t any osteoporous Femara causes swelling and bone pain I switch to Arimidex after being off Femara for 2 weeks and am not having the pain. Please look in to Femara side effects and possible changeing to another drug. I even was in physical therapy for two months because I thought it was me but no it was the drug..

I was on femara and the pain was so bad. I thought my back and knees hurt from exercise the pain was from femara. all my bones hurt. when i went off it within 10 days the pain was gone. I am now on aromatex although not purfect the pain is minimal and if i swim alot it helps with the pain. there are other drugs that do the same.

Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!

Hi Olefin, I'm curious why you mention that there is small benefit to an aromatase inhibitor such as Femara. Is that just in your particular situation? I had stage 3 invasive lobular carcinoma, 10 cm, two nodes involved, ER & PR positive and HER2 negative. I've had bilateral mastectomies to remove as much breast tissue as possible thereby reducing my risk for a recurrence by a whole lot. I also had DIEP perforator flap reconstruction in New Orleans with wonderful results.

My doctor told me the side effects were less with Femara and I guess I thought maybe the pain would be also. On Saturday night (day 12) I started getting horrible pain in my ovary/back. It was excruciating. I could barely walk and not walk up stairs at all. It lasted for about 24 hours and got better but is coming back again. I was wondering if anyone had anything similar with Femara. This is my first time taking this. Thanks!

About the same time I started Femara, I have constant sever pain in my right rib area and now pain in my lower right skull. Bone scan was negative. I know this is likely to be bone mets, but is it possible this could caused by Femara, since the bone scan was negative? I did a search for comments on Femara, I was wondering about your post from a few months ago. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in April 2008. I am supposed to start Femara tomorrow. The medical oncologist said that there are 3 drugs of this type to we can try something else if I have problems with it. I just completed radiation and although I had a pretty rough first week, I think I had an easier time than many people have posted.

I tried femara for 8 of my 12 months not one side effect until the last time which turned out to be the golden ticket...I had joint and lower back pain, it hurt to walk and I felt immense pain. My RE said it had nothing to do with femara but the moment I started until 4 or 5 days later until the pills were done I had pain. The next day miraculously I was fine, no more pain. This was my experience.

Besides big joints like shoulder, leg, the joints in every finger is in pain. So my oncologist put be back in tamoxifen. Femara also has risk of causing osteoporosis and I have done bone density test during that time. I am post menopausal. What is recommended duration taking letrozole after tamoxifen?

From what I've understood, Femara is an estrogen inhibitor, so levels will be lower than normal right after you take the pills, but unlike clomid, it doesn't stay in your system, so your levels should go back to normal pretty quickly after. I started Femara this month. I've been ovulating on clomid, but haven't gotten pregnant after about 8 months. I was started on Femara and went on Monday (CD 13) and there was one follie that was 10 and my lining was 6. I did OPK's this week and nothing. I went back this morning and the 10 had grown to 13 and my lining was 10. There were lots of other ones 7 - 11 in size. I didn't see the doc, just the np.

Many women do suffer because of this drug but they try to cope the best way they can by keeping active,exercising and take pain medication when needed.I also heard that some women have pain relief by Acupuncture. Side effects will eventually disappear gradually once the treatment is completed. I think you should talk to your Oncologist about the pain you are experiencing and maybe a change of drugs such as Arimidex or Aromasin,can be better tolerated.

Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!

i have been off of Femara for 1 1/2 years and still experiencing side effects from the drug! My endo is back the pain is worse than ever! Doctors don't know much about effects of the drug in premenopausal women. Terrible side effects from Femara....not worth it!!!!!!!

My OB is not putting me on Femara again and he said he is out of all other options. My ovaries are producing follicles but most are not getting to where they need to be. He said something is a miss. I should not have had the mood swings like I had on the Femara and he said it needs to be looked into more then what he can do. So I guess we will take the big leap again and see what comes of it. I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

Im on my 3rd round of femara, I had Ovarian Drilling back in Oct and they put me on the femara right away and have Ov since but no BFP as of yet. It works way better then the clomid I was on it 6 cycles and nothing not one O. Femara has no side effects and helps your linning and makes great eggs. best of luck and tons of Baby dust.

I had a nice HUGE follie measuring at 24! My lining was 9.5. I did 5mg of Femara on CD 3 - 7! So pumped! We did the HCG right then and we are headed back at 9:30 in the morning for the IUI! I am so happy this isn't going to be a long drawn out cycle and that the Femara worked!! Woooopeeee!!

ve been there and feel your pain. Did you start the femara because you were having really long cycles? I take it you don't take your temperature and chart it?

I was on tamoxifen for 5 years and have been on femara for 3. The back pain and joint pain has gotten horrible. I can no longer stand up straight or walk very far. I am 64 and afraid I will no longer be able to walk soon. I stopped femara 4 days ago. I wonder if any else has had this problem with the very severe joint pain, and if it will go away any time soon. The pain and quality of my life is so bad that I am taking the chance.

SO it was almost a success story, but when we got preg there was a genetic abnormality.. so the good news is that it deifntley happens and sometimes without any help with a morph of 2% along with female issues too! Not sure about the clomid question-I did clomid my first 2 cycles and only had 2 follies. I switched to femara and had 6-so I know different meds affect people differently. 1 IUI takes 1 month. You start clomid on either days 3-7 or 5-9. You usually have an ultrasound on day 13. I have an HcG shot to trigger me to ovulate on day 13 and have the IUI on day 14. And then you wait. Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..

I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?

Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.
