femara and pregnancy success

hello! we just had success with femara (and injectables) and we have endo, pcos and male factor! we did do IUI... however we may be losing this pregnancy (in the waiting game right now) as far as side effects, i didn't have many at all, and it actually can increase cervical mucus unlike clomid. and it does have a short half life so birth defects shouldn't be a worry!. a lot of people have success stories on this! good luck!

I had success my 2nd month on femara. Sadly that pregnancy ended at 11 1/2 weeks. Don't really know why. Before that I had done clomid/iui's, ivf with chemical pregnancy, and failed fet. With the femara we were also trying "naturally", so i do think it can work well. I am now on my third round of it again after my mc. Hoping for a bfp on Christmas, if not then i am moving on to injectables. Good luck with the femara!!

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

This is also my first month taking femara and we will also be doing my first ovidrel inj and progesterone afterwards... So I agree, hopefully we can all be a success story and this combo will work great! as candie429 said, i've heard a lot of people get BFP's from these meds! I go in on tuesday for my follie check, then IUI (also a first!!!). GOOD LUCK TO you both! Keep me updated! I havne' t noticed any side effects from the femara yet, have yall?

Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!

This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

Had scan today and menopur was increased to 150.

hey i havent been on for a few months either, was also taking a break. I did 3 rounds of clomid and natural no luck. then we did 2 rounds of femara (letrezole) with and iui, unfortunately no luck....so we took 3 months off, now repeat semen analysis and if the counts are up, injectables to up the odds, if they havent changed we are thinking ivf....

I used this as well after no success with 8 months of Clomid. Femara with timed intercourse and an IUI worked on my 3rd treatment. I'm due in June! BFP coming ur way!

Ive taken Femara. Many many success stories. I have now currently preg after only cycle. :) people try for a very long time , even with clomid they don't have any luck. But femara is a miracle drug . lol Even tho this does not answer your question. Sorry .

I had tried Clomid for one month, and it thinned out my lining and made me a huge grump, so the Femara was much gentler in my opinion. I hope you have success with it too!

Higher levels of 21 progesterone can indicate a better chance of pregnancy success. If your progesterone levels are not within the expected range with Femara, even when ovulation occurs, your doctor may want to supplement you with progesterone after ovulation. Progesterone not only helps with ovulation, but also helps to build the uterine lining. If the lining is too thin, it can cause the egg not to implant in the lining or can lead to early miscarraige. I’ve done 5 rounds of clomid with no success. I did a round of femara. And I am feeling craps with lots of bloating. I am about 8 days away from my period and I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Did you end up getting pregnant? With those symptoms??

t really help with fertility, its just a toss up..femara for suppression of endo and fertility has not been researched enough yet though, but looks promising!

I have a success story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was on clomid for 4 months. The first 3 months were given by my OB. 50mg, 100mg and 150mg. She then referred me to a RE. He tried me on one more round of clomid 150mg to no avail. I had an HSG done and all tubes were clear. I was then put on letrozole (femara) days 3-7. Went in on day 14 for an u/s and had a follicle measuring 17.5mm. Did OPK for a few days and got my +. Went in the following day and had IUI. I am now 12.5 weeks pg with TWINS!

my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.

HI, I am on my first IUI cycle and have the IUI tomorrow. I started on follastim with a HCG trigger and I have talked to so many people on here who got a BFP with their injectables and IUI. - First time as well. (to mom of three) - My RE says injectables have much higher success rates than clomid, (and multiples as you said) but they're really good with them and taper the doses to your needs. The only bummer is scans and bloodwork every 2 days, even at weekends.

Hi ladies I am pretty sure I didnt o this month so my RE is probably going to put me on clomid but I wana to get some advice on it. I was on Clomid for 6 months last year with no success and i was also very emotional and moody on it .And I had heard that it can cause uterine thinning. So my question is which is better Clomid or Femara??? Should I discuss with her which one is best for me or should I just go with the clomid?? I live in Canada so i dont even know if they have Femara here??

s, chemical pregnancy after ivf, and failed FET. I just started going to a new doctor. He put me on femara, and my 2nd month I was pregnant, no IUI or anything! Sadly, I am having a miscarriage at about 9 weeks, but it did work! I think it worked much better with my body! And i didn't feel as crappy as when I took the clomid. Good luck!!! Hope it works for you. As soon as my miscarriage is over I will be starting on femara again.

So I am on Femara now and doctor also told me to use the OPKs, BBT seems to be a little inaccurate especially with alot of us lacking sleep. He said my most fertile days are as soon as I get the positive, and the day after- thats it. If I do not ovulate this cycle, come back and see him. So thats good news. Has anyone taken Femara? Any side effects?

I agree with Jenny that you should go with an RE. But as for the femara, yes I have had success with it. I got pregnant on my second cycle on it. I also did a trigger shot and IUI. I am 15 weeks pregnant. Prior to that I had tried clomid for a long time (longer than I should have been on it) with no success. So it does work! I hope it works for you!
