femara

Avatar f tn how long is a typical cycle of femara (2.5mg)? what are the success rates with this in infertility? This discussion is related to Femara 2.5 mg.
509981 tn?1210965313 Hi. I understand your concern. When my doc first prescribed this, I of course went to the internet for info since she didn't provide any and I came across a lot of information about birth defects. Like Tina said, it gets processed very quickly by your body and will not still be around when implantation occurs. I was sure to monitor my temps and also use HPT's to make sure I definitely wasn't pregnant before starting another round.
560813 tn?1281606868 I have been TTC for 23 months, been seeing an infertility specialist for the last 10 months, have been on Clomid, Femara - and this cycle Femara and Novarel - since February (10 months). I have had 2 miscarriages in the last 6 1/2 months. Here's my problem: I have one friend who gave birth this week to her first child and I have NO DESIRE to see her, be around her or even hear anything about the baby.
Avatar f tn I just finished my 5th cycle of clomid (waiting for af to show..got negative beta on Wed.). My lining was so thin last cycle (4.2 on day of trigger) that my RE took me off the clomid. I asked about doing femara for this next cycle but she doesn't use it in her practice anymore because she had low success rates with it.
Avatar f tn I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?

Avatar n tn Hi been ttc for 18 month with no luck every ovulation test i have done in 3 months have been negative i am getting tested for endometriosis
Avatar f tn I am just wondering if anyone has taken Femara to try and get pregnant. I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.
Avatar n tn i had good results the 1st round on femara. ended in missed miscarriage, so we tryed again this month and not baby, but rd 2 starts in 2 days. just a thought you may want to ask your re about femara 2.
374593 tn?1257879950 t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was wondering what the medical explanation was for why fertility drugs cause cysts? If you do get a cysts at the end of a cycle, does that mean you never had a chance of getting pg from that cycle? Is there anything a person can do to prevent the cysts? I did several cycles of Clomid with no cysts; then one cycle of Femara that produced 2 cysts. Now I'm ending another cycle of Femara and believe that I have cysts again.
1626928 tn?1378850167 HI, Letrozole is many times effective in women who show no response to clomiphene. Also the metformin will help in normalizing hormones in women with PCOS. If there are no results with letrozole then help with gonodatropins may be necessary. Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Femara is a drug which is very effective fertility treatment for women with ovulation problems, or for those with unexplained infertility. It causes increase in the output of FSH and has also been used as an alternative to clomiphene. The chances of conceiving are improved if no other fertility issues are present, the female partner is under 35 years old and a woman who was not ovulating starts ovulating. Do consult your attending doctor for more queries and suggestions.
1019279 tn?1252587122 IIf you do have unexplained infertility it doesn't mean that you can't have a baby. I have unexplained infertility, all tests point to healthy eggs, ovaries, and I ovulate. Are you seeing an RE? I went to a gyno for 11 months and he had me on Femara. I went to an RE and was pregnant within 3 months, he increased my doesage and ordered a trigger with timed BD. Have you had an HSG?
Avatar f tn So I am on Femara now and doctor also told me to use the OPKs, BBT seems to be a little inaccurate especially with alot of us lacking sleep. He said my most fertile days are as soon as I get the positive, and the day after- thats it. If I do not ovulate this cycle, come back and see him. So thats good news. Has anyone taken Femara? Any side effects?
950954 tn?1271210887 I hope by now you've gotten your results and that they were positive.... I had no idea that Clomid could actually cause multiple births...but what do you mean by overstimulate ovaries? Like you, I'm also the first to be experiencing this infertility issue in my family...I just recently found out that a good friend of ours was also having a hard time conceiving b/c she was diagnosed with PCOS and after taking Metformin and getting off of it for awhile...she got her BFP..
Avatar f tn If I choose this route, then on CD2 I would get bloodwork done and start the Femara. Then on CD12 I would go in for an u/s to look at my follies. I would get a trigger shot and we would be doing timed BD. This option is a lot more time consuming and expensive as I would have to pay for all the follow up visits after the initial bloodwork. But doesn't give me any greater odds then using the Clomid.
Avatar f tn Thanks yall ! I have not been to my obgyn in over a year ! My husband & I have been down the clomid and iui route before with no success ! I did get pg about 6 yrs ago without anything and ended in a mc at 5 wks. I've just hoped and prayed that it would happen again without using anything but nothing so far ! So I guess it's about time I get back on the ban wagon if I plan on having any kiddos since I'll be 32 next month !! Guess I'll be making myself an appt.
Avatar n tn Is femara really so much worse than clomid? I am doing my infertility work up now and will be going on clomid cycle after next and I have heard so many awful things about the fact that clomid gives you all of these side effects and does famara do the same thing without the side effects?
Avatar f tn A few studies have suggested that Femara may be effective in cases in which women have not ovulated while taking Clomid (these women are said to be "Clomid-resistant" or "clomiphene-resistant"). There is some thought that Femara may be less likely to cause negative effects on cervical mucus and the thickness of the uterine lining, compared to Clomid.
Avatar f tn Yes you can. I'm 23yr dx when I was 17 and am now finally pregnant with our first. Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction.
1272624 tn?1395434357 I used it for 6 days but at around 225/300 units per day. You had mentioned that you might be doing 400 which is high. These pens are super expensive. They are about $1000- each.
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
413852 tn?1317308712 Your OBGYN is right. Mine also had me use Femara for 4 cycles to try to increase our chances since I am in the dreaded "unexplained" category. It worked great for me, I O'd consistently, and had minimal side effects (just headaches and hot flashes here and there). We didn't end up with our BFP, but I have seen a lot of women who have with the Femara. Here are two information packets on it.
Avatar f tn It was actually my General Practioner that wrote me the Rx for Clomid (so I wouldn't have to wait another cycle before I got to my OB/GYN). She knew that I was very informed and that I was using it specifically to create superovulation. As I said, until the s/a I am working under the impression he has poor swimmers, so was just trying to create more targets. We know there are some swimmers as I got a BFP last year, only to m/c.
Avatar f tn m still in for this cycle? I forgot to put my temp in from Saturday and yesterday but I will update when i get home :-). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
1287560 tn?1272216521 I had an HSG done and all tubes were clear. I was then put on letrozole (femara) days 3-7. Went in on day 14 for an u/s and had a follicle measuring 17.5mm. Did OPK for a few days and got my +. Went in the following day and had IUI. I am now 12.5 weeks pg with TWINS! Letrozole is a drug for breast cancer and is not FDA approved for infertility. If you are still seeing your OB and not a RE, that could be the reason for concern writing you a RX for it.
398038 tn?1247857003 In this way it actually reduces the level of estrogen and like clomid this induces a cascade of events that lead to ovulation. This is why femara works better in some people than clomid does (maybe in people resistant to clomid the drug does not bind the receptor very well and hence the clomid does not induce ovulation as it should). Clomid also has a very long half life, so that if you take it one month some of it is still around the next month and so on. This can lead to a thin lining.
