I agree with cheescake, clomid has been known to cause cysts in women more than femara... it also thins the lining of the uterus and femara doesn't , however it can produce more follies than femara.. i would defintely ask your doctor! i got one cyst on femara.. well two others, but the resolved on their own, and the reason i got those was due to endo and pcos not letting my follies rupture, so then they just grew bigger into cysts!

Please Help me i am about to try ICSI or IVF but my dr told me i can try femara for another 3 months before ICSI because i have a very slim chance of getting pregnant with femara r clomid before moving to IVF but my problem is i have a chocolate cyst measuring 6cm on my right ovary {i already had lap to remove 2 cysts 5 months ago but one of them grew back and i also have one blocked tube} My question is does anyone got pregnant with chocolate cyst and a blocked tube on femara or clomid or i hav

I was wondering what the medical explanation was for why fertility drugs cause cysts? If you do get a cysts at the end of a cycle, does that mean you never had a chance of getting pg from that cycle? Is there anything a person can do to prevent the cysts? I did several cycles of Clomid with no cysts; then one cycle of Femara that produced 2 cysts. Now I'm ending another cycle of Femara and believe that I have cysts again.

ve done two cycles of Femara..lots of follicles but no pregnancy. I have ovarian cysts too. I am starting injectables in April.

Hiya...this is my first cycle on Femara. I did clomid last cycle and ended up with 2 big cysts(shown in the CD3 scan of this cycle ). With Femara I had a lot of fatigue.. but nothing that I can't handle. I found it better than clomid and am going for CD12 scan tomorrow. Will let u know how it goes!!! :) good luck.

Femara is another option...doesn't thin ur lining and you have less chance of cysts. Good luck.

It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Now I am curious - what was your dosing of femara when you got your cysts and what days did you take it?? I took femara this cycle too. I took it one cycle in 2007 with no problems which resulted in my lovely daughter. So this was only the 2nd cycle I have ever taken anything and now I most likely have a cyst! In 2007 I took 5mg cd3-cd7. This time I took cd3 - 2.5mg, cd4 - 5mg, cd5 - 7.5mg and cd6 - 10mg. I am wondering if the ramping caused me to get the cyst.

ve done several rounds of Femara but never had any break through bleeding of any kind. What I did get were cysts that were producing progesterone and made AF delayed and my cycles excruitatingly long. I've switched back to Clomid now.

Hello! Yes, cramping from both ovaries is common from Femara and Clomid (and other similar ovulatory drugs) by increasing amounts of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Under normal hormone levels a race progresses for one follicle to become the largest, but when there's extra FSH multiple follicles will become enlarged in both ovaries. This is most likely what you're feeling, as I've had similar symptoms from Clomid.

I am sorry to hear that you were in pain. I have heard of this and I have also heard that Femara isn't as likely to cause cysts, I have only taken Femara and have never had any problems. I took for 9 months last time I go pregnant and currently on my 3rd month. You might want to ask your doctor about it if you don't get your BFP this month, but I hope you do and you won't have to ask!!

Hope some one can advise me! Ive pcos and on femara to ttc for 1 year. My periods are usually 28 -30 day cycles. Was due period Sunday if was to b a 28 day cycle so now 5 days late. had a negative pregnancy test Saturday and Monday. Im tired, bloated, urinating frequently And have little to no discharge. Im so down and fed up over all these negative results. Has anyone any advice or experienced similar? Any feedback atal would be much appreciated.

I did with Clomid because it is common to get cysts on it. Femara did not cause me any problems that I needed to monitor with u/s. I did not trigger either.

I was on femara and I would BD every other day when I was approaching our peak day according to the OPK. I also used preseed to assist as we were BD. After months of failed attempts trying the old fashioned way, and clomid, we finally got our BFP with the second cycle of femara. By the way the side effects of femara are way more tolerable than the awful side effects I would have on Clomid. Good Luck SSBD to you!

On last ultrasound, MD said I either had some cysts or possible endometriosis. Again devastating news. MD put me on birth control for 6 weeks to see if the cysts go away. My MD basically said there is little chance of me conceiving on my own. Is there anyone that has been put on BC pills for similar reasons. I'm uncomfortable taking birth control. I'm so discouraged. Should we get a second opinion? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound. I had many big cysts on my ovaries and the doctor told me that Clomid is not working for me. So I am suppose to have protected intercourse for the next 2 weeks and he'll call me back for setting another plan. I read so many success stories about Clomid and I feel very discouraged. Before the treatment I had an HSG and all the blood test for me and my husband, and everything was fine.

I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly.So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.

ve been on repronex and femara before. Only caused cysts once and it resolved on its own. Also bought some Preseed - I figure it can't hurt!!

It only has a 1/2 life. It is actually out of your system much sooner than Clomid. I have done several rounds of it myself and like it overall much more than Clomid. I didn't develop cysts like I did on Clomid and never had s/e. I just did another round after a break, this cycle. Hopefully, it will be the one. We'll know in a few more days.

Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?

the baseline us check if you do not have any cysts or not before they put u on med... my questions is that on cd3 itself i have 11mm follis...is that normal. Angie...did they give u a trigger on 27 and 28mm? were u on femara also?

Ok here is my situation. I have PCOS and have done 2 cycles of clomid, and 2 of femara, and the bloodwork showed I did not ovulate any of these times. However, I was not being monitored by ultrasound, so there was no way to know if I was growing follicles and just not releasing eggs from them.

Has your RE spoke to you about Femara? I could be wrong but I don't believe that it causes cysts like clomid does.

Just a question, I had 20 follies last cycle, bfn, so now I went for sono and found I had 4 cysts , got a call from my RE's office and want me to wait another cycle for FET. I've never had cysts before so I don't really know what they are and why I can't do FET. Have an appointment on Friday with RE.
