2 schedule drugs are being taken whether an oxy or vicodin? I have a script for 10 mg vicodin but ran out and friend let ke take a 5mg oxy for my pain till script coupd be refilled...i then took a urine test..both meds re a class 2 schedule so will the urine test know the difference?
Avatar f tn I have 15 vicodin left and one more patch (that I put on tomorrow). Starting about 3 weeks ago, when I realized the possibility that I would run out without help I started changing my patch every 3 days. I also have some muscle relaxers and sleeping pills (my doc gave them to me a while back but I didn't like them so they've been sitting untouched). I've been reading everything I can find on how to safely detox at home.
