Avatar n tn i have been on oxycontin 40mg for six monthes it wasnt releaving any pain so my doc put me on oral morphine and fentanyl patches and the transition was horrible so i know what your goin through please hang in there it will get better.
Avatar m tn My story is long and complex. I'm on fentanyl for degerative disc disease. I was forced off methadone after taking 50mg/day for 3 years. I tapered down over 2months to 30mg/daythenquit it when put on the Fentanyl. I immediately started getting sick.Absoluely no help from Dr. Was also taking 15mg5x aDay of Roxicet and forced to go cold turkey. Since July I've been taking around 30mg day of ambien and 10mg of methadone twice a week to help with withdrawls.
Avatar m tn I can't thank all of you enough for your help! I've been on the 12mcg patch down from 25 for about a week now and have been going through all of the things mentioned in this thread. I honestly was thinking that this was all in my head! Waking up flipping and flopping all around the bed because I can't get comfortable.
Avatar f tn s not so bad when your first on it but after about 6 months your on a downward slope. You will build up tolerance quickly and need more and more and more for it to work. Not to mention once your tolerance increases you start having withdrawals before you change your next patch. You heart races, you lose your hair, your depressed, have anxiety, your tired, lose the ability to enjoy life. Just to name a few things.
Avatar f tn I am about to detox from 3 months of a littlebit of fentanyl and oxycontin. I have flexural, ambien, and diazepam. Will these help or is there anything else that will? Thank you very much. Your input is apprechiatted. I know I have a problem and I am getting help after detox.
6815927 tn?1395511425 I went to my PCP today about getting off the fentanyl (200 ug / 2 days) and oxycodone (120 mg twice / day for BT pain). She was very supportive -- maybe too supportive?!? She decreased my fentanyl to 175 every 2 days but left the oxy as is--she said I may need it for extra pain. She also prescribed clonidine 1-2 mg 2x day as needed at my request as well as ambien for sleep. I also asked for gabepentin to help with pain but she didn't want too many variables at one time.
Avatar m tn First off, congratulations on beayting throat cancer. My uncle and aunt both did and it's not easy. Fentanyl was probably a good med for you while going through that. Around here you don't hear anything about the Actiq. You also don't hear much about Fentanyl being used recreationally, though it happens rarely. I was given the Fentanyl patch after about 6/7 surgeries on my hand and winding up with rsd, nerve pain and more.
1855076 tn?1337115303 t think it does much,) and ibuprofen as well as a couple of prescription ointments and gels, and high doses of ibuprofen. I also use ice and heat. I get cortisone injections in my knees. None of this comes close to helping alleviate my pain. The PM doctor will prescribe me oxycodone for a few days when the pain is seriously making me lose my mind. I think we've all been there with that idea that crosses your mind that this just isn't worth it.
516810 tn?1211590206 For the past year I have been taking 75 mcg fentanyl patches every three days.I need and want to stop and get back to living a clean FUN life.I don't get them by prescription so I can not goto a dr to taper off.I have tried on my own and it was total HELL! The thought of those feelings again scares me to death.I read about Suboxone and wonder if someone here can tell me how it worked for them. Also money wise how much did it run?
Avatar m tn Now, several days later, I have reduced the intake of the hydrocodone in the last two days from the 45 mg to 15 mg as the pain hs been subsiding. I brought the ambien back upto 10 mg and I still can barely sleep and again that is partly due to the sling, but i only fall asleep for 2 - 3 hours and then i'm awake again. I feel like a zombie during the day and not tired enough at night. Then, i become anxious that i'm not sleeping.
271872 tn?1238590391 he did not give this to u because he thought u were crazy! a side effect is drowsiness/and it is for real! i may woulda tried sumpin milder like ambien or lunesta first...even valerian root/elavil/sumpin not so potent..if it is not time released u can break it up into small pieces..but it should definitely work for sleep..
Avatar f tn I have been in pain management for over 15 years and on 40mg of methadone. Dr. thought it was affecting my heart so he switched me to dilaudid 4mg every 8 hours. 2 days later I was in full blown withdrawels. After about 3 weeks I began to think I might live, Dr. kept telling me I shouldn't be having withdrawels. The dilaudid only lasted 2-3 hours, if I waited 8 hours I was hurting so bad the medicine was'nt doing me any good, besides it just was'nt enough. Next visit Dr.
Avatar m tn I now have great pain in both areas. I do not know what to do. I am on fentanyl at 50 mcg every three days and about 4 percocets per day for break out pain. Really this does not stop my pain so I am at the point of thinking after a couple of years of being on oxy and now this to just get off it all. I am very scared that I am addicted. Since I am going to have a lot of pain either way I am wondering if I should just try and come off it all ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I DESPERATELY WANNA GET PREGNANT AND THEREFORE, NEED TO WEAN OFF ALL MY MEDS... I NEED HELP TO WEAN OFF... I AM CURRENTLY TAKING DEPAKOTE 500MG, LEXAPRO 20MG/DAY, TRAZADONE 300MG @NIGHT, AMBIEN 10MG (WHICH I'VE STARTED SPLITTING IN 1/2). NEURONTIN 600MG 4X A DAY... I ALSO TAKE ROBAXIN & BACLOFEN ALMOST EVERY DAY... FENTANYL PATCH 12 MCG/DAY (WHICH I MAY NEED TO GO INPATIENT FOR. SO I'M MORE CONCERNED WITH THE PSYCH MEDS) THANK YOU IN ADVANCE...
Avatar m tn My guess would be it is the withdrawal of the Fentanyl. You must have really gradually reduced your dosage. Your symptoms sound uncomfortable but not terribly unbearable and I know people who went off it CT and it was very, very unpleasant. For sleep, try Alteril, it's an all-natural product and it contains Valerian Root and melatonin and some other all natural ingredients. Valerian Root can also be taken separately if you're having anxiety. They work great.
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
Avatar f tn 10mg 6 times a day and Soma 4 times a day...I was on Fentanyl and Morphine also but quit those cold Turkey Saturday...I have Severe Panic Attacks at night..Paralyzing..that turns into Severe Depression during the day...Is this normal for Withdrawal?...I don't mind the physical aspects...it's the Anxiety and Depression that are terrifying me. Even though I've been prescribed these pain pills for a fractured back...I just don't want to be on them.
1568041 tn?1311615212 Does she think it's an issue? Personally,I think Ambien is a dangerous drug to be taking all the time. But,if she can't sleep and hasn't increased her dose for a year, then this is her lifestyle. I don't agree with it either but I know insomnia can be just horrible. There are other things she can take. If she wants to try it, suggest Melatonin and Valerian root. It's safe and it works for a lot of people. However, anyone on SSRI's should avoid Melatonin.
3112530 tn?1434032033 Down to 108 pounds and all the doctors could do was cut my morphine dose etc. After finding out how the fentanyl and all the drugs were affecting me, my pancreas reacted and my intestines were causing problems so I had to stop cold turkey. My point is that this is NO SUPPORT from the medical community about this and this is horrible!
Avatar f tn Hello mom and welcome. Heroin and ambien are both central nervous system depressants. Taken together it is very dangerous as they both depress the respiratory and central nervous system. How old is your son? Does he live with you? How long has he been Abusing drugs for?
Avatar f tn At least 6-7 years at a pop and can stop it with very mild consequences. Some lack of sleep and maybe some headaches and neck/back pain but really nothing. Try OTC Advil pm or something maybe.
Avatar n tn She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was put on fentanyl patch before they had generic ones. 2003 & Diluadid for break thru. I have liver disease non alch non reversible. So that combo of meds is best for me. My doctor did as appropriately moved me up to 50 mch then 75 & 100 strength patches as needed then back down so tolerance would work well. I was able to do some gardening & start working out at gym as year went by. Lost 118pds :-) We then moved to FL.
Avatar m tn The following drugs are all i take, No more and no less. Fentanyl 50mcg. Tylenol3, Tylenol, Norflex, Ambien,Seroquel, Cymbalta, Ibuprofen and Naproxen. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Avatar f tn My body is addicted to many prescription drugs. My pain started about 4 years ago after I had a nervous breakdown and tried really hard to overdose. I obviously have a high tolerance for medications of any kind. Since then, I have chronic everything it seems. Depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, PTSD, fibro, arthritis of an elderly person and I'm only 37. If "itis" is at the end of the word, I have it. Tendonitis and bursitis in both knees and shoulders.
Avatar m tn s are VERY mild this time around! I was really expecting to go to hell and back with this fentanyl withdrawal but so far it has been 10x easier than my oxy withdrawals I went through last year. Anyone have any theories why my w/d this time around has not been nearly as bad as last time? I have been dependent for about 4 months this time around, using mainly oxy/dilaudid/fentanyl but I havent had oxy in awhile mainly just fentanyl and dilaudid.
