Fear of vomiting on an airplane

Common Questions and Answers about Fear of vomiting on an airplane

fear

Avatar f tn That is impossible on an airplane. has anybody out there experienced it and done anything about it. I do not have a heart condition, or thrombosis. My blood pressure is normally a little below the norm. The limited oxygen in the plane further lowers my pressure, but what can I do to prevent the fainting spells? After I come to I have a vomiting spell that lasts for hours. When I finally get to sleep on a bed, I sleep for hours and then wake up feeling perfectly ok.
Avatar n tn The anxiety produced when confronted with height creates what is near panic. The fear only exhibits itself primarily on the ground and outside.. I do not have a fear of flying in a jet airplane or inside tall buildings. It has become a real problem for me to enjoy skiing. I'm ok as long as I don't have any major "drop offs" thus limiting the area's where I can ski. I've tried to overcome the fear with little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Everytime I am on an airplane, I feel like I am dealing with a life-and-death situation. I'd recall the sins that I've committed recently and become more afraid imagining that God is going to punish me. I can never sleep in a flight. I just don't want to die now, but when I am flying, I know that the danger is very real, not just in my head. I have a flight next friday and I've been worrying about it.
Avatar f tn my anxiety attacks won't stop when i'm in an airplane. is there anything i can do?
Avatar f tn t been on a plane post op, but was on one prior...and no issues on my ride there, but coming home I was having sinus issues and teh landings were brutal..... I am sure u will be fine...
17213106 tn?1456525991 I have serious emetophobia and all of the above list nausea and vomiting as a side effect. What am I supposed to do?? I am never sick, I mean I never catch the common cold (most likely due to my phobia)so being sick for a month is really taking a toll on me. Does anyone have any suggestions? What's a girl to do?
Avatar m tn I feel like I should test to know my status for definite and to certainly ease my concerns but I think the fear of it being positive will always be there. The vomiting and diarrhea are really what worried me despite the low risk, both the timing of that and then the symptoms I've had since then. I did see Dr Handsfield say once that vomiting and diarrhea weren't symptoms of ARS which reassured me slightly but again, other places say differently.
Avatar f tn I'm 14 weeks pregnant and leaving to go to Cozumel next week for vacation. I've never been out of the country before or even been on a airplane before. I'm terrified and just wanted to hear some people's advice for things to do and not to do while I'm gone.
Avatar n tn Hi, This has happened to me 4 or 5 times... you may have "vasovagal syncope" (situational fainting) and it's likely related to the low oxygen on the airplane... I usually get it after I've fallen asleep for a few minutes, on the way up (I've not gotten it on descent)-- you breathe more shallow when you sleep, so get even less oxygen (and it's low on airplanes to begin with). I wake up feeling sick, get up, and pass out near the bathroom (never usually actually sick).
Avatar f tn i've dealt with anxiety and panic pretty much my entire life. my dad had/has the same thing, so i believe it's genetic as well as a learned trait from, at a young age, watching my father have anxiety and panic attacks and either rushing himself to the hospital or calling an ambulance. over the years it's manifested itself in different ways. depression, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, mild agoraphobia and pretty recently as some ocd.
Avatar m tn Oh my goodness, the fear of vomiting i have is that bad. I constantly try and evaluate the tiniest sickness i have and think i am going to vomit. Every time especially if i am in public or at work i just think of utterly embarrassing myself by freaking out so much and vomiting everywhere. Everyone looking at me, having no where to hide, getting it in my hair, choking on it. Dry reaching is the worst possible feeling i could ever imagine... Feeling like your eyeballs are about to pop...
Avatar m tn s bleeding gums or an open sore could come in contact with a scratch, cut, or sore on the penis. I am curios to know why penis tip is not considered (only scratch, cut or sore considered).
Avatar f tn thank you for the posts, I hope mine goes as smooth as you guys, I'm still nervous but hoping that having the angio is going to clear the symptoms I've been dealing with, chest pressure, fast heart rate, weakness, shortness of breath, lethargy, high blood pressure with little exertion, etc. I'll post after the 9th and see how it went!
Avatar n tn Airsickness is something even pilots can experience. I hold a commercial ticket with multi-engine land, seaplane and rotorcraft (helicopter) ratings with instrument and flight instructor endorsements. Decades ago I used to bore holes through the air as a civilian airplane driver under contract to the Navy to teach young studs who wanted to be top-gun the basis of flight in a T-34. And got airsick every day! As a pilot, I NEVER got airsick.
630466 tn?1222379798 Hi, I have to go on an airplane for a few hours, to my destination and back. I don't know if I'm pregnant, I doubt it=( But if I am, will the pressure cause a miscarriage?
Avatar n tn like my fear of vomiting (where when im anxious about it, i picture my self throwing up in my current situation or a situation down the road) my fear of depression causes me to picture myself actually depressed or suicidal.
Avatar f tn For as long as I can remember I have had a massive fear of vomit ( not vomiting, fear of others puking) when ever I even think about someone throwing up it gives me anxiety. When I see someone even about to I start panicking. I live in an apartment complex and someone threw up in the parking lot and now I'm scared to go out there. It's makes me panic and want to cry.
1660929 tn?1319758789 it is fun isn't it.........I've been in a 3 seater, son driving, he flies jets now, and did the "jump out of a perfectly good airplane" thing, which he won't do but I really enjoyed that. Isn't the world beautiful from up high?
Avatar m tn About amonth ago i got this odd feeling on top of my head it is on the top left side it is and on and off pressure/pain feeling in a localized spot that ican pinpoint everytime. It came out of nowhere and it have it every day. I also get it on the back of my head and my neck gets tense and i think i have a pinched nerve in between my left shoulder blade and spine.
Avatar m tn Do you ask the pilot of an airplane to prove he knows how to read the gauges so he has enough fuel for the trip and get him to show you how to fly the plane just in case he can't do his job? Or even your bus driver for the trip to work could crash you into a bridge?
Avatar n tn You said she gets her self worked up every evening and has a fear of eating it could be possible she to has a psychological problem causing this to occur such as fear of going to bed, a fear of going to school the next day, or possibly even anorexia. You said she doesn't know why she vomits and that is probably the case, she may be stressed over something either at home, or school and is either blocking it out or is embarrassed or afraid to talk about it.
Avatar n tn I myself have never had a problem driving on any road or highway yet I cannot get on an airplane. My sister has no problem going on an airplane. Thats how are minds are, we develop fears that will be hard to break unless we face them head-on. So yours is more common than you might think.
Avatar m tn For one, most people have trouble with their ears when in an airplane. The pressure difference has an effect on anybody. For another, if you have a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes, you MUST try to see a doctor. Try to keep your mind open, and don't try to diagnose yourself. Only a doctor can diagnose and treat an illness. Lots of juice, clear liquids, and try to avoid caffeine and sugary things. Vitamin C is important.
Avatar m tn Fearing that the person who conducted the test didn't know how to do their job is up there with fearing that the pilot of an airplane doesn't know how to do his job either, so you have to move on from that if you want to stop fixating on HIV. A faulty condom rips down the seam and hangs in tatters which makes both people very aware that it happened, so messy water tests are unnecessary.
