Common Questions and Answers about Femara and ivf

femara

629668 tn?1222914854 m on follistim +femara) and 3 ruptured... and we are again submitting and getting ready for IVF, in our last tww before officially moving on to that! SO it was almost a success story, but when we got preg there was a genetic abnormality.. so the good news is that it deifntley happens and sometimes without any help with a morph of 2% along with female issues too! GOOD LUCK! as far as side effects i really don't have any from the femara! keep us updated!
Avatar f tn Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???
Avatar f tn I would go ahead with femara for a few cycles, it can be very successful and is far cheaper than IVF (and much less invasive). Only go for injectables if femara doesn't work. I am 40 and just pregnant on a femara cycle.
1420070 tn?1282337926 How many tries did it take for you to get pregnant? Were you on any fertility drugs? Did you do IUI or IVF, with a known or unknown donor? My wife and I are going on our 5th month but 3rd try. The first month was on 50mg of clomid with 3 mature follicles and didn't get pregnant. Second attempt was on 75mg clomid with 7 follicles (5 mature and 3 close, skipped that one, didn't want to be "octo-mom") and last month was on 2.
Avatar f tn Please Help me i am about to try ICSI or IVF but my dr told me i can try femara for another 3 months before ICSI because i have a very slim chance of getting pregnant with femara r clomid before moving to IVF but my problem is i have a chocolate cyst measuring 6cm on my right ovary {i already had lap to remove 2 cysts 5 months ago but one of them grew back and i also have one blocked tube} My question is does anyone got pregnant with chocolate cyst and a blocked tube on femara or clomid or i hav
Avatar f tn Hello all.. I'm new to all of this! Glad I know there's a community of supporters. I was diagnosed with PCOS and my ob/gyn sent me to a fertility specialist when I mentioned pregnancy. She didn't feel it was worth the stress since I don't ovulate on mine own. I took progesterone for 10 days (moodiest I've ever been!), and then started femara on day 2 of AF. I just finished femara (day 6) and I've been experiencing headaches that won't go away.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone I'm from the UK and new to his forum. Me and my husband have been trying for over 2 years, we have been with a fertility clinic for 8month. I'm just about to finish my 6 months on Clomid and it's soul destroying. We have been using ovulation kits and trying really hard and still no pregnancy. Next step will be IVF, once we get referred by our specialist. Is there anyone on here from the UK who has gone through Ivf on the Nhs?
Avatar n tn s - we got preg on our third, but mc) so now on our second and last with femara + follistim.. before IVF.. i forget where i found all the studies, but i had just searched online and the results looked pretty amazing! So you defintely have to keep me updated! : ) i'm not sure about the aygestin, but from what i've read its progesterone.. which would prevent ovulation.. i did read that people can develop cysts when on femara for prolonged periods..
Avatar n tn =) I had my iui earlier today, so I'm officially in my 2ww..... ahhhh its already driving me crazy!
255732 tn?1318517822 Hi! Yes, letrozole is the same as femara, and it does work alone. I used it alone for three cycles, and I had two mature follicles each time. As for moving straight to IVF after femara, I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest injectable/IUI first...but you could always bring that back up if you don't get pregnant over the next three/four cycles. Best of luck to you!
374593 tn?1257879950 t work we will do IVF.. just not sure about lupron vs femara and ? another lap.. hummmm... Your story gives me hope!!!!! Were the side effects bad on lupron?? Gosh I hate to waste more time!! Thanks! and I'm hoping this IUI works for you!!! : ) keep me updated!
99627 tn?1301270952 I had ovarian Cyst removed in 2003 and doctor found some endometriosis and cleared it. We did 3 IUIs before we did 2 IVF no succes. We changed our RE and he started me on clomid the first month for clomid challenge test. My FSH came back 9.2 on both day 3 and day 10. I am 30 years old, so he said this was little on the high side. DH did SA and morphology is only 4% normal. RE put me on Femara this month and did IUI again, unfortunately did not get pregnant.
Avatar m tn We did one fresh ivf with BFN and one FET that gave us our beautiful baby girl. I started IVF at 35 and gave birth at 36 years old. It's hard to stop trying iui's since they are SOOO much cheaper than ivf and I always wonder if the next one would work but I am a big believer in ivf. Now I am hoping to try again for a sibling once we can save up enough. I hope your next try is successful!
1160986 tn?1486819725 We then did 5 IUI cycles (3 Clomid, 2 Follistim) and none of them worked. Late 2007 we did an IVF and I got pregnant but miscarried. The IVF nevertheless seemed to have triggered something as I finally was able to get pregnant naturally: 2 miscarriages and then my current pregnancy. Altogether it took me 4 years to get a viable pregnancy - a long battle but a worthy one!! Don't give up hope, our bodies have mysterious ways to work sometimes!!
Avatar f tn I do not have a postitive IVF story, but i do have severe endo, with only one ovary and male factor (and pcos and LUFS haha! so many issues!) anyhow we have gotten preg via IUI twice but miscarried both times.. but the good news is that it did implant and stay a while the first time with severe endo..
4548024 tn?1590005019 it makes me feel like no one has had any success, with letrozole(femara) and thats the fertility med im taking, i put that comment up 1 month ago, and not one person has resoponded. So does it not work.
Avatar f tn Hello these are really encouraging comments that I am going to share with my dr on friday, I was on clomid before ivf and after 3 cycles it gave me a cyst. we went on to ivf and had 3 failed cycles so now are trying again natuarly.
873190 tn?1304812975 The first two pregnancies were natural and lost around 6 and 5 weeks. Then I started going to my RE. He put me on 2mg extra folic acid, 50mg levothyroxin for a slight thryoid issue, and baby asiprin plus progesterone suppositories. First round, pregnancy m/c around 4 1/2 weeks. Then we decided to try Clomid along with all this other stuff plus HCG injections to trigger ovulation and then support the pregnancy, so three injections of HCG in total. First round, pregnancy m/c around 5 weeks.
374593 tn?1257879950 Once Endo patients have a Lap and the lesions get "cleaned up" . What are your opinions on Lupron for 3-6 months post-op, in order to achieve pregnancy in a patient with mod-severe endometriosis? From what i've ready I can't find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time.
Avatar f tn s, chemical pregnancy after ivf, and failed FET. I just started going to a new doctor. He put me on femara, and my 2nd month I was pregnant, no IUI or anything! Sadly, I am having a miscarriage at about 9 weeks, but it did work! I think it worked much better with my body! And i didn't feel as crappy as when I took the clomid. Good luck!!! Hope it works for you. As soon as my miscarriage is over I will be starting on femara again.
Avatar f tn It was about $2500 for one IUI with meds and the procedure and about $10k for IVF (we do have insurance that covers the meds, so that helped in the bottom-line cost) I hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I have started on my IVF meds. Only one more day on femara, and started the follistim at 225iu last night. It burns after injecting. I have had 5 pound weight gain since starting Femara. I think it is fluid retention. My stomach is bloated also. I am also on doxycycline and dexamethosone. Is the fluid retention normal, esp the abdominal bloating?
Avatar n tn After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs? also - i will be in NY when Af starts - and will hopefully make it back somewhere between CD2-5 or i will have to have CD3 labs and US done up there and rx called in there as well. so nervous and hesitant to spend so much $ - esp when we have a blessing with our 2.5 yr old. thoughts?
237300 tn?1231454718 However, my dr has said that IUI with a medicated cycle has a higher success rate than IVF and that your body will naturally select the best quality eggs, the same way an IVF cycle would. Here is a good web site for women with elevated fsh. www.advancedfertility.com Hope this helps. Good luck!
374593 tn?1257879950 ve since done two cycles of femara, and then this one femara + injectables... before IVF should we do lupron for 3 months for endo suppression? ( i hear its ify if it helps the chances with iVF or not.. my RE doesn't feel strongly that it helps) or should I go to an endo specialist and have exicion surgery before trying IVF.... or should we just do the regular IVF - 2 weeks of lupron before?
