femara liver

I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

The liver mass has reduced and the swollen lymph nodes are back to normal size and the pelvic masses have gone. Mum is upset that the liver tumour has not gone. They have put her on femara now as a follow up treatment. We are all a bit worried where this goes now. I mean what is femara and in the long term will she face another reoccurance? what is the outlook for the future?

I was on femara and the pain was so bad. I thought my back and knees hurt from exercise the pain was from femara. all my bones hurt. when i went off it within 10 days the pain was gone. I am now on aromatex although not purfect the pain is minimal and if i swim alot it helps with the pain. there are other drugs that do the same.

I had further blood tests and apparently those to do with my liver were high. Could these red spots appearing on my skin indicate a liver problem? Could it be due to taking Femara or indicative of some other problem? I have private insurance but in all truth I'm finding the medical resources/speciliasts available in the country I live in (New Zealand) are just stretched to the limit, and I am reluctant to be a nuisance to them.

I believe viread make me sicker. I think the fertility drug femara cause the flare but he said Not femara.

The CT scan showed that the swollen lymph nodes have now shrunk back to normal, the masses in her pelvis have gone and the only thing thats left is a small spot in her liver which they are not sure whether its cancerous or a scar left from the cancer. They have given mum a hormone tablet called femara to take for the rest of her life which they have said is an anti cancer drug and will kill any cancer cells. Has anyone had this? I am pleased that the chemo has worked.

recurrence started around 5/07 and was finally discovered 8/07 with mets everywhere. Had my liver, pancreas, lower, upper bowels resectioned and my spleen removed. Second surgery was 9/07. I responded very well to chemo. Is femara used in cases like mine with NED after recurrence? I'm so worried that it will come back with a vengence like it did last August. It almost took my life in less than two years. Thank you for your help ...

I am all but in remission myself from taking an aromotase inhibitor similar to Femara. I tried Femara, but it didn't agree with me, so I switched to Aromasin, which works the same way. If your mother is achieving remission from Femara, then I would ask the 3 doctors recommending chemotherapy why they recommend it. Do you know if her cancer cells are low grade or high grade? If they are high grade, then chemo is more than likely a good choice, side effects and all.

A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!

First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?

Hi I had BC two years ago surgery, rads x 30m, 8mm, hormone positive, grade 2, no nodes. Since treatment have had ovaries out and take femara. Today returned slightly elevated ALP liver enzyme test of 123. Should I be totally freaking out about this. Does this indicate that I could have progression to my bones. If not what can cause a change in this test. I have recently lost 5kg by exercising and watching what I eat.

I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.

I didnt get any response from any healthcare providers on my Tamoxifen/Femara question regarding weight gain and loss. Can anyone answer that question for me.

I have been taking Femara the last 3 month, I also take metformin and esterdiol since my lining does not get thick enough on it's own. I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!

d like to discuss trying femara for this 6th cycle instead of clomid since it thinned my lining so much for this cycle. But..I want to know..can I expect the same type of results from femara as I have with clomid? On 100 mgs of clomid, I have had a mature follicle ready for trigger on Days 10 and 11. Thoughts? and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!

So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? So, I took Femara for the first time this cycle - 10 pills on CD7 (he'd rather do them on CD3, but since my cycles have been running long, he took a chance). Anyway, I've been waking up with rather severe tummyaches and intestinal cramps and also getting massive headaches (borderline migraines) in the afternoon.... Could this be due to the Femara?

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

We will be moving on to 5mg of Femara Cd 4 - 8 and then menopur CD 9 - 11. Then trigger and IUI. Has anyone had success with this? I've heard that women can be more fertile after a m/c, so whether it was due to the m/c or the Femara I really don't know. But I've read a lot of promising stuff about Femara, so good luck to you!

It is very hard to ascertain if Femara can directly cause fibromyalgia, since this condition or side effect is not routinely reported or classified in the clinical trials that used Femara. What Femara does, however, is that it can have a side effect in bone metabolism causing decreased bone mineralization that can cause bone pains and sometimes may lead to increased incidence of fractures.
