I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!

as per my RE, it can take upto 30 days for Clomid to get out of our systems...there is another drug - Femara which has a much shorter life span in our bodies!

Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!

m on my second cycle with Femara and Ovidrel, and we actually just did IUI today. What is it that you are so worried about specifically? I haven't had any bad side effects so far from either drug, although I have to admit I had a tough time giving myself the needle. I ended out having hubby do it for me. As for how long it takes to get your bfp, it really differs from person to person. Some people will get lucky on the first round and other have to keep moving up the ladder.

Hi - After 3 rounds of Clomid and 1 round of Femara without a pregnancy, my RE started me on an IUI cycle of injectables (Follistim and Ovidrel). I am currently in my 2WW. I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

well looks like yall are both close to my schedule as well! This is also my first month taking femara and we will also be doing my first ovidrel inj and progesterone afterwards... So I agree, hopefully we can all be a success story and this combo will work great! as candie429 said, i've heard a lot of people get BFP's from these meds! Well I will be starting Femara this month, CD 3-7 , and then progesterone.. I have heard pretty good news with women getting pregnant the first time on this Femara... I sooooo hope this works... Any good positive thoughts will help... We just has our first Blizzard of 2011 here in Douglas Michigan... 18" . I have seen enough of the white stuff... Wishing everyone SSBD ... TTUL..... But you have to be cautious as it is too early for you to be experiencing symptoms related to pregnancy. Your symptoms of breast tenderness, tiredness, nausea and headaches could all be due to premenstrual hormonal changes. I would advise you to wait till your periods to confirm your pregnancy. I had success my 2nd month on femara. Sadly that pregnancy ended at 11 1/2 weeks. Don't really know why. Before that I had done clomid/iui's, ivf with chemical pregnancy, and failed fet. With the femara we were also trying "naturally", so i do think it can work well. I am now on my third round of it again after my mc. Hoping for a bfp on Christmas, if not then i am moving on to injectables. Good luck with the femara!!

Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone Saw the Dr today and were told that we do in fact have unexplained fertility. He recommended Femara x 5 days starting tonight. Then overlap with Gonal F injections starting day 6, then when follicles are mature, Ovidrel injection and IUI x 2. Then if pregnancy I'll take Progesterone for the first while (can't remember how long) Has anyone done something similar? Just curious. I'm 39 so he said this is the best way and We should try for 3 cycles. Hope this works!!

Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..

I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

What cycle day are you today? And what cycle days did you take femara? As far as I know, femara does not cause a false positive...especially not two days after the last pill.

Okay so I used femara this last cycle and ovulated 4 days in a row does femara or multiple days of ovulation make me increased chances for twins because im hoping there is only one baby in there

With the Femara 5mg(CD3-7) and Progesterone (CD16-25) medication, I seem to have put on weight and become quiet moody. Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise what could be the reasonand I need to do ?

This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

s, chemical pregnancy after ivf, and failed FET. I just started going to a new doctor. He put me on femara, and my 2nd month I was pregnant, no IUI or anything! Sadly, I am having a miscarriage at about 9 weeks, but it did work! I think it worked much better with my body! And i didn't feel as crappy as when I took the clomid. Good luck!!! Hope it works for you. As soon as my miscarriage is over I will be starting on femara again.

last month was my first month and femara. I had the same spotting, and my cycle was also 30 days. (usually mine is 35 though, so 30 was better for me). . . the spotting bothered me too, I kept hoping that it was implantation bleeding. But no, finally af came full force. This is my second month on it. I o'd the same day this day as last month, so expect the cycle will be 30 days again. Good luck with your IUI!!

Then we decided to try Clomid along with all this other stuff plus HCG injections to trigger ovulation and then support the pregnancy, so three injections of HCG in total. First round, pregnancy m/c around 5 weeks. Two more rounds of that I didn't get pregnant. Switched to Femara. First round didn't get preg. Currently on my second round w/ Femara. My question is- we really seemed to get preg much much much easier without clomid or femara. On the first or second try.

I got pregnant my 2nd month taking Femara, unfortunatley that pregnancy was a blighted ovim. I started the Femara up again and just finished my 3rd month. I take 2.5 mg on days 3-7. Good luck! It really does work!
