Avatar f tn , cups, paper, sticks, trash, etc, but I have fear of it being a needle. The funny thing is, most of the time, I never review the photos; I guess just knowing I have them brings me relief. Before, I was even using a picker to pick things up off the ground, which I would store in the trunk of my car; however, I've pretty much gotten past that. It has come to the point that my condition is impacting my relationship.

Avatar f tn You said you are intelligent. I do believe you. You have only one question to answer, as Jesus asked I will ask also. Why? The answer for that only you have. Go back in time in your head and remember. You might have bad experiences, clear those for yourself, and then heal yourself. For you to do that is important maybe more important than your cholesterol standing right now.Until you make it to the doctor eat cholesterol friendly as you can. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi, this morning I went to the hospital for the rabies vaccine, I was sitting on the chair waiting for the nurse to give me 2 dose shot, then I noticed there was a container on the floor with used needles in it, and at the last dose, I saw the nurse accidentally slightly contact the container with some sound, and I can't stop thinking what if the needles come out of the container and get in touch with me, if there a risk?
Avatar m tn This is not the Doctor's forum, you have to pay for that one, nonetheless you have NO RISK OF HIV, HIV is an extremely fragile virus which spreads through bodily fluids in acts of unprotected sex (vaginal/anal), or the sharing of needles, you need to see your Doctor about those symptoms as they are not indicative of HIV but I think it's stress and anxiety, try not to worry!
Avatar n tn All I can tell you is that most of us here were scared at first to give ourselves injections. But the needle is really tiny and you can hardly feel it. I would say that plucking eyebrows hurts more. He'll do fine. I would definitely suggest doing the first one with the nurse if you guys still feel anxious.
Avatar f tn You should think over the situation, and ask yourself if the health center is so dumb that they infect people who take tests then get sued for massive amounts of money - the answer is the clinic is not dumb. Also note that you have no medical training yet you question that work of healthcare employees - which makes no sense.
Avatar f tn CBT is a wonderful tool and should help with your fears. You would know if you have been poked with a needle and also it would not pass on HIV unless you were using it yourself for shooting up after someone else had. Hang in there till your CBT and I think you will be able to work through alot.
Avatar f tn if you have unprotected penetrative vaginal or anal sex or sharing of drug needles. Hiv is inactivated by air and saliva. Every time you have a fear of HIV, remember that. It should alleviate the worry. If you didn't do these things, you aren't going to get HIV.

Avatar n tn Your fear of needles is very common, as I'm sure you know. Aside from some adversion therapy, I suppose some talk therapy could help you out, but I think it would be a waste of money. You said you also have a fear of bloodwork. Most of us with anxiety issues have fears when we go for any kind of test, be it bloodwork or an X-ray or CT......so this is also very common. You said you just had some blood work done and you obviously survived, but now you have a fear that they used a dirty needle.

Avatar n tn I am just constantly amazed at the real lack of knowledge about this virus. There is so much information available out there, it is taught in schools, it's on the Internet, it's posted in doctors offices and medical centers...........it's everywhere, and yet so many people still carry around the myths and misinformation, the fears and the paranoia from years ago. In this age of information, I find that unacceptable.
Avatar f tn Then we tried fertility treatments, and that involves lots of blood draws and injections, and of course insemination, which began a fear of HIV and pregnancy by someone other than my husband. I like to blame it on the Lyme doing something to my brain. I had always had somewhat of an issue with anxiety, but nothing like what the OCD was. I finally sought cognitive behavioral therapy and reluctantly started medication. I have seen big improvements since when I first had OCD.
