Common Questions and Answers about Femara and infertility

femara

Avatar f tn I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!
Avatar f tn how long is a typical cycle of femara (2.5mg)? what are the success rates with this in infertility? This discussion is related to Femara 2.5 mg.
1697057 tn?1351540435 m 38) and nothing-why do I not get pregnant and why is he putting me on Femara? Are there contraindications using Femara even if you do regularly ovulate? How useful is it?Thank you so much....
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?
Avatar f tn I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.
Avatar n tn Endometriosis can be worsened(or improved) by hormonal manipulation. I would start with a medication such as Clomid or Femara. Good luck!
Avatar n tn The RE will probably want to run some tests to figure out the cause of your infertility. Then you can discuss the treatment options you have. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I also have PCOS and clomid (months and months of it - on and off over the course of 7 years) never helped me. We were finally able to conceive after IVF. So don't be afraid to talk with your doctor about more options. And most of all - GOOD LUCK and HUGS to you!!
Avatar f tn Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?
795248 tn?1250686616 We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!
216278 tn?1308861082 Hi wanting! Wow, that's great that they've found a possible reason! Hopefully, the meds will help you get pregnant soon! I'm not familiar with Armour or DHEA, but I am taking femara (on my third cycle), and it seems like most of us on femara take it days 3-7 (one or two pills a day)...similar to how you would take clomid. So I'm sure the 10 pills in one day would really kick-start things ;-) Best of luck to you!
1626928 tn?1378850167 I recently switched doctors and am getting ready to start my first cycle of femara. I am taking 2.5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
1019279 tn?1252587122 I have unexplained infertility, all tests point to healthy eggs, ovaries, and I ovulate. Are you seeing an RE? I went to a gyno for 11 months and he had me on Femara. I went to an RE and was pregnant within 3 months, he increased my doesage and ordered a trigger with timed BD. Have you had an HSG?
1160986 tn?1486819725 I took a couple of cycles off from medication and decided to try it again this month. I had 3 good sized follicles after the Femara and Follistim, then triggered Saturday night and had the IUI Monday (38 hours later). Now it's the torturous 2 weeks of waiting!!! Wish us luck! I wish all of you the best of luck too. Stay positive and remember that it WILL happen for all of us... Congratulations to Ecologic!!
629668 tn?1222914854 m on follistim +femara) and 3 ruptured... and we are again submitting and getting ready for IVF, in our last tww before officially moving on to that! SO it was almost a success story, but when we got preg there was a genetic abnormality.. so the good news is that it deifntley happens and sometimes without any help with a morph of 2% along with female issues too! GOOD LUCK! as far as side effects i really don't have any from the femara! keep us updated!
Avatar n tn Is femara really so much worse than clomid? I am doing my infertility work up now and will be going on clomid cycle after next and I have heard so many awful things about the fact that clomid gives you all of these side effects and does famara do the same thing without the side effects?
Avatar f tn my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.
Avatar f tn Yes you can. I'm 23yr dx when I was 17 and am now finally pregnant with our first. Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction.
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar f tn I have regular cycles. The doctor put me on metformin and femara (spell check) which I did ovulate on so thry say from my progesterone levels..but still not pregnant. Does any one knows what I could do to help me become pregro?
1530658 tn?1299766324 I completely understand. We TTC for over 36 months before we finally got referred to do an IUI with Femara. Initially they told us that there were no issues that they could see (based on a couple blood tests, a sperm analysis, and normal annual exams for me). I finally demanded to be referred to a specialist (RE) and we DID have issues (both of us) preventing us from getting PG.
1150481 tn?1270490136 I think that unexplained infertility is the most difficult type of infertility to deal with, both for doctors and patients because there is "no reason" why you should have problems. The good news about unexplained infertility is that couples often succeed if they try long enough.
Avatar f tn On the first try of iui with donor, they did it without femara and the trigger shot. But they informed me that they missed my ovulation and decided to put me on femara and on the trigger to avoid missing it again/ and having a better control of it. On the second try of iui +donor+femara+trigger shot: they informed that I might ovulated before the trigger shot because they notice that the follicules were too big .
257175 tn?1204161973 Just to follow up with what everyone else is saying, Femara (Letrozole) seems to be the next thing to try if you don't respond well to Clomid. I was on Clomid for 4 cycles and am now on my 2nd with Femara. I've felt a lot better on the Femara and gotten strong positive OPK's, so it seems to be working well. Everyone responds to meds differently, but this might be worth a try next time. Here's a link to a really good article I found online about it.
Avatar f tn So I am on Femara now and doctor also told me to use the OPKs, BBT seems to be a little inaccurate especially with alot of us lacking sleep. He said my most fertile days are as soon as I get the positive, and the day after- thats it. If I do not ovulate this cycle, come back and see him. So thats good news. Has anyone taken Femara? Any side effects?
950954 tn?1271210887 ve been discharging a clear/white sticky and elatically looking mucus, slight increase in the release of gas, frequent clear urination, and pelvic pain on my lower left and sometimes right side. I already saw my GYN and she told me that this could be a sign of ovulation. My GYN has withdrawn blood from me to check my Estrogen level and I'm hoping that this means that I'll be able to determine when I'm ovulating.
