Femara conception

Common Questions and Answers about Femara conception

femara

Avatar f tn With the Femara 5mg(CD3-7) and Progesterone (CD16-25) medication, I seem to have put on weight and become quiet moody. Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise what could be the reasonand I need to do ?
Avatar n tn I have used clomid for conception but to no avail. How else can i achieve pregnancy.
1204794 tn?1300704113 She said that it does not mean that it will decrease my chances of conception. So to all you Femara and Clomid users no need to worry about it. Easier said than done I understand.
Avatar f tn I have regular cycles. The doctor put me on metformin and femara (spell check) which I did ovulate on so thry say from my progesterone levels..but still not pregnant. Does any one knows what I could do to help me become pregro?
374593 tn?1257879950 Once Endo patients have a Lap and the lesions get "cleaned up" . What are your opinions on Lupron for 3-6 months post-op, in order to achieve pregnancy in a patient with mod-severe endometriosis? From what i've ready I can't find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time.

Avatar f tn If you are ready for pregnancy, I would give my own patient a medication such as Femara or Clomid. These medications are given on a monthly basis and help to stimulate ovulation. They will help improve chances for conception and also help regulate the periods if no conception occurs. Good luck!
Avatar f tn That's what I thought but im starting at 100mg its 50mg every 12 hrs
Avatar n tn The good news is that often the condition is very responsive to medications such as Clomid or Femara. If you do see a specialist, they might start with one of these meds. The meds can help you ovulate closer to every 28 days and that will hopefully reduce your wait time for conception. Good luck!
199922 tn?1224786706 My doctor thought the best thing was the femara treatment. Right now I am on Femara/Aygestin treatment for 3 months. After that he feels either I can opt for surgery (bowel reconstruction, etc) OR TTC again using IUI/femara/injections. He states we can try that for 3 months, after that he'd move on to IVF. I've read some good things about the femara therapy...and would be happy to share my experiences/ etc with anyone if you are interested in it as well.
788859 tn?1236734548 yes femara has a short half life, so its out of your system way before conception starts! a lot of people on here have used it to get pregnant.. i used it on many cycles combined with injectables.. it helps with ovulation and endometriosis suppression as well, and has less side effects for most people than clomid! GOOD LUCK!
1500096 tn?1292945593 I used birth control pills for a year of which i had a regular cycle. I stopped using the pills after i got married and my cycle became very irregular. Since then, i've been unable to conceive. Any time my menstrual cycle becomes regular and i have sexual intercourse with my husband, menses ceases for months until i take some drugs that would be prescribed by the doctor.
873190 tn?1304812975 At 39 y/o, I am going for my first IUI this week. I wanted to ask your feedback because, as usual, all the information is a little overwhelming. Of course, I'm wondering what the chances are of conceiving on the first try? I heard it's anywhere from 2%-20% depending on your situation, but I also heard there is about a 30% chance of m/c. Anyone have any insight? Also, is it true your chances of success increase with each consecutive IUI (up to a point, i.e. 4 or 5 tries)?
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry to hear that, mim. TTC can be frustrating enough as is... I would BD anyway, though, just in case. I did clomid one cycle only, because it totally dried up my cervical mucus. I'm now on my first month on Femara, and haven't had any side effects at all. On my CD13 sonogram, I had two follicles, one at 18 and one at 18.5. Maybe you could ask your RE about trying Femara for a few months instead of clomid.
Avatar f tn It has made me ovulate but I have not gotten pregnant. I am currently taking femara and it has not made me ovulate. Gonal F worked for me a year ago but I lost the baby at 5 months. Clomid is usually the first method of help as far as I know. I know it is not used only for ivf. good luck to you.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would check some basic lab work such as thyroid studies and prolactin levels as well as FSH. Depending upon what these tests showed, I might then prescribe Clomid or Femara to help you ovulate more frequently and speed up the time to conception. Sometimes Metformin is a good adjunct too. If you are overweight, losing as little as 10 lb can help too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
144100 tn?1283522567 First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
Avatar n tn I didnt get any response from any healthcare providers on my Tamoxifen/Femara question regarding weight gain and loss. Can anyone answer that question for me.
1160836 tn?1332330169 I have been taking Femara the last 3 month, I also take metformin and esterdiol since my lining does not get thick enough on it's own. I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!
Avatar f tn d like to discuss trying femara for this 6th cycle instead of clomid since it thinned my lining so much for this cycle. But..I want to know..can I expect the same type of results from femara as I have with clomid? On 100 mgs of clomid, I have had a mature follicle ready for trigger on Days 10 and 11. Thoughts? Thanks!
320424 tn?1205500555 and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
Avatar f tn So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....
