Does anyone get that? I also get the spasms in my legs but not so much as in my shoulders and neck. this is getting out of hand.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the info. I'm on opiods and sometimes have bad constipation...
Avatar f tn More like a contract not to accept opiates from anyone else. Fentanyl is a powerful drug and if your using the patch form it takes longer to get in and out of your system should you have complications with it.
Avatar n tn I am a low does of one 25 (micrograms or something or rather) fentanyl patch every three days, and a norcco prescription that I take a few times a week if I have worsened pain. Background: I had a trauma accident years ago, much emergency surgery, alot having to do with my abdomen and internal bleeding. However I am young and active and have recovered wonderfully over the years, besides the removal of my gullblader on another occasion.

If the Fentora is not controlling your pain adequately, the dose may need to be increased. But I don't think it's a good idea to mix it with Diphenhydramine.
Avatar n tn If you are experiencing those withdrawal symptoms now you should most likely bite that bullet and stop the fentanyl. Like worried said - your Doc can fix you up with some things to make it more comfortable. Fentanyl is a ferociuos withdrawal - but its not as long as methadone or sub or tramadol.........
Avatar n tn The worst was constipation and not being able to go for a week or more and getting sick so bad. I took many MANY different OTC and prescription meds to try and remedy the constipation but had no luck. Now that I am down to 25 I can go about every 3-5 days and am looking forward to being somewhat normal in this area as soon as I am off of this stuff.
Girl I've had chronic abdominal pain since having had a colectomy. I also have some scar tissue and have suffered with constipation for years. To help with constipation I've been taking huge amounts of magnesium oxide which caused swelling in my legs My doctor has suggested taking Miralax 3 times a day which I started last night. I took the second dose this morning and the pain has increased and changed considerably. Is this normal at the beginning?
1751415 tn?1315069443 Hello! I wanted to thank you for the information on Morphine. I neglected to mention that it was not the hospice nurse but the nurse from the nursing home. We will mention this. I know that they use a Fentanyl (hope I'm spelling it correctly) patch and morphine by mouth. They were giving him the patch with Vicodin but I guess because his pain was increasing they switched to Morphine. We are due to have a conference this week. Again, thank you!
Avatar f tn I used fentanyl patches for a year and had an extremely high tolerance for opiates, 1 100mcg/hr has about 10 mgs of fentanyl. Fentanyl is 40 times stronger than morphine. So in essence, chewing one 50 mcg/hr patch is about 5 mgs of fentanyl which is equivelant to 200 mgs of morphine. That's like doing 2 and a half 80s at once. What they're doing is dangerous, end of story, take it from some one that knows first hand. I'm not a dr.
Avatar f tn I have cancer and am on fentanyl patch and dilaudid plus Ocycontin for breakthrough pain. I have tried Senecot, Ducolace, stool softeners and Mira Lax. I had 2 brief episodes of diarrhea like excrement about 5 days ago but nothing since but some gas. Any ideas other than pharma drug? Next step I was going to try a suppository and then an enema.
Avatar f tn the shoulder pain went away, however, since then I have had chronic constipation, and my BMs are sometimes less than once a week. Before the adjustment it was twice a day. Whenever I do have the urge to go, I literally have to cross my legs or contort my body to even release the smallest amount of feces. I strain and strain, but nothing happens. I can't even feel it most of the time, and I never have pain in my lower abdomen, like you would normally if you were constipated.
Avatar f tn The side effects are the ones that are common to most strong narcotics. They will include constipation so you should eat lots of fiber and yogurt while on the patch. Of course everyone is different so beware of driving as you may tend to nod off while at the wheel. Some will get a euphoric feeling (high) and some will just get sleepy -- Can't think of anymore at the present. All the best.
Avatar m tn every 12 hours or switch to the fentanyl patch. I decided to try the fentanyl patch since I heard great things about it and I am glad that I did. I was having severe constipation issues that were ridiculous!! I was experiencing severe bloating, cramps, chest pain, and difficulty breathing. I tried fiber supplements, stool softners, miralax, gasx, milk of magnesia and none of them worked.
Avatar f tn s causing the malabsorption so you are able to get your pain medication to work effectively you may want to try the fentanyl patch which does not have anything to do with the intestinal balance as it goes through the bloodstream they have a very low dose and only 25 mcg/h that way your intestines will not rot ulcers with the pill just sitting there backed up with your constipation it may be something you want to try the fentanyl patch does not offer highs and lows so no one will get high off of
Avatar f tn I used to put patches on my shoulders an it was ok, now since I've lost some weight it seems patches will only work when I put them on sides of my chest even when I put them I front of chest it doesn't work and also why can't you overlap where you put last patch like take one off and put new one in same place cause when I do it works very well for pain, and I definitely start feeling withdrawal from fentanyal when I put them anywhere but my sides I'm assuming my core temperature i
Avatar m tn s are VERY mild this time around! I was really expecting to go to hell and back with this fentanyl withdrawal but so far it has been 10x easier than my oxy withdrawals I went through last year. Anyone have any theories why my w/d this time around has not been nearly as bad as last time? I have been dependent for about 4 months this time around, using mainly oxy/dilaudid/fentanyl but I havent had oxy in awhile mainly just fentanyl and dilaudid.
1279189 tn?1275244868 No, with fentanyl on board you will have no withdrawal symptoms from the vicodin. However, it takes two or three days for the fentanyl to reach a steady dosage in your bloodstream, so you may need to overlap with the vicodin a bit as your body gets used to the change. You will not get a "buzz" or as you put it, increased spike in energy from fentanyl that you experience with vicodin.
Avatar f tn Then a couple friends showed up and gave me a few fentanyl pills. The subs blocked most of that but I feel ok. I have to work again in 8 hrs. I have about 6 more pills of fentanyl. I know if I use them I'll get through work but I don't want to start a fentanyl addiction.i was wondering if I take subs instead if I'll just get sick again or if they'll help now. I need to work or I'll lose my car. That's the only reason I'm considering taking the fentanyl tomorrow.
1390687 tn?1281157239 How much of each were you on and for how long? The fentanyl withdrawal will probably be the worst... I had the roughest time with the fentanyl... and no withdrawals from the percocet/oxycodone... it all depends on the person and amount and how long the person has been using,.. good luck.
Avatar f tn Both are opioid analgesics, meaning they have a high affinity to the opioid receptor in the nervous system that reduces pain, respiration, constricts the pupil of the eye, causes constipation, and all other side-effects associated with opioid medications. The reason why different opioids are more or less effective in treating pain is due to how well that individual metabolizes and responds to those metabolites.
