586247 tn?1255907790 I have had 5 major spine surgries in the past year. It turns out after being fused from my neck bone to my tail bone they are considered failed surgries. I had to have a implanted pain pump for my legs do to nerve damage that will never get better. I got an infection my painpump site got large as a watermelon , they did major surgery I was in the hospital for over a week came home with in house nursing.
Avatar f tn used for this procedure. Other injectables may have included fentanyl (an opioid with a half life of 20 minutes), and perhaps propofol (again, short acting sedative medication), however, propofol is being used less and less in this type of procedure. The local anesthetic used at the injection site is usually a combination of bupivacaine (Marcaine) and a small fraction of epinephrine to constrict blood vessels to minimize bleeding or absorption of anesthetic.
Avatar f tn Hi julie1224, I'm so glad that your Doctor took the x-rays but I know that you are frustrated that they didn't find an answer to your problems. :( I don't have any information about a "new" patch that is similar to Vicodin that is out. I couldn't find anything when I googled it. You might call your Pharmacist and ask him/her about it as they are up-to-date on every new med that is coming out. Did your doctor tell you what the name of the "new" patch is?
Avatar m tn The doctor says I have RSD and has explained this disorder to me, telling me that it may never go away and may get worse. Is there a better treatment than just opiates and Lyrica?
Avatar m tn s are VERY mild this time around! I was really expecting to go to hell and back with this fentanyl withdrawal but so far it has been 10x easier than my oxy withdrawals I went through last year. Anyone have any theories why my w/d this time around has not been nearly as bad as last time? I have been dependent for about 4 months this time around, using mainly oxy/dilaudid/fentanyl but I havent had oxy in awhile mainly just fentanyl and dilaudid.
1279189 tn?1275244868 No, with fentanyl on board you will have no withdrawal symptoms from the vicodin. However, it takes two or three days for the fentanyl to reach a steady dosage in your bloodstream, so you may need to overlap with the vicodin a bit as your body gets used to the change. You will not get a "buzz" or as you put it, increased spike in energy from fentanyl that you experience with vicodin.
Avatar f tn Then a couple friends showed up and gave me a few fentanyl pills. The subs blocked most of that but I feel ok. I have to work again in 8 hrs. I have about 6 more pills of fentanyl. I know if I use them I'll get through work but I don't want to start a fentanyl addiction.i was wondering if I take subs instead if I'll just get sick again or if they'll help now. I need to work or I'll lose my car. That's the only reason I'm considering taking the fentanyl tomorrow.
1390687 tn?1281157239 How much of each were you on and for how long? The fentanyl withdrawal will probably be the worst... I had the roughest time with the fentanyl... and no withdrawals from the percocet/oxycodone... it all depends on the person and amount and how long the person has been using,.. good luck.
Avatar m tn My wife has been perscribed fentanyl patches and has been told not to eat grapefruit, does this apply to all citrus fruit ie.
1588890 tn?1297073916 s a month ago, Percocet 10 for breakthru and Lyrica for my Fibro. I am trying to quit smoking and HATE that gum! Was thinking about the patch but was wondering if it was safe to have both on? Any suggestion?
7157762 tn?1390862911 ve stopped taking my percs and taken off my last dose of Fentanyl patches. Wanted to thank all the folks here especially Ms. H who has supported me throughout this bumpy ride. My cold turkey wasn't completely planned. A friend of mine and I planned to jump together but things always seem to come up for us both. Less than a month ago, I went to my pain management doc for yet another refill. I opened up to my doc and issued my wish to be off the patches.
Avatar n tn I have been on Fentanyl patches for about 6 months and it was prescribed to wean me off of Norco 10/325 2 pills 4 x day after a surgery. I got as high as 75 mcg patch of Fentanyl every 3 days and then I developed some kind of allergy. The Pain Dr. says the allergy is to the adhesive, not the fentanyl. I am now down to 37 mcg every 2 days because the patches itch like crazy. I wake up in the morning and my patches are scratched off(even withTagederm) and there is blood on my sheets. My Dr.
Avatar f tn You need to taper on fentanyl. So basically you are on 100 mcgs. Your doctor will cut it down each month when you get your prescription. So maybe 75 next month, then 50, 25, 12.5. Are however your dr wants to to do. Fentanyl withdrawal is not fun. So I would say go slow. How much Percocet do you take? You may want to keep that to help you as you lessen the fentanyl. Then when fentanyl is finally done, you can do what is needed wor the Percocet. Do you know when you next surgery will be?
Avatar f tn I've been on Fentanyl 50 patch and sublingual fentanyl 600micg ( A bit like the Actiq Lollys)10 times a day for 3 years for pain as a result of Cancer and treatment. I now want to come off it by reducing the sublingual fentanyl(Actiq Lollys) first. I am now down to 4 a day over 3 weeks but have suffered sweats ,diarrhoea and anxiety in the process. My Drs supporting me but am I going too quickly ? if I go slower will there be less side effects or will I get the withdrawal symptoms any way?
5135507 tn?1367163227 Fentanyl is a good drug to treat pain for terminally ill patients , or ppl who need 24 hour pain relief. But drs are passing this drug out to patients who don't need it or they keep increasing the dosage until its almost impossible to get off of it when the time comes. I know, it happened to me. Then wnen the dr was fired after I was on it for 5 yrs, I was basically screwed.
306867 tn?1299249709 Mary, Their is a rule of thumb for gallbladder disease. the 3 F's. Female, fat and forty. Gallbladder disease of course affects more than just those mentioned and of course I don't like the 3 F's. If GB disease and addiction were connected, their would be many forty something overwheight women at the pharmacy or waiting for their dealer to call them.
Avatar n tn Hi Allana, I am a nurse and also suffer from GI issues. I can tell you they usually use medications named Versed (which is an amnesic and makes you sleepy and not remember the procedure) and Fentanyl (an IV pain medication). These two drugs together produce the sedation for the procedure and you will be comfortable. Most people don't remember the procedure at all.
Avatar f tn I had an ostomy during my first pregnancy and had an extremely healthy pregnancy and daughter thank Gd and I really hope to be blessed with another healthy child and pregnancy....thx so much for advice!
Avatar f tn I have been in pain management for over 15 years and on 40mg of methadone. Dr. thought it was affecting my heart so he switched me to dilaudid 4mg every 8 hours. 2 days later I was in full blown withdrawels. After about 3 weeks I began to think I might live, Dr. kept telling me I shouldn't be having withdrawels. The dilaudid only lasted 2-3 hours, if I waited 8 hours I was hurting so bad the medicine was'nt doing me any good, besides it just was'nt enough. Next visit Dr.
