Avatar f tn I've been seeing my pain dr for 21 years. I have multiple spinal issues and neuropathy pain, and a 4 level spinal fusion. I'm having a problem getting my latest prescription because of an insurance issue. Normally, I pat $4 for a 30 day supply, because I get a tier exception, but because of the new year, the tier exception didn't go through in time to get my new script. I applied my last patch on 1/5.
Avatar f tn Fentanyl is so strong that you may not have withdrawals from the Percocet. I just think it would be easier to withdraw from the fentanyl first and then the Percocet. Hopefully someone with more experience will offer some advice. I will check in later.
1279189 tn?1275244868 No, with fentanyl on board you will have no withdrawal symptoms from the vicodin. However, it takes two or three days for the fentanyl to reach a steady dosage in your bloodstream, so you may need to overlap with the vicodin a bit as your body gets used to the change. You will not get a "buzz" or as you put it, increased spike in energy from fentanyl that you experience with vicodin.
890735 tn?1261421725 Im going from 140 MG of percocet a day to 25 mc of Fentanyl every 72 hours... does this transition seem about right? I dont need anyone to tell me how addictive it is i know all about that, i just need to know if that transition is about right.
Avatar m tn Opiate is an adjective while opioid is a noun. Percocet is an opioid as is fentanyl. They are synthetic which means they are man made and not derived from a plant. Good job on getting off the Percocet!
Avatar f tn ll be going down to 50mcg of fentanyl next month. My question is, will I have withdrawls if I stop taking the Percocet and just stay on the fentanyl as we continue to lower that? Thanks so much for your help.
Avatar f tn I know I'm obviously dependent on the Percocet...I'm just trying to figure out where the real me went after 4 years, 10 surgeries and lots of pain medicine. I just want to be me again. I see a Pain a Specialist who I adore and we've talked about weaning me down off the Fentanyl Patch...I'm currently on 75mcg of Fentanyl that I change every 2 days and I take 10/325mg of Percocet 4x a day...
Avatar f tn Oh that is so good to hear. You give me hope. I would love any suggestions. Thank You!
Avatar f tn Im taking one percocet 10-325 wih three 300mg of gabapentin every 6hrs.Its not helping with chronic arthritis that has taken over my body, sciatica, carpal tunnel on both hands(had surgery on one already) restless leg syndrome. Also, had knee replacement on one leg(2 yrs ago) and have to get one on the other. What can i use instead? .. I've taken the highest mgs. of percocet and vicodin switching between both and weaning between both. And done that, did that on the cortisone shots.
Avatar n tn Again, Fentanyl is 100 x as strong as Morphine... NOT 81% and NOT 40%. Call the pharmacy if you'd like to verify this. You can get addicted to ANY Narcotic out there, from Vicodin to Percocet to Fentanyl....doesn't matter which one. And ALL will cause w/d if you use them to "get high" and then stop suddenly. It's not just the "Big Dogs" everyone.... Your body will develope a "TOLERANCE" to any Narcotic also.......and a Pain Dr.
11214965 tn?1416269155 The fentanyl patch is meant for people who have chronic pain and are tolerant to opioids. When the percocet stops working and you need multiple dose escalations, your doctor may suggest changing to a long-active / extended release opioid analgesic, like Duragesic. There's another problem with Percocet -- it contains tylenol, and too much tylenol can stress or even damage your liver.
Avatar f tn I stopped using them 11 days ago and switched to just Percocet and I then put myself on a three week tapering off plan. I plan to be narcotic free my September 15th!
Avatar f tn I did stop taking my percs at the same time and after 11 days I decided to go back on a low dose until I was over the Fentanyl withdrawals. Fentanyl withdrawals are long and drawn out and would suggest taking the percs until a month or two has gone by. I tried to come off percs a second time but mentally I am pretty bruised up from the Fentanyl withdrawals. I will stay the course for another week or two- getting ready for the fight- and then go CT off the percs.
Avatar n tn I currently take a BIG amount of fentanyl. Doc prescribed, and I want it off. However, removing a small 12 patch, I had a pretty ugly withdrawal Anyone used other techniques that were beneficial and did not leave you in a corner shaking and rocking in dt's?
Avatar m tn Respiration problems happen with people who take more than prescribed (overdose) of ANY opiate. Those problems are not at all limited to the fentanyl patch and do happen with percocet and vicodin. Since you are opiate tolerant, you don't need to be concerned about it. Seriously, the amount of percocet you take in one day is roughly equivalent to the 25 mcg fentanyl patch. You reacted to 3 percocet because you overdosed in the strictest sense of the word.
1588890 tn?1297073916 I have the 100mcg Fentanyl patch, moved up from th 25's a month ago, Percocet 10 for breakthru and Lyrica for my Fibro. I am trying to quit smoking and HATE that gum! Was thinking about the patch but was wondering if it was safe to have both on? Any suggestion?
Avatar f tn I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just joined this forum today. I was addicted to Percocet for about 6 months due to chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis. Needless to say it overcame me. I am 23 years old with a militiary background (until the pelvic pain and endometriosis got me kicked out) and I have a beautiful daughter and an amazing Army husband. I just wanted to let everyone know that there IS help out there.
Avatar f tn A week later and while on Percocet 10mg 4x a day and fentanyl 25mcg/hr I went into withdrawl so sever that I had to go to the ER and almost needed to be admitted do to my heart racing at 180bpm. Then hospital ran a UDT and found nothing in my system, so they stableized me on dilaudid, and said that I was in withdrawl. Then next day I went back to my doctor and got another UDT which is very specific and it showed that I had a 30x more norafentanyl which is the main metabolite of fentanyl.
Avatar f tn I got in a really bad car accident when I was 19, I broke my spine, really messed up my leg, mild traumatic brain injury the whole nine, and I have been on pain meds ever since (Nov. 13, 2007). I have been prescribed just about every narcotic pain med there is morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl, percocet, vicodin, etc.
Avatar f tn I have been cutting down on my meds and am having all day anxiety. I just cut down by a quarter of the 5mg percocet pill and today I have been nervous, restless and feel like there is a pit is my stomach. Can this small amount cause anxiety or could it be something else? I have not had problems with anxiety in the past- except when I CT off Fentanyl.
Avatar m tn Any narcotic should, if possible, be slowly tapered as physical withdrawal is quite unpleasant. I did a fast taper that was not supervised by my doctor and it was less than ideal. Fentanyl can be a bit harder than Percocet, Vicodin, etc. Drinking lots of water is essential as it is really easy to get dehydrated. You can taper from the Fentanyl down and then cross over to a different immediate release narcotic and then taper down from that. Are you taking anything else?
5410312 tn?1367531622 Diagnosed only after unsuccessful shoulder surgeries diagnosed as torn cuffs. I had been on norco for 3 years, and then percocet for the last 2 years. The constant IR made me feel like trying an ER product. My selerium was changed from patch to 20mg. oxycontin. I have been a huge mess ever since. Recommendations?
Avatar m tn The combo worked well for me for a while... now I am on Fentanyl and Oxycodone... sometimes it takes a change every so often to get the most out of the medications...
Avatar f tn My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!! By the way, when I stopped the Tramadol completely, I was taking the same amount as you per day. The amount of Fentanyl you are on is stronger than the starting dose of Morphine that I was on when I stopped taking Tramadol.
443878 tn?1205103196 My physician at that time discontinued the Oxycontin and Percocet cold turkey. Te next month of my life was pure hell and I believe I almost died. The resulting health issues were a kidney infection; bladder infection; UTI as well as severe dehydration with associative muscle cramping. My total weight loss was 60lbs. I am concerned with the possible and eventual withdrawal from the Fentanyl. Is the withdrawal as rough as Oxycontin?
Avatar m tn I was on the fentanyl patches 100mcg every two days, and percocts. I started with percocet 5mg 40 a mnth and quickly went to 240 percocet 10 mgs per month, then they introduced those patches to me and went from 50mcg to 100 mcg in 2 months.
