725941 tn?1297882209 i think there are several of us on here that have gotten preg with femara.. i took two cycles of femara without any luck (but we were told due to our issues including male factor we would need IVF.. so this wasn't a shock) but then the 3rd IUI did femara + injectables and it did work.. i have endometriosis and they really like femara for endo patients as well.. it doesn't thin the lining like clomid.. did your doctor do an ultrasound to check how many follies you had?
1626928 tn?1378850167 I recently switched doctors and am getting ready to start my first cycle of femara. I am taking 2.5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.

Avatar f tn You can ask your doctor about Femara, which works similarly. Some women respond better to Femara than Clomid. You doctor should do a 21 day progesterone to indicate that you are ovulating and the progesterone levels are in the expected ranges. If your progesterone levels are low, it can lower your chances of conceiving, but it can be treated with progesterone supplements to improve your chances.
Avatar f tn With the Femara 5mg(CD3-7) and Progesterone (CD16-25) medication, I seem to have put on weight and become quiet moody. Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise what could be the reasonand I need to do ?
5143114 tn?1364237535 In December, my gyno put me on Metformin 750mg 2 times a day. Then in January added 5mg Femara (days 3-7), also did that in Feb. Then this past month (March) she uped me to 7mg of femara (and still taking Metformin, too). My 21 day Progestrone levels for December was 2.87, January was 1.76, Feb was 7.87, and this last one was 9.82 She also did tested 4 other harmones on day 3 of my cycle, everything was normal, except the TSH which was .282, which she said was a little underactive.
Avatar f tn High doses of Clomid can have adverse effects on cervical mucous and also the endometrium. If you were my patient, I would want to give Femara a try(maybe you already have) OR a combo of Femara and Clomid -- I have seen at least one practicioner using this approach. Just a thought -- Femara has a better track record where cervical mucous and endometrial thickness are concerned. Hope you are already pregnant and don't need this info! Good luck!
1622229 tn?1299050798 I wanted to share some encouraging news for people who have Chronic Hep B and have financial difficulty affording Baraclude. I contacted Brystol Myers Squibb and applied for the Patient Assistance Program. The website and application is here: http://www.bms.com/products/Pages/programs.aspx It took about a week and they have approved me to receive the medication and are shipping it to my home.
749784 tn?1233499310 I am all but in remission myself from taking an aromotase inhibitor similar to Femara. I tried Femara, but it didn't agree with me, so I switched to Aromasin, which works the same way. If your mother is achieving remission from Femara, then I would ask the 3 doctors recommending chemotherapy why they recommend it. Do you know if her cancer cells are low grade or high grade? If they are high grade, then chemo is more than likely a good choice, side effects and all.
Avatar f tn I agree with cheescake, clomid has been known to cause cysts in women more than femara... it also thins the lining of the uterus and femara doesn't , however it can produce more follies than femara.. i would defintely ask your doctor! i got one cyst on femara.. well two others, but the resolved on their own, and the reason i got those was due to endo and pcos not letting my follies rupture, so then they just grew bigger into cysts!
Avatar f tn This is my understanding of the patient assistance programs for Incivek. The list price, which no patient will have to end up paying, is $49,200 for 12 weeks. HOWEVER, the patient assistance programs, are more than generous. Typical Co-pay for the three prescriptions that will be needed will be between $50 and $250 each.
Avatar f tn I was wondering what the medical explanation was for why fertility drugs cause cysts? If you do get a cysts at the end of a cycle, does that mean you never had a chance of getting pg from that cycle? Is there anything a person can do to prevent the cysts? I did several cycles of Clomid with no cysts; then one cycle of Femara that produced 2 cysts. Now I'm ending another cycle of Femara and believe that I have cysts again.
Avatar m tn As I have posted before, my wife aged 74 has breast cancer and has been on Femara for about three months prior to surgery. She's responding well and the cancer has shrunk, and she hasn't really had any side affects but in the last 2 weeks has developed an itchy red rash in the area between her legs and upper thighs.
1713494 tn?1327519682 Would your local mental health service have access to that information? Maybe whereever you go for governement assistance (financially) they may have some info. Have you tried a google search?
