Avatar f tn One of my 3rd grade students drowned In a stream behind his home. One of the saddest funerals. EMTs and cops even attended. Sometimes I feel guilty for being super overprotective of my daughter. But situation like this is why. Kids are very fragile n precious.
Avatar f tn Today marks the day that I have lost 50 of those pounds, but I smoke. The last time I tried to swim, I almost drowned and the water was only up to my neck. I was too fat. I guess I could try swimming again. At least I'm not so fat. Thanks!
Avatar f tn The real issue that you sound like you *might* be describing is secondary drowning. This is not common, but if you a gush of water, too much water, etc. it can irritate the lungs and cause swelling. A cough is a sign of this. I'm not sure when this happened (that you felt water in your lungs--- but the recommendation when secondary drowning is suspected is to go to the hospital. At the very least, you should be seen by your doctor. They say to go within 72 hours.
2194701 tn?1432394206 My husband and I are very active during the summer months, lots of camping and swimming. We have looked at several classes in our area. First being the YMCA weekly classes that start at 6 months of age. Second was the ISR infant swimming lessons. I know the ISR is tough no nonsense approach has been said to be hard to watch. That being said 6 month old babies learn to turn under water and save themselves. They use natural reflexes to hold their breath and some even swim.
Avatar n tn However, I would never ever have done this without the supervision and assistance of a qualified swim instructor - this was part of a baby swim class I took. They only had us do it once per class, not repeatedly. It was indoor in a baby pool in which the water is kept warmer then average. I also bathed him immediately after to ensure the chlorine was washed off asap, and the classes were only 1/2 hour. If you want to give this a try, please don't just do it on your own.

2157870 tn?1336742527 A lot of people really love their water aerobics classes and get a lot out of it, the only thing i'd get you thinking about is water and air temperature. Some of the pools are heated and it ends up generating a negative affect so check that out.
Avatar f tn The babies breathing reflex won't happen until they feel air, so no risk of baby drowning. They "breathe" in and swallow amniotic fluid all the time in the womb. My sister had 2 water home births, they were so relaxed and she absolutely loved the experience. Its supposed to be great pain relief. I'm taking her birth pool to the birthing unit, my midwife said that is fine :) this is my first so I'm keen to try it!
925572 tn?1246540031 Please don't lose hope, and don't hurt yourself. That horrible, deep, dark hole is the worst thing in the world. There are meds that can be taken during pregnancy; please work with your doctor. Please DO get help if it gets too bad...it's alway available, not something to fear or be ashamed of...short term hospitalization could help get a treatment plan for your pregnancy in place while you stay safe. Take care. Let us know how you're doing. I care.

Avatar m tn I have had lots of other stuff but right now I am sure my forearms are losing muscle mass. It looks like my muscles on the top of my forearms are especially thin. My question or fear is, in horrible neuro diseases what point does muscle wasting happen? My strength isn't bad and I do drop things but I don't know if this is anxiety or just the occasional accident. Basically I am freaking out due to a lack of knowledge.

1306047 tn?1333243591 In the last few years, a pulmonologist has downgraded that to no COPD but impaired function not rising to the level of COPD. I can swim, ride bike, walk up stairs all with no issues. The problem is that I can feel the damage in my left lung this whole time, and I have fought a losing battle with fear this whole time. My lungs are impaired about 20-25% depending on what aspect is measured so it is real even if not life threatening.

Avatar f tn Because the belly is exposed to the sun, I have worn a 2 piece before but tried not to be out in the sun too long in fear of hurting the baby. I would like to get some color as I'm pale as snow.
Avatar m tn I've had this problem for a little while now, but it's been getting worse. During the night, I sometimes wake up with the sensation of have a fleck of spit caught in the back of my throat. Like I've accidentally inhaled a bit of saliva. I've tried looking up people having similar problems, and a lot of people mention mucus or phlegm or catarrh, but I distinctly mean spit. It's like when you accidentally inhale a bit of water.
Avatar n tn Also on top of this nowadays i have a fear of sleeping as i have started to get dreams of drowning where i wake up feeling short of breath , In the shower i also feel like im drowing. 105530 tn?1279585282 I am scared to death of spiders. I used to be afraid of thunderstorms but now I quite enjoy them. I also have a fear of heights, I can't even stand to look out of the windows of high-rise buildings.
Avatar n tn One, maybe you should check with the doctor and make sure that when he or she asked you not to swim it was because of what was going on then and not because of something that's still going on now. Or maybe that's already clear to you. The other thing I can think of is that you don't want to get out in the middle of a large lake or body of water where you might drown if you were to suddenly have heart symptoms. If you're talking about swimming in a pool, that would be safer.
Avatar f tn Also i never had asthma or anything of that nature, i am a smoker but not a heavy smoker in any sense of the word, i have been told by my phtsician i do have fluid in my lungs but he said its nothing out of the ordinary (then he retired a week later) but maybe the liquid he said in my lungs contributes to some sort of water pressure around the body drowning type reaction? I dont know, i know its not dry drowning!! Who gets that?
