Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?

I am doing my infertility work up now and will be going on clomid cycle after next and I have heard so many awful things about the fact that clomid gives you all of these side effects and does famara do the same thing without the side effects?

5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.

m on my third round of femara, and had no side effects the first month, but the second and third cycle, I did have a headache on and off for a couple of days. No tummy aches or breaking out, though. BUT, since you took such a high dose all at once, it wouldn't surprise me if the stimulation of the ovaries is causing some crampiness. Like dnikki said, you could always call your doctor and check. I first wanted to know about side effects. Second I was reading that this particular drug is not recommended as it could cause some sort of pregnancy issue. Wasn't sure about if that was fact or myth. Any input is appreciated.

My doctor put me on Clomid 100 mg (day 3-7) for three months. Besides the side effects for me were pretty bad (mood swings, crying for no reason, vision disturbances, ovary pain, back pain) I didn't ovulate until day 21. I used OPK's but no luck in detecting my LH surge. So I phoned the fertility clinic and they did E2 and LH. The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound.

Yes i have used Femara three rounds, the first time I got pregnant which ended in m/c at 8wks. second round no pregnancy third round we did get pregnant but also another m/c. So we are trying this time without femara. my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.

Bc will only help regulate your cycles and may help with other symptoms/side effects of pcos. If you r ttc I would recommend being referred to a fertility clinic as their waiting lists can be long. I am currently dealing with pcos and infertility issues myself.

I found the femara far better than clomid. And no side effects at all! Except pregnancy!

Hey girl, just spotted your post up here. Yeah, I had really bad hot flashes from the clomid so they put me on femara (primarily used to treat breast cancer, apparantly it either blocks estrogen or tricks your body into thinking it doesn't have enough and thus produces more or something to this effect). For the first IUI with the clomid I had two follicles emerge and then they gave me a trigger shot of Ovidrel.

bc I had used clomid first and it was terrible for me along with it not helping me ovulate. Clomid has way too many harsh side effects, with Femara I had none and was able to ovulate rather quickly. I give you best wishes and hope that clomid works out for you. I'm in the process of waiting to find out if I have baby#2 roasting in the oven yet. It's making me go insane. I just read good things about it, and it is a naturally alternative to assist with natural ovulation, with no side effects. From the online reviews it even assists with cm I just started taking it today, but have done a lot of research on it. Like you, I need to take a break from clomid, but still want to increase my chances of pregnancy. With anything though, I would check with your doctor. I have a call into mine now.

I started Clomid in 2009 after my M/C with no luck. Then I got on Metformin in May 2010. I have lost 50+ lbs, with Metformin. In Aug. I was given Femara, and havent had AF since then. I have taken 2 HPT and both have some back negitive. Yesterday 11/30, I took my Provera so we can jumpstart my AF, and hopfully take either Clomid or Femara. With Clomid 150mg I didn't have any side effects and With 100mg of Clomid, I was a total wrack! Femara 7mg, I was fine.

t think I can even continue this side effects are so bad. I just wanted to have this posted for all of you who are being told it is "stress' and does not happen etc. That is the wrong info, it 100% happens and is happening to me, And is not from low progesterone! It is from IVF meds like Femara, Estrogen Patch, Menopur.
