257175 tn?1204161973 I am currently in my 2ww......but if this does not work it will have been my 6th cycle of clomid. Are there any alternative's to clomid that will induce ovulation? I do not ovulate on my own so I will need some type of medication. I do not mean to sound negitive, I just want to be prepared if this one does not work. Thanks girls!
Avatar f tn Um if your ttc you dont want to be on birth control there is a med called provera to induce a period and femara or clomid to induce ovulation your dr isnt helping you out if you were not trying then birth control would be the way to go ask a different dr about provera and femara or clomid
992128 tn?1364371742 I tried it since I had vision problems with clomid. Only side effect I had was breast tenderness. I still didn't ovulate but I did grow follicles - my next treatment cycle, my RE will have me take femara plus injections, then a trigger shot to induce ovulation. I think I'm in the minority when it comes to not ovulating on clomid or femara alone though, because almost everyone else I've heard that took either at least ovulated with it. I hope it works for you!
284773 tn?1207757759 This is also used to treat breast cancer and to induce ovulation in fertility patients instead of clomid. I read many scientific articles regarding femara before I decided to try it. It does work and worked for me on the first cycle. I know others who it also worked for. If you are looking for an alternative to clomid it is something you may want to investigate bfore moving on to injectibles. It works in a different way than clomid and therefore may work even if clomid did not.
Avatar f tn I have never taken clomid only femara but I am guessing if you respond to clomid you also would to femara even though they work differently (clomid binds to estrogen receptors whereas femara inhibits the enzyme which actually produces estrogen) Regardless your body recognizes when estrogen is low and starts pumping out fsh to make the follies and that is what is impt. With your thin lining I would definitely bring it up, as femara should not do this.
398038 tn?1247857003 Hey my case is similiar to yours I am on my first cycle of femara and took provera to induce my period i would love to hear what happened with you since now I am on CD16 and still no O did anyone experience late Ovualtion?
Avatar n tn I agree with Tina...
Avatar n tn You need to use methods to pinpoint ovulation. Now this can be difficult, especially with PCOS but many women manage it and conceive successfully. You can do this by charting your BBT (basil body temperature) and using OPKs (ovulation predictor kits) to see you're in your fertile window. You shoud also be having sex every other day leading to ovulation, and for a few days after.
Avatar n tn I took my last Femara pill on October 18. I bought some ovulation predictor tests from the Dollar Tree and took the first on October 20th. I was positive but I wondered if the Femara caused a false positive so I took another the next day and it was negative. I tested today and there was one line but it was so faint I could barely see it. Should I have gone with another brand?
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that you do have PCOS and if you take a medication such as Clomid or Femara to help induce ovulation your chances of conceiving are going to be much better. Provera will induce a period but will not induce ovulation which is what you need to become pregnant. I would suggest that you see a reproductive endocrinologist to help get you started on some better medications. Metformin might be a good idea too in conjunction with the Clomid/or/Femara.
325477 tn?1250551309 It seems that a lot of people these days (myself included) are moved to Femara when they don't respond to Clomid. It's basically the same type of pill since it tricks your body into making more estrogen to cause ovulation, but it works in a different way. There have been a lot of posts about it recently. I think moving to injectibles is another option too, but I'm not familiar with those. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on that for you. Good luck!
Avatar n tn You could take a progesterone to induce a period, but what you really want is something to induce ovulation, and I have had better luck with Femara than with Clomid which is the old standard therapy. You should have your thyroid and prolactin levels tested too if you haven't already. You certainly haven't ruined your chances forever! How did your eating disorder fare while you were pregnant?
Avatar f tn ing on your own, you might want to try Clomid or Femara, which are both medications taken during the first part of your cycle to induce ovulation. Both medicines are similar in that they trick your body into producing more estrogen, which then leads to more and better quality follicles/eggs. Clomid seems to have more side effects (moodiness, ovarian hyperstimulation, reduction of cervical mucus, and thinning of uterine lining) than Femara.
Avatar f tn I am taking 2000mg of metformin and I have been on it for almost 7 months now and last month my doctor started me on provera to induce a period because I haven't one since September of last year and I finally had one in August and come October my gynecologist is putting me on ovulation medication so that me and my boyfriend can try and have a baby. I'm excited about this because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and and this isn't curable it's only treatable with medication.
1767573 tn?1313710908 but if uv been on BC for so long ur body may take a some time to return back to its normal status.
366262 tn?1360031596 my dr put me on femara from cd 3-7. im now on cd 15. my dr told me to bd cd 14-18. so if i bd on cd 13,14 is that too soon? i am suppose to o on cd 17. i think. any input would be great.
Avatar f tn Some women respond better to clomid and others to Femara. You should talk to your doctor about checking your 21 day progesterone this cycle. Part of the importance of this is not only to ensure you are ovulating, but the progesterone will indicate if it was a strong ovulation. Higher levels of 21 progesterone can indicate a better chance of pregnancy success.
Avatar f tn My friend is trying to conceive and she is taking profertil.female .Have any body had any success with this treatment?
406631 tn?1201892087 However if your periods are regular even without femara, then your chances of getting pregnant might be improved if intrauterine insemination is added to your treatment. Regarding urine ovulation prediction, if the femara is going to work to get you to ovulate, your ovulation is most likely to happen 7-10 days after your last femara.
Avatar f tn Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?
Avatar f tn TTC For Almost A Year Officially-This Cycle Started provera To Induce Period And Clomid Days 5-9 To Induce Ovulation. I'm Just Looking Specifically For Answers OR Thoughts Or Advice related To My Specific Questions And concerns. My Husband And I BD On CD 12, 14, 16 And 17 But He Had To Go Out Of Town Suddenly And We Couldn't Anymore.
Avatar f tn The worst part is not knowing if there is something else wrong. I know I need to be patient but will the femara work to induce ovulation? If so when???? Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn My LH and progesterone showed no ovulation occurred and that it is not about to occur. My E2 level was 91. Is that high or low for being in the middle of a medicated cycle?? (Follies were growing very slowly and lining was still only 6mm on cd18) We are scrapping this cycle since the dominant follie was not looking good anyways(irregular ugly border) but I am just wondering what that E2 level means in the middle of a cycle???? Where should it be???
Avatar f tn i would talk to your Dr. they can order progestrone test around CD21 to see if you ovulate that month. If you are not you can talk to them about trying clomid and a fertility specialist.
Avatar f tn I have been TTC for 3 years and took Clomid for 6 months and just found out my FSH levels are a little too high (should be about 10 or less for someone my age, 29, and my FSH is about 13.5). I am just starting Femara at 5 mg on day 3-7 and am trying to get a positive ovulation test right now. I am on day 16 and although the line was darker today, it wasn't dark enough. I have read on here that sometimes it takes until day 16 or 17 so I am hoping it is positive tomorrow.
Avatar n tn Is there anything else I can do to induce ovulation under the correct timing? Do I need progesterone, vitex or ovulex? Should I be going to an endocrinologist? Please any information would be helpful. Thank you.
