Femara drug side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Femara drug side effects

femara

534810 tn?1213327718 Hi there. This side effect is really not so common with femara and with similar drugs like arimidex. However, this do happen and with the proximity of the symptoms to the intake of the drug, you can't help but point this side effects on the drug (especially if the symptoms are relieved upon drug withdrawal).
Avatar n tn Femara and similar drugs in its class really have musculo-skeletal symptoms as the main side effects. This drug can cause decrease in bone density and bone mass leading to osteoporosis and sometimes increased tendency to have fractures.
Avatar n tn am, Tamoxifen is a drug that blocks the action of the hormone estrogen. Side effects of this drug may include : nausea, hot flashes, weight gain or headache. (http://www.medicinenet.com/tamoxifen-oral/article.htm) FEMARA (letrozole tablets) is approved for the adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.
Avatar f tn ve been seeing a rheumatologist and my internist for some kind of answers and they both tell me that they are not fimiliar with the long lasting after effects of the drug. i would like to see an oncologist for some answers since they prescribe the drug more than any other dr but They will not see me because I don't have cancer.(thank god). Can someone please tell me if you experienced the same effects.
374593 tn?1257879950 It is impossible to have side effects from a drug with a 2 day half life 1 1/2 years after stopping use. It is either caused by another condition or you are imagining it. Don't post BS on this website when women are already worried and looking for answers.
216278 tn?1308861082 m on my third round of femara, and had no side effects the first month, but the second and third cycle, I did have a headache on and off for a couple of days. No tummy aches or breaking out, though. BUT, since you took such a high dose all at once, it wouldn't surprise me if the stimulation of the ovaries is causing some crampiness. Like dnikki said, you could always call your doctor and check. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I agree, a change in your vision is one of the rare side effects of clomid. Femara is another similar drug that can be used, and usually without as many side effects. If I were you, I would try to talk to the doctor about this as soon as possible. I don't really have any experience with PCOS, but eating better and exercising certainly wouldn't hurt. Good luck to you and I hope you get this all figured out soon!
Avatar n tn t any osteoporous Femara causes swelling and bone pain I switch to Arimidex after being off Femara for 2 weeks and am not having the pain. Please look in to Femara side effects and possible changeing to another drug. I even was in physical therapy for two months because I thought it was me but no it was the drug..
Avatar f tn Hi, Some women switch between the two drugs depending on the side effects they experience, often women will tolerate one better than the other.. but these two drugs are very similar and both can have similar side effects. I am actually on Arimidex ( almost 2 years) and so far it hasn't been too bad. I have heard of woman who felt better with Femara...so it really depends on how a person can tolerate one drug over the other. I hope that Femara will work better for you. Best wishes..
Avatar m tn You should keep in mind however that you MUST weigh the side effects against the positive effect of taking the drug. Often you can be switched to another drug with similar benefits and lessen the side effects. All the drugs in this class can produce the same untoward effects but not all persons will experience all of them OR to the same degree. NEVER discontinue any drug until you have discussed it with your team of Dr.s Regards....
320424 tn?1205500555 I tried clomid for 8 months and got one BFP but ended in early m/c. So now this cycle (when af shows) I am trying the Femara - less side effects than clomid (I have endo and PCOS). I just read some research on it that my RE gave me and it said it is found not have any side effects on the endometrial lining or CM. So, def. looking forward to that! Good luck and keep us posted!!
Avatar n tn So I took Femara for one more year. The side effects were much less aggravating, but it still caused fatigue, arthritis, indigestion, muscle pain and weight gain. Finally my Surgeon told me to stop the drug and I did. In total I was taking these drugs for 4 years.I had absolutely no withdrawal side effects, quite the contrary ,I started to feel much better just a few weeks later.I felt like a new person again.
Avatar f tn Femara is a breast cancer drug and not sure how the side effects would turn out when taking 10 pills in one day. Sounds very unusual.
Avatar n tn Im 7 years out, stage 1. Im 5 mos. into Femara and starting to feel some unwanted side effects and wondering what to do. I would love to be "drug" free and go on. Do you feel I should continue? Any information would be great. I will be discussing it with my physician shortly. Thanx.
Avatar n tn Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
691236 tn?1311199974 Has anyone tried this drug and what were the differences from clomid? I believe this is the same as femara? Any advice/knowledge you have would be great. Thanks!
Avatar f tn i have had no side effects from it besides being really moody and irritable, my husband said i turned my moods every second. i took a month break and waiting to find out if im preg, but if not next month back on the femara, but my hubby loves me this way better, he said im much happier this month while being off of it. id love to hear any success stories about femara, though the only thing ive heard is one girl got preg while on femara and doing an IUI at the sametime, she now has a daughter.
Avatar m tn Hi, All aromatase inhibitors may cause side effects, but some people can better tolerate the side effects of these drugs, while others cannot.Check with your Doctor/Oncologist if another similar drug might be better suited for you if any of these most common side effects persist or become bothersome when using Letrozole (Brand name Femara). Please check the link below for more information concerning the side effects. http://www.drugs.com/sfx/letrozole-side-effects.
962875 tn?1314210036 As many of you know or have experienced, the AIs ( Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin), which are used to treat hormone-receptor positve breast cancer, often produce joint or muscle pain as a side effect. For about 20% of women, the side effects are so severe that they stop taking their medicine, which increases the risk that their breast cancer will recur.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Shortness of breath is not a listed common (and even uncommon) side effects of femara and similar drugs. Femara's side effects most commonly involve the bones and the bone mineralization process with more tendency towards osteoporosis and sometimes fractures. I suggest that you inform your doctor about this, as this may be due to anxiety, lung, or heart problem (which can be a side effect of previous treatment like chemotherapy or radiation therapy). Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn as per my RE, it can take upto 30 days for Clomid to get out of our systems...there is another drug - Femara which has a much shorter life span in our bodies!
1340383 tn?1309990914 I was on Clomid but asked my RE about Letrozole because I have a friend who got pregnant twice on second round of IUI with Letrozole. RE said it was merely doctor preference. My RE has higher success rates with clomid so that's what he prescribes, but his partner in the same clinic uses Letrozole almost exclusively. I'm sure that wasn't very helpful... but thought I'd share.
Avatar f tn I know the importance of the drug but am really having a hard time. I have tried altering the time I take the drug and nsaids and still not happy at all.
495138 tn?1221217880 This is just my opinion of course, but if Clomid didn't work for you, then it would probably make sense to try something different. I took them both and I definitely had less side effects on the Femara and i know it's supposed to be better for your lining and your CM. I would definitely talk to the doctor about it. Femara is really a breast cancer drug, but it's "off-label" use is for Fertility, so I think some doctors don't prescribe it.
