Avatar m tn I do want to share something I learned in college when speaking in front of people, and it doesn't matter how many are in front of you. My professor said that a very famous speaker had the same problem until he imagined all the people in front of him were sitting on toilets with their pants around their feet.

Avatar f tn I'm 30 and afraid of the dark. Welcome to the club. Fears never leave us, sadly. It sounds like bad news, but we can learn to manage them. I've been diagnosed with sever anxiety, GAD, panic, and depression. I'm not on meds. I manage it. I don't recommend this as the path for you/everyone, I'm just putting it out there to say: I know where you're at. The thing is, I've friends who're famous musicians, and terrified of performing.
Avatar m tn If you feel your therapist is not helping you, then chances are, they aren't. Find someone else you connect with better. Try to get to more sessions if you can, but I know that between the insurance companies and the economy, therapy has become more of a "luxury" than it should be! While I hate to advocate drugs unless they are a "last resort," there are some good medications you can take on an "as needed" basis to help you relax.
Avatar f tn Here is a question I have asked a fellow member but would also like to put to everyone else as my mind doesn't allow me to believe myself sometimes. I have a constant fear of contamination with hiv and fear environmental transmission from inanimate objects that have somehow got the virus on them be it through blood or other contaminated fluids (usually blood). I then fear the rapid spread of the virus from one object to another.
Avatar f tn Just before he graduated he made a life changing mistake. He drank to much at a party, drove home and in front of his own home pushed a neighborhood thug out of his way to get to his own door. The 16 yo pressed charges, the young man was given PBJ for DUI and a stet for assault. Neither can be expunged from his record. He cannot pass a background check for most jobs. He is working for $11 an hour, six days a week at a factory.
1183666 tn?1274275146 m positive the vast majority of us would rather streak through Wal Mart than get up in front of a group of people. (Would anybody notice us in Wal Mart? Somehow I think we'd just "blend!") I suppose there are a number of things you could try before it was your turn to be on stage. Deep breathing, relaxation techniques, visualization...............personally they don't work for me, but that doesn't mean they won't work for you.
Avatar m tn ” Many presidents fared better in history than in office. But it would be a morale booster and a sign of civic maturity if more Americans appreciated what an exceptional president they have right now. It could be a long wait for the next one. One can hate Democrats, disagree with Obama on big issues, dislike his style or be disappointed the excitement of his election didn’t last.
Avatar f tn I don't have many people I can call friends for when I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband) we lost touch. They were too busy I was busy and we just had a hard time hanging out and keeping in touch. As for my family they never approved of my husband so we just stopped talking all together. Trust me when I had moved in with him there were a couple of nights that I cried because I missed my mom and being around my noisy family.
Avatar f tn I think my anxiety/depression problem stems around my relationship with my boyfriend. I am starting to think he is bi-polar. He verbally abuses me on a regular basis. He makes me feel so low, I cry for a couple days after a fight. He is successful, intelligent, eccentric and makes a lot of money. He has called me a idiot, loser, crazy and that I have to "earn his respect" whenever I try and defend myself he gets in this rage and the insults start.
696149 tn?1314320959 Well, I spoke of it a few days ago......that is getting off the Vicodin and I just took the last 4 I had. I am terrified of what I'm probably going to face. Usually when you fear something, the bark is worse than it's bite, but in this case, the bark is just as bad as the bite, if not worse. Still, all I have to do is get through 1 week.
Avatar f tn The DH of a dear friend passed away this week. In addition to mourning, she's been searching in vain for his birth certificate & their marriage license. She had to order docs through the state capital, for an unreasonable amount of money. I know it's unreasonable, because it's been privatized, and I luckily got my documents before that process was complete. (I had to get official docs to apply for Italian citizenship; they were mostly $5).

Avatar f tn All flu feels like that, so do colds. The media has blown this all out of proportion. It may spread everywhere but unless you live where it has broken out, I wouldn't worry about it.
9941879 tn?1406844458 First thing is to stay positive and pray all is well. Start speaking life into your children's life and in your life. Stop thinking negative is the second step. Read proverbs 3:5-7 and put all your trust in the Lord, ask God to remove fear out your heart in Jesus name and cast down all negative thoughts.
Avatar m tn I’ll start from the beginning. I’m a 14 year old girl, 5’7ft/171 cm, 135 pounds. Around September of 2016, I started becoming extremely fatigued and had occasional headaches (though not often and not bad enough so I never really thought much about it). The fatigue was the worst part. It would cause me to become extremely tired throughout the day and I would be ready to fall asleep at 7pm every night. Waves of fatigue would come and go.
Avatar n tn When i am with some people i am familiar with, like family members and cousins, i usually smile but when i am around a crowd of people (it does not matter if people i know are in the crowd), i become very shy, don't make too much eye contact and i dont smile at all. if they laugh out loud in the crowd, sometimes i usually think they are laughing at me.

657315 tn?1319491387 The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd. The House Speaker and His Holiness, however, have seen it all before. To make it a little more interesting, the speaker says to the Pope, “Did you know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every Democrat in the crowd go wild?" He doubts it, so she shows him. Sure enough, the wave elicits rapture and cheering from every Democrat in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering subsides.
